Woman answers the phone speaking very slow and wasn't clear. Slurring her words and unable to really answer my questions. I asked about enrolling my child as a new patient and she asked if he was vaccinated for school and I said yes. He has all his shots but we are choosing to not vaccinate any more. She asked if he had mmr dtap I said yes but not Covid. She asked how old he was and I responded and she put me on hold and came back saying they weren't taking new patients. So this facility only wants Covid vaccinated patients. Had she just said that it would have been truthful and respectable. I wouldn't want to be a patient here anyway since it clearly isn't in alignment with parent rights. She didn't ask if there was a medical reason for our choice which there is. Discrimination and ignorance is my experience of this facility. read more

Several complaints with this place. Very hard to reach anyone on the phone. First time visit was a basic 9 month follow up with vaccines. They indicated they accept my insurance. Waited 45 min to get called back for appt. The medical assistant seemed nervous and not confident. Vaccine was injected in left thigh. Medical notes stated right thigh. No indication or explanation prior to visit or during visit that insurance was considered out of network. And this is a very common insurance carrier. BCBS. I get a notification over a month later that my insurance is out of network and I owe 475.00. I called for 2 weeks and left messages and emailed with no response. Every time you call the office, it rings and rings until it goes to a voice message. I finally reached someone and explained my situation. Again it took 2 weeks of constant follow up to finally reach someone that said the billing manager was working on it. They didn't understand why my insurance was not covering the visit even though they say they take my insurance. They said they would call with an explanation and all I get is an email the next day with a bill with no explanation. If you want a pediatrician that requires you to do a lot of work on your end with no communication then choose Sunshine Pediatrics. Otherwise, find somewhere else that is properly staffed to handle normal operations. read more

I have a very good experience with "Sunshine Pediatrics of Lutz" office. The staff was very courteous and helpful during my visit. Specially I want to mention Niha, works with insurance and claims office was wonderful. I had some issues with my insurance claim, and it was Niha who keep telling me about the case and steps to make. She was amazing in her communication and response. Thanks Niha for everything you did. MONEY HUNGRY PRACTICE - I have been taking my older son here for years and during covid they kicked us out when making an appointment for my newborn because I didn't take my healthy baby (after falsely diagnosing her with thrush) to every wellness visit. They are only concerned with money from the insurance company!!!! read more

Absolutely love the staff and physicians here! As a first time Mom, I come with a lot of questions, concerns, and fears- and each time they have some us with such elegance and knowledge. The nurses are amazing as well, especially Ashley! So grateful for them and will continue to drive almost an hour to see them! read more

Mr. Mehta is a great pediatrician. He has a good bedside manner with the kids and is very funny. The staff there is also amazing.

I LOVE this doctors office. Dr. Mehta and Dr. Patel truly care for their patients. Time and time again they have squeezed us in for last minute appointments and called us back after hours when my husband and I had questions (we're new parents, so this happens a lot). The nursing staff is phenomenal. Latasha has been there from the beginning with us and my son always looks forward to seeing her. She's given him multiple vaccines without him even knowing. The other nurse ( I feel horrible, I can't remember her name) is amazing as well. She goes out of her way to make my son smile time and time again. Bonnie ( I believe she is the office manager) is great as well, always greeting us with a smiling face. My only issue with this doctors office is billing and a new staff member named Chasity. Chasity has been very rude to me on multiple occasions over billing issue. The billing is outsourced and sometimes, incorrect. Chasity has argued with me about co pays that WERE paid or not billed correctly through our secondary insurance. I understand if you need more information or an error has occurred and it needs to be sorted out, but be respectful. If I explain, I'm not comfortable providing sensitive information over the phone in regards to Tricare please respect my wishes and allow me to come in and provide the information without throwing a charge in my face... This is the ONLY reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. read more

(URGE TO READ!) Sunshine Pediatrics as whole is great. The staff are friendly. The only problem with Sunshine Pediatrics is Dr. Saumeel R. Mehta. I'm a father of a 4 and 1 year old. I work long hours, always nights and weekends. My wife works the same hours that sunshine pediatrics is open. We had to reschedule a few appointments because of our work hours. Because of our need to change a few appointments for our children Dr. Mehta no longer feels "comfortable" signing an annual school physical form for my children, or providing any further care. As a whole their are other Pediatric offices that are bigger, have a play room and can accept the flexibility of two hard working parents that will give everything for their children. My children and I like and trust Dr. Patel. She is wonderful with kids and really seems to enjoy helping families. Scheduling appointments is never an issue. We are generally seen on time. She honors parents' decisions with regards to vaccines. Her location is great and she accepts our insurance. There are a few reasons I would not give this office 5 stars. The staff habitually measure the height of my children incorrectly, documenting them shorter than they actually are by 2-4 inches. I am not sure if it is an innocent training issue or if they are trying to paid their bills. Making the kids shorter increases the BMI calculations, which triggers nutrition and exercise counseling (an additional charge of $160.00). I now know to have all their heights measured before hand and to challenge them when we are there. That seems to help. Also they use a patient portal that is a bit cumbersome. Instead of having a parent dashboard with all your kids, you have to have separate accounts for every child. The system has some glitches. I have one child I have never been able to establish on the portal. At the end of the day despite these small things, we like this practice and recommend Dr. Patel. read more
