My daughter loves it here! We switched from another daycare (won't say any names) and it's so much more organized. My daughter says she likes how each day has a theme/topic that the kids learn about. On the way to school everyday she asks me to tell her what they will be talking about that day- the school sends that in an email every week. The teachers are all super friendly and they post a lot of pictures and videos of what the kids are doing on Facebook/instagram. I can ask my daughter about it when she gets home. We LOVE Sunshine House! This is the second kiddo we have sent to Sunshine House because they're just that good! We wouldn't think of any other place to send our second child. The staff are phenomenal- every single one of them knows our kiddo really well. Every month, they provide a written update and we look forward to having that keepsake. Sunshine House in Martinez is such a wonderful preschool! The facility is always clean, organized, and welcoming. During drop-off, we're consistently greeted with warm smiles and helpful support, especially on days when our little one has a harder time saying goodbye. The teachers and staff are truly exceptional. They are gracious, patient, and kind, and they regularly share updates about how our daughter's day went. We even receive photos throughout the day, which always brightens our day and reassures us that she is happy and well cared for. Sending our children to Sunshine House Preschool has been the best decision we've made to support their early education. Our older son attended Sunshine House and is now thriving in kindergarten. His teacher has told us that he is meeting and even exceeding developmental milestones--he can count to 100, do simple math, and write almost all upper and lower case letters! We credit so much of his success, both academically and socially, to the strong foundation he received at Sunshine House. Our younger son still attends and is thriving as well. Sunshine House is quite simply the BEST when it comes to preschool!! Both of our kids have thrived there and it's all thanks to the amazing teachers and administrators who make it make it such a wonderful place. From the time we walk in at drop off in the morning until we pick up in the afternoon, we are greeted with nothing but smiles and positivity from the staff. Creative and thoughtful lesson plans are taught each day which are also age appropriate. It's always fun to see what our kiddos come home with every day whether it be a fun fact they learned or a cool arts and crafts project they created. The outdoor play area is also wonderful allowing children to play and use their imagination in different areas throughout the space. Sunshine House has been such a blessing to our family. The teachers are incredibly kind, caring and thoughtful. My child feels cared for, loved and respected every single day that she is there. The staff has worked with her to overcome potty training, work on her delayed speech and go above and beyond to make a difference. As a parent, choosing a school can be a hard decision. I am so happy with the care my daughter receives while she is at Sunshine House. They take a child focused approach that fosters her autonomy while guiding her to further develop her social emotional skills. We had our 3 year old at sunshine and after a few weeks they basically told use its not working out. Now you have to remember if your child doesn't fit their mold, this is what can happen. My boy didn't like sitting on a small rug for a forced nap, so they could run lunch breaks. So make sure your kids trained their. Also they called me because he liked tossing hand fulls of sand out of the sand box; i asked if other kids were near or affected, answer was "No." ok so why are you calling me?? Got another call about him jumping down 20 inches off a play structure, ok??? Whats the issue?? Uhhh was the answer i got. Our whole experience was ridiculousness phone calls about things like this. So essentially they kicked him out after 2 months, we put him in Kinder care which he loved and had zero issues whatsoever. Makes me think this place just way too foo foo, or bougie or they pick and choose which kids they want! Id be interested to know the ratio of how many male and female kids they have enrolled. Id also be interested to see how many families per year were asked to "remove" their kids from this place. Id be willing to bet the numbers would surprise you. I will say my circumstance occurred years ago and there may be a new manager now. Perhaps its better. read more

Our 4 year old daughter started here in July (although they do start kids at age 2), she is there full time and loves it. We recommend Sunshine House for the wonderful, caring teachers, the emphasis on social- emotional development, and the overall positive impact they've made on our daughter. The outdoor space in the back is definitely a favorite, but they offer lots of free play and exploration. For parents that like to know what's going on, they send weekly emails about activities. My son attended Sunshine House from age 2 to 4. During his time there, he learned to talk, became potty trained, write, read, count, sing, socialize well with other children, and always came home excited to talk about the fun things he did at preschool. The teachers are insightful, thoughtful, passionate, attentive, patient, and communicate/work