Interesting café, found this place on Yelp that decided to give it a try while I was out of town. I joined by myself, but I felt safe. Their service was great. My server's name was Ruben. He was so professional and on top of the service. He made the whole experience. Great try that place for the first time. Parking is easy the hotel surrounding areas look a little rundown. There were some sketchy people kind of lingering around inside, but I think that's this area in general. Salad and chicken strips were good. Fries were amazing. Ranch was awesome. read more

Ordered 3 slices of cake to go. A carrot cake, a German chocolate cheesecake, and a chocolate cake. They messed up and gave us 2 German and 1 carrot. That wasn't the worst part. Upon opening the cheesecake I noticed the "eat by" date on the slices of cake were from over 1 week ago! Super weird. read more

Sunshine cafe reminds me of a time when I was a kid of a old fashioned cafe. The staff was friendly and the selection of food was good. I was craving pairs and they had them so I got that along with four strips of bacon. Still taste good but they were definitely on the super sweet side , so next time I'll ask them to reduce the sugar level. I would come back here again. read more

It was my first time dinning in Sunshine cafe. It was a pleasant experience. We ordered hamburger with fries and chicken plate. Hamburger tasted good and fries were freshly made not frozen. I really like it when cafes/ restaurants serve fresh fries instead of frozen ones. Our server was a young lady who was very nice and friendly. She went above and beyond in providing customer service. She made sure she got our order right. For the ambiance, this cafe has a lovely ambiance. It is nicely decorated and there are plenty of seats which means no wait time. I've eaten here with pleasure multiple times during my stay at DHS. The food is good, the portions are fine, the staff is super nice and helpful, and the prices are retro great. In fact, the whole place is retro... a blast from the past. The vinyl booths, the scooped-out counter seating (maybe to accommodate big bellies??), sometimes even a waitress that calls you honey. It's really out of the 50s. Somewhere in time. Big windows on two sides, for views both of the hot spring pools, and outside to the hills. Poolside patio, too. Or venture into the darkish "lounge" for a cocktail with the Rat Pack -- they'll be there, at least in spirit. Nice mural on the wall. I've had the veggie burger: a bean patty with avocado, sprouts, and cheese included, with their oyster-shell-shaped fries. And the chef's salad with a baked potato with sour cream and chives. And every morning my personal favorite breakfast: one egg scrambled, hash browns, and a biscuit -- for a mere 6 bucks. A big cage of condiments is supplied, including several types of hot sauce. I don't even know how many stars to give this place. When my husband and I come, we sit at the bar every time because there's a view of the pool vs. sitting in the dining room taking in a view of the kitchen. I am a customer who came I. To relax, have a nice salad and cocktail. I have NO CLUE, nor do I care about the issues between the two bartenders but each one hustled around slamming the doors to the reach - in refrigerators while complaining about each other. One announced that "I've been here since 6am and now Ruben is going to be late soni have to wait for him before I get to go home only to come back and do it again tomorrow." The bartender who took her place also rushed around slamming the reach- in refers complaining how the previous bartender "Left me such a mess, it's going to take a while to get your drink." Mind you - there are only 5 people at the bar (that includes my husband and I) and I've seen 6 walk ins in the 2.5 hours I've been here. But when they focus on the customers rather than complaining about each other, they are both absolutely lovely to talk to. So if you're coming to relax, chill out and have a drink, this might not be for you. However - the food is amazing! The ranch is always good the lettuce comes in enormous pieces and over piled on the plate, so you'll make a mess when you cut it, but it's fresh, not iceberg and not wilted, I love that. The French fries are so good! They have this weird curl to them so they grab the sauce perfectly! The hamburger WOW! Perfectly cooked, hot and amazing! Again, just Wow! Located at the desert Springs Hotel and spa, this is a great option if you are staying here. The prices are very affordable and everything was made quickly. The stuff is very nice. Great a few plans on spending the day by the pool as you can enjoy your food and drinks by the pool as well. read more

Come hungry, leave full and happy! The Sunshine Cafe has hearty portions and is reliably delicious. It's frequented by both locals and vacationers, since it is located within the Dessert Hot Springs resort. On my last visit, I opted for the All American Breakfast. I loved everything on my plate, including the eggs, french toast, and potatoes. Note- I gave the meat options to someone else, but they were also well received. My only note is that peppers and onions aren't typically something I expect on my potatoes, so giving diners a heads up that that is the case would be helpful. Honestly, sharing an All American Breakfast with someone else is probably the way to go. If you're vacationing with a family, they have a family feast option for a really affordable price. Honestly, I don't know how the turn a profit with how reasonable the pricing is. With friendly and speedy diner-style service, you can't go wrong. This is definitely my go-to spot for a quick and hearty breakfast in the Palm Springs area. Is it a fancy-pants brunch spot? no. But it is authentic in what it offers and will leave you full and ready for the day. read more

Classic breakfast foods. You really can't go wrong!! We enjoyed our meals and liked this place. It's really outdated but that's what makes it feel homey and comfortable. The food was really good except my pancakes were a little cold. Service is a tad bit slow but they were busy so that's okay! We went to this cafe based on yelp reviews. When you drive up the place is a little run down looking and we almost turned around but like they say don't judge a book by its cover. The food was great. Not a huge menu but what they do have is all very good, decent prices, I'd say the chicken salad was not great! Coffee sucks. Plenty of parking, Saturday they had karaoke. Sunshine cafe is one of my favorite dinner spots to come to in Desert Hot Springs, I come all the way from Palm Desert/La Quinta area to enjoy the relaxing and casual vibes at this restaurant Desert Hot Springs. The location is out of the mix and very enjoyable. We usually come and request Kaitlyn as our server. She's fantastic at her job and cares about everyone she serves with exceptional treatment. I've been in the restaurant on slow and busy nights and she's always very attentive to all her guests as we notice. Other than the amazing service the food is also really good!
