We took our dog to Dr. Grimmett while visiting edmond for a skin condition that had been ongoing for months. Our home vet had seen her 3 times, prescribed the same treatment all 3 times and it clearly wasn't helping. Dr. Grimmett asked more questions and learned more about the problems and gave us better information than our home vet had in all that time. She was amazing! We had a very good vet here. He left & was the last vet to see our dog. Our dog had had his yearly testing for heart-worms (negative) & given a prescription to prevent them. I went in to get his pill like I always had & a tech told me that the dog may have changed weight & since the doctor that saw him last was no longer there - I would have to bring him back in for a visit (I already paid for this). I called the front desk later & asked why they would attempt to bill me twice for something I already paid for (they really need to take a Business Law class). She told me that none of the people working there would have said that because they all know the policy. I'm not so many words, she called me a liar. She said it must have been a misunderstanding - it definitely was not. I am a highly educated person; I did not misunderstand. Then she said that she wasn't going to "sit on the phone and argue", though this is a problem that is their job to solve & calling a client a liar (saying that I would misrepresent facts) is her attempt at an argument. STOP BLAMING YOUR CLIETS FOR YOUR OWN ERROR IN JUDGEMENT... I am so confident in what I was told that I will leave a written statement & if you want to sue me for it - try. The front office staff and the girl that helped with the intake were all so caring and kind. Dr. White even followed up with me yesterday on test results for one of the pups. Don't use them. They will rip you off every chance they get. I was told once we were an established patient there was not a fee to inject my dog with her allergy medication. Today they charged me a fee to inject the medicine, an office visit fee and a fee to run a heartworm test before they would refill her medication eventhough she's been on HW prevention. $500 today feels a bit much for a shot. If I could give no stars I would! Did not inform me that if I got my dog a heart worm shot she absolutely can not have any oral medication until her shot date runs out!! My dog had an allergic reaction and the vet caught that she had the heart worm shot said it could have killed her to have oral meds! I took my dog in today to followup an appointment and exam from 45 days ago. At that exam they indicated my dog needed a DA2PPV (3 year) shot and it would be 37.75. I clarified at that time that there would not be another exam fee as it was just a followup vaccination. They confirmed this. I cconfirmed before bringing in my dog that the total charge would be just the $37.75 and no exam fee again. That was confirmed. Today I took in my dog, she was in the room with me for maybe a total of three minutes to bring in the shot and another tech to lift the dog up on their table and immediately give her a shot. I took about 30 seconds total. The tech then totaled my bill and it included another exam fee. I refused to pay this citing their price and treatment confirmation. She came back in and reduced the bill to the agreed amount of $37.75. On the way out I talked to the receptionist to inform her I was not happy with the attempt to brazen =ly fleece me out of another exam fee. She straight-faced told me that the fee was to cover the time the VET TOOK OUT OF HER DAY TO CONSIDEER THIS REQUEST! UNBELIEVABLE!!! I infromed her I would NEVER come back with this unbelievable customer service treatment. I would not recommend this clinic as it appears to me ther are not interested in customers and their pets but fleecing the custome out of every penny they can! read more

We found Sunset because two other veterinarians recommended the practice. I have had all of my dogs with Sunset since we moved here in 2015. Two of them have had some special needs. One crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2016 because of cancer and the other this past June due to complications from old age and hip dysplasia. We have our new puppy under their care now. When our primary vet there moved out of the area in 2016, I called her and asked where I should take my dogs. She said without hesitation, "Those vets are legit and will go to the ends of the earth for your animals." So, we stayed. I have recommended many friends to them and they have had the same experience I've had. In my experiences there, the entire staff is knowledgeable, compassionate, and we are grateful!!! read more

Here is the scoop with this place... The front-desk girls run the world! They are kind, polite, go out-of-their way to serve my pet-obsessed needs, laugh at my jokes, figure out ways to cut corners, and of course they make me feel like I'm their favorite client. The vet-techs are great too. They never make me feel like I'm a bad dog-mom or like I'm too dog-obsessed. They listen and some of them laugh at my jokes. BUT, the pricing/coding/fee scale is outrageous. The vets are all good and trust-worthy but every time I'm there it feels like there is one more thing my pet "needs", which equals one more charge. There is a office-visit price-range. WHAT!? This morning, my daughter took her dog in for an $18 Kennel Cough shot. That's all she needed. Her bill was $190!!! They also did a heart worm check ($39) and a Wellness Exam ($66) without asking first. That is $100 of services she didn't ask for! *They also discovered, after gathering his shot records up, he needed other shots... again, nice job front-desk girls. read more

Sunset Veterinary Clinic is wonderful. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the veterinarians are all very caring and have great compassion for the animals. Unfortunately, our first experience with the Clinic was when our dog became very ill and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. I was not able to take him to the vet, and so my husband took him, but Although Dr. Grimmett didn't even know me, she called that same day and spoke to me on the phone for at least 15 minutes and answered all my questions and was very honest about referring our pup to a specialist. Spud ended up passing away the night before his specialist's appointment a week later. Sunset sent the nicest card with really genuine messages inside, and it is still on our fridge 7 months later. We switched our two other dogs' care to Sunset, and have also now seen Dr. Kennemer who is equally as wonderful as Dr. Grimmett. I would very highly recommend this practice! I have always thought they were a little overpriced but today takes the cake. At a wellness check in the past, they charged $8 to trim my dog's nails. So today, when I was picking up some medication, I asked if anyone could trim my dogs nails. I wondered why they weighed her for just a nail trim. Well when I checked out, my charge was $8 for the nail trim and then an additional $25 for "office visit/non office visit". $33 for a nail trim! Shady! I could have gotten a bath and haircut for not much more than that at the groomer. Go elsewhere. read more

These people are really great! I use a vet who comes to my home for routine vaccinations. I've used her for a long time and really love her and want to continue with her. However, she doesn't do surgery or some other things she isn't equipped for. I wondered how I would be received when I called Sunset Vets about spaying my new pup. They could not have been more accommodating! They reached out to my vet to get my dog's history and treated me like I'd been their customer for years. They were all really fantastic across the board from how they handled my dog, to the professional way they interacted with me. They left me with the impression that they truly cared about my dog as an individual. Dr. Grimmett was knowledgable, personable, and took time to talk to me about my dog, not just her procedure. Exceptional care by excellent veterinarians! One of my dogs had a bum leg and Dr. Grimmett wasn't satisfied when the tests showed nothing wrong. She referred us on to a specialist where we received bad news about our beloved PePe. Dr. Grimmett and Dr. Kennemer were with us every step of the way. They were never too busy for advice on treatment or increasing pain medicine during his final days. All the staff were so kind and compassionate when we made the difficult decision to put him to sleep--and they made the experience as caring as possible. We have used this clinic since 2001. We have had multiple dogs and they have always been upfront about cost and honest with us. We have had a dog with diabetes and a thyroid condition; a dog with cancer; and a dog with an internal tumor unknown if it was cancer. We were given many options on what was best for each dog. If they are uncomfortable treating your pet they will recommend a provider who can treat them. I have witnessed first hand their compassion towards the animals and their owners. Terrible clinic, repeated visits they have overcharged and performed things not needed for our pet(s). They just say sorry and still say you need to pay after performing procedures that were not agreed upon. Another dog received improper care, and then charged us with the treatment to fix their mistake and dumped the dog back onto us, with no knowledge of the incident til we picked up the pet. No phone call, no courtesy warning, no call to even let us know the dog was ready to be retrieved. Do not recommend this place, there's many other options for good vets. read more