with parents to help the children improve and grow. They took time and care when my son was having a hard time at drop off (and even sent me pictures to let me know he was ok after the drop off meltdown). Teachers adapted to his needs e.g., that he did better with his nap if they allowed him to walk around outside before settling down with everyone else for a nap. They let me know if they noticed he was struggling with something, such that we could all work together to help him. They foster and encourage the children to be proactive and independent. My son started TK at our local public school and still misses and remembers his teachers at Sunshine. Thank you Anna (director at the time - she was AMAZING), Trish, Tessa, Bonnie, Vanettra, Jen, and all the wonderful teachers at Sunshine - I hope you all know the impact you make during such a developmentally important time in children's lives. Sunshine house has been a great start for our 3 year old daughter. Being a stay at home mom, I was worried about separation anxiety when it came to starting preschool. One thing we love about sunshine house are the weekly schedules that are emailed out. If she wakes up feeling anxious about going to school we can look at what will happen that day and it really does help to ease some of that. We love that we receive pictures of her having a blast at school. She loves to look at them too and see herself with her school friends. Since she started we've noticed so much growth, her speech and her writing and drawing have improved too. She gets excited to tell us what she's learned about at school that day and we love to see that. It really has been a great experience for us. read more

We absolutely love sunshine house! We first sent our oldest son who is now 9 and he had the best time. He was always excited to go, learned many things, and made lots of friends. When it was time for our youngest to attend preschool, we knew that Sunshine house was at the top of our list. The teachers are so welcoming and good with the children. Some even were the same teachers my oldest son had so it was nice to have them teach both my sons. My youngest initially had a hard time because he missed me, but the teachers were always so attentive to him and his needs. They always made sure to communicate with me how he was doing and now he loves going. I appreciate the little notes they send home with how my son did that day and the friends he played with. My daughter has almost been going here for a year now, and we LOVE this preschool. So many fun learning days, so many learning projects, and always shoes full of sand when we pick her up from playing in the sandbox! Our little girl always says she had a great day or a good day, always tells us what happened at school that day, and we LOVE the change that we've seen in her (developmentally). All of the teachers are so sweet and the school is so clean and everything they have there to play with, our daughter now wants at home (the sand box, swing and little climbing structure). SUNSHINE HOUSE IS THE BEST!! We had tried multiple other daycares and preschools but when we stepped into the Sunshine House facility we felt at ease. The school was so clean, spacious and welcoming. The teachers are so sweet and help the children foster great independence. There have very organized lesson plans scheduled for the month and the kids come home learning something new every day. Sunshine House has been the best decision we've made for our kids. The staff are so attentive and top notch. The school is clean and always updating their toys and teaching items to keep the kids interested. In the three years that we've been with them, I feel like we've become part of their family. They truly care for the children and their parents. Currently, they have monthly family breakfasts at the beginning of the month and treat the kids and parents to a homemade breakfast. In the past, they have offered a coffee/tea bar and a fruit bar because they know that parents don't always have time for themselves before they go to work! This is just one example of the many things that Sunshine House does for its families. My daughter will be going to kindergarten next year and Sunshine House has made sure she is ready; she can already spell and write her name! To track their progress and readiness for kindergarten, Sunshine House evaluates each child once or twice a year and shares it with the parents. This is always an exciting time for me as a parent because I get to see how much she is learning and how far she's come in just a year! I will miss Sunshine House, they are truly a wonderful daycare and I would highly recommend if you are looking for a safe and nurturing environment to leave your child at, for you to schedule an appointment with Sunshine House and see for yourself. My son absolutely loves Sunshine House Martinez. He has been attending here for a year and half now. The transition was a little bit difficult for him when he first started. But the teachers are so amazing. They are very patient and caring. With their help, my son adjusted pretty quickly. He always comes home with a smile now and looks forward to going to school in the morning. He loves playing outside, especially at the sand box. Also, I like how they send out the weekly curriculum schedule and suggestions on how parents can participate. The school is very organized