I booked appointments for my daughter and myself five days in advance. I spoke with Nick and was very clear that I have long, very thick, naturally red hair. I scheduled a haircut, complete color, blowout and style, and my daughter was scheduled for a cut and highlights. We were getting ready to leave for vacation, and I took the day off work specifically so we could get our hair done beforehand. I explained this and was assured they would "make it work." When we arrived, Hannah started my hair. I specifically asked to have about 5-6 inches taken off. Instead, more than 10 inches was cut off. Even then, I was unbelievably calm about it. I didn't get angry or make a scene. I basically said, "It's okay, it's just hair." Looking back, I think I was so caught off guard that I hadn't even processed what had happened yet. But what happened next is what I truly cannot believe. AFTER more than 10 inches of my hair had already been cut off, I was told they didn't have enough time or enough color/product to complete my color -- AND they didn't even have enough time to finish the haircut they had already started. At that point, my hair had basically been chopped off and was extremely choppy, uneven and obviously unfinished. This wasn't about not having time for a blowout or style. My actual haircut was not finished. Their solution was for me to leave the salon looking like that and come back later that evening so they could finish cutting and styling my hair. Then I was offered the option of coloring half of my hair that day and coming back the following week to color the other half. I am honestly still trying to understand how any of that was considered an acceptable solution. If they didn't have enough time or product to complete my appointment, I should have been told that before anyone touched my hair, not after more than 10 inches had already been cut off. Nick knew when the appointment was booked that my hair was long and extremely thick. Had I simply been told they couldn't accommodate the services I requested, I would have understood and gone somewhere else. Instead, I trusted them. I went in excited to have my hair done before vacation and left without the complete haircut, color, blowout and style I had scheduled, with an unfinished, choppy haircut, and with more than 10 inches of my hair gone when I had only asked for 5-6 inches. The more I look at my hair and process how this was handled, the more shocked and upset I become. I genuinely cannot understand how anyone at a professional salon could think it was acceptable to cut that much of a client's hair off and THEN tell her they didn't even have time to finish the haircut. I was patient, calm and understanding throughout the situation. Unfortunately, I feel like my willingness to be understanding was taken advantage of rather than appreciated. I absolutely intend to share my experience so other people understand exactly what happened here and can make an informed decision before trusting this salon with their hair. Once more than 10 inches of your hair has been cut off, there is no putting it back. I am still in disbelief that this happened. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend GG's Hair Styling in Apex, and I would strongly caution anyone considering going there -- I will be filing a complaint with the state board. I was scheduled with Michaela for a Halo face framing type situation and was greeted very kindly by her and everyone else at the front desk. They offer you water and other beverages there as you arrive. There is also local crafted jewelry in the sitting area to browse. Getting back to hair, Michaela was very personable, funny, nice, and professional. The experience was nice and it feels like you're just chatting with an old friend. Honestly I probably chat too much but the story of my life LOL. They take you back to the hair washing area which is quiet and Serene, ready for relaxation. They also offer you and I mask type essential oil situation where you can pick different scents. After your hair is done washing you get processed and then you go back to your sitting area. I went to this salon for over a year. I got hair extensions with Brittany; however she wasn't…read moreproperly trained at all; which she told me on my last visit that she trained herself. I reside 30 minutes from the salon and the last several sessions she put my hair extensions in with thread and not hair thread. As a result, they came undone several times over the 3 chances I gave Brittany. I had to spend over two hours between driving to the salon and traveling that it caused my plans to get ruined. The last time I went she did such a poor job that within four days of going back and forth to get them fixed they came undone within 24 hours each time within 7 days. Of course there was a big event I was working on and needed to be in cocktail attire with my hair done. She knew that and basically didn't care after the fourth time she messed up. She told me it was my problem and the salon didn't have anyone else to help me. For the money I paid this was unacceptable. I was super angry. I reached out to Brittany and she told me she wasn't going to help me again unless I paid. I should pay for her lack of knowledge and lies?! I don't think so. She even told me her boss agreed with her and she told me she didn't want to be my hair dresser anymore. So now I couldn't go to my fundraiser due to half of my extensions falling off my head and no amount of thread or pins would keep them in place. I looked horrible! I was brutally dismissed by someone trying to bully me out of ever coming back, and she took hundreds of dollars of my hard earned money. She made me feel like her lack of skill was my fault and lied to her boss so that when I called to get support two hours before my fundraiser they told me I wasn't meant to have extensions. Clearly they don't care about customer service. So I went to another salon and found out that the extensions were installed with thread for sewing clothing instead of thread for hair. She also caused my hair to get pulled out when they tried to get them out. Once I went to a real professional I never had an issue with hair extensions again. So no Brittany; I can get hair extensions; you just didn't want to get caught for your repeated mistakes. I don't like to say a bad word in reviews unless it was justified repeatedly. Mauve and Brittany were so rude and wouldn't assess her lack of professionalism and blamed me instead of trying to fix the issue. I now go to another salon and never had another problem again. So I guess I can get extensions; just as long as they are put in by a trained professional. I will never recommend or ever go back to this salon ever again! No one has the right to blame a customer for poor work and tell the customer she didn't want to work with me again because it was my fault that she had to waste time fixing her mistakes. Lesson learned ask about credentials instead of assuming the salon checked the skill of a worker and reviewed their professional certification.

Tried 2 other Korean barber shops in the Triangle (Hair News and Miss Kim's), and Scissorhands…read more(Andy) clearly provides the best service but compared to the other 2, it's also the most expensive, which is enough reason for me to alternate between the 3 aforementioned Korean barber shops. Scissorhands is my family's favorite with my two younger brothers regularly getting haircuts here. Andy is not as friendly as Miss Kim in Morrisville, but we recently had a nice conversation about the Korean language since I just started studying it. The cut was masterful, for sure, and followed the example I showed in a photo saved in my phone. Shampoo was included at no additional cost and I did not have to wait in my latest visit around Friday noon. I used to pay around $30 to $35 for a regular men's cut but the latest service, Andy charged me $40 (not including tips). As for the atmosphere, it's more spacious than their old location (where they shared space with other salons) but it's not as spacious as Hair News. Nonetheless, it's in a good location by High House Road, close to Cici's Pizza, a small Walmart market, and just less than 5 minutes drive away from HMart.