and clean. With the COVID-19 situation going on now, they take extra precautions to ensure the safety of the children. Taking temperatures every morning at the entrance, masks on teachers all the time, washing hands, having sanitize stations available and improving the process of checking-in/out the kids. Me and my wife and most importantly LOVE sunshine house. The staff is amazing with our daughter who is now 3 and has been going here for over two years. She looks forward to going to "school" every day. Even through these tough times with covid 19 going on the staff never misses a beat with care or safety. They take every precaution and do take temperature of parents and kids before every , then make kids go straight to bathroom and wash hands before interacting with anyone. They make kids wash hands prior to going home and even let kids wear their face masks if they want during day. Can't speak enough about how great this facility is and how much they care for all the kids there. The staff all really treats the children as if they are their own Wish I could give them 6 stars!!! read more

My son has been at Sunshine House for over 2 years. Their school was recommended to us by a friend and when we toured it was the ONLY preschool we visited where he immediately appeared comfortable. We could not be happier with our decision. He has absolutely thrived there thanks to the amazing staff (many of which have been there for 10+ years) He loves all his teachers and has made some great friends. My wife and I have had our daughter with Sunshine house Martinez for over three years now. This has been one of the best experiences for our daughter that she could have ever had. Our daughter was VERY shy and we were apprehensive about sending her somewhere to be in the care of others. When we visited Sunshine House Martinez, we instantly felt very comfortable with the staff and the facilities were VERY clean. Our daughter, while still shy, was much more accepting of this location than other places we had visited. The staff at Sunshine House Martinez worked diligently with our daughter and was able to help her get over her initial shyness and unlocked her thirst for knowledge and desire for socialization. She was able to learn so much and make such wonderful friends. She amazes us still with the things she says she learned from school. We are more than confident that she is ready for Kindergarten. My son has been at Sunshine House since he was 2 years old. At 3 1/2 now, I can see how much he has grown, in knowledge and in social skills. He loves going to school, seeing his friends, and reporting back about what he learned. I appreciate that there is a weekly calendar that we can follow along with, and provide extra activities and reinforcement of concepts at home. I am so thankful for all the caring and supportive teaching staff that provide regular updates on progress, and occasional notes on small events that demonstrate that they are following his development closely. As our, nearly 5 year old son, winds down his time at Sunshine House after attending from the age of 2, my wife and I have been reflecting on just HOW MUCH his time there has impacted his life. When we started him there, he could only say a few words. But within 6 months he grasped multiple words, their context and his social play was so noticeably different than before attending. Once he was talking fully, he has always expressed how much he loves his teachers, all of the things he learns (which he associates as play most of the time), all of the friends he now has, and the new things he can do (motor skills are constantly improving). From the day we first toured the school we felt comfortable by each teacher we spoke with, the schools "homey-feel", and each area being an interactive learning comfortable room. Each teacher brings a special piece of the puzzle that helps each child become more social, more confident and a better prepared toddler. We cannot thank Sunshine House enough for their dedication, their openness and their welcoming ways toward our son and our family. Each of you have been part of the full circle we hoped for in a preschool to help us mold a better little human to be best prepared for the next stages of his education and life. If you are looking for a childcare that will advocate for your families demographic and lifestyle DO NOT send your child here. My family moved to the area and my child was attending sunshine house Martinez for less than a month when I requested my child's care there be tailored very minutely, because it was never a problem at her previous childcare school you could understand my shock when I was immediately met with passive aggressive judgmental comments from the staff. Mind you, my daughters previous school had no problem working with me as the parent because I think we can all agree it's a parents right to say how their child is cared for within laws (which it definitely was) The next day I was called and my very FIRST option given to me by the school staff was that "I can unenroll my child and she can just stop going there" ....yea, not "let's see how we can work together", nothing even close. Because I know my rights and the law I advocated for myself. The staff I spoke with took me advocating for myself personal instead of what it was which was simply me advocating for my rights as a parent. In the few days following they called me and let me know they had a "meeting" with only the staff there and did not include me the parent...since it's my request I would assume that the I, the parent, should be involved in the discussion of the resolution. Nope. They very obviously were not taking into consideration my request from the beginning but also went as far as to make new school rules without discussing it with me or any other parents, just to be able to deny what I asked....Not because of laws or state licensing or CDC or the health administration but simply because they didn't feel like it. As a parent to have a school do all of that just to be against me and my family...the discrimination, disrespect and cold hearted behavior of their staff shows me that if you are not like them you are not welcome. Since I continued to advocate for myself as a parent they kicked my daughter out of the school, not because anything my daughter did as a matter of fact they did not mention once my daughter's well-being or my daughters education or any care about my daughter. They kicked my daughter out because they didn't like me, that is it. My daughter didn't hit anyone she did not act incorrectly she did not do anything bad to get kicked out, it wasn't about my child but because they did not like me, that I advocated and stood up for what I knew my rights were for some thing that was so minute but still I have a right as a parent to advocate for that and to express that. The Monday my daughter went back, the day before they kicked us out my daughter came home crying and acting out when I asked her she said all the teachers were being mean to her. Smh, how can grown ups be so petty to take it out on a child... I have got legal and state involved but I want to share this because Discrimination in school settings is not ok, it's honestly scary to think what other parents and children they have possibly done this to and just pushed out. read more

Our daughter started Sunshine House 3 years ago, and has made such wonderful friends and has learned so much! She loves the variety of learning she gets from being outside to the learning and table times, and looks forward to each new theme of the week. She is always excited about pajama and family breakfast day, and begs to go to pizza night. We love pizza night too - she's with her friends and teachers and we get an evening to ourselves! The teachers at Sunshine House are fantastic. I get an update from at least one teacher each afternoon, and my daughter is greeted as soon as she walks in the door in the mornings. I feel comfortable checking in with any of the teachers as they are all super approachable and in constant communication with each other. One last perk is that the other parents have been so welcoming and friendly too! We couldn't recommend Sunshine House enough :) read more

My son has been terrorizing Sunshine house for about a year now. He loves it, and we are consistently pleased with how much he seems to be learning. The teachers are all very friendly, and the boy seems to be getting smarter (although being a 3yo, it's really tough to say...sometimes he acts like an idiot on purpose...) My twins have been going to Sunshine House Martinez for three months and absolutely love it. We do too! The teachers are so caring and knowledgeable. I am extremely impressed by their organization and curriculum. They send out daily notices via email so that I know what my children will be learning and doing that day. They are professional, caring, and CLEAN. I have never gone to pick up my kids and the place was a mess. The rooms aren't smelly and I know that they disinfect twice a day. I think it really helps. They don't leave toys out and the kids are either working on crafts or playing out on the playground when I come at the end of the day. The teachers have a great handle on the children and show them respect. They are nothing short of wonderful. Not only do we love Sunshine House, the kids love going and have made a lot of friends. For the first few weeks the transition from being home all the time to going to school was a little difficult for our younger twin, but the teachers were so good about helping him adjust. Their patience is amazing! We can't sing their praises enough. Even our pediatrician recommended that we go to Sunshine House if we could get them in. I'm so glad that we were able to. We put them on their waiting list as soon as they turned one. The school kept us on their list until they were old enough to start. We currently have the kids going three times a week, but next year we will definitely be bumping them up to five. read more

We started here when our daughter was freshly two. They made her transition of no care to three full days, a breeze. Same goes for potty training. The facility is ALWAYS clean and organized which has instilled a sense of responsibility in my daughter to contribute to having that at home also. I've never felt like any of my questions were silly or annoying, and communication is top notch. Their evaluations of students have provided such great insight for us and left us feeling like they really know my daughter and care for her as an individual. Even when I decided to stay home from work with the arrival of our second child, and the price didn't make logical sense for us to keep her there, it was a no brainer for us to invest in her this way.
