One day a tiny little girl fell in love with horses. She grew up on a horse property and on the back of a horse, then personally owned several horse hobby farms and had many, many horses over the years. She had done it all, rodeo, color guard, horse shows, trail riding, western, English, you name it, if it had horses involved she was there! Until...she sold it all and moved to Florida to start a new adventure. She missed her horse life for a few years and then God showed her, quite by accident, her true and heaven sent heart horse! Well what does a little girl (now on her way towards 50) do when she can't resist having horses back in her life? Well, she sets out on another adventure to find her fur baby a home and bring him to Florida to be with her. Moving forward, she sets out visiting horse stables all over her area, that will be perfect for her and her horse. She gets a little discouraged at the very high cost snotty type barns that weren't a good fit for her. Until...almost the last stable visit planned, she meets Rita at her Sunset Riding Stables. Can this little piece of paradise be real? Can an instant friendship with Rita. the owner, be true? Well it was quickly determined it was where her and her fur baby were meant to be and we needed Rita as much as she needed us! You see, Rita was going through an adventure of her own at the time, battling cancer, while the entire time keeping up her stable and business. She needed another good friend as much as we did. God's timing and plan was clear and our barn family and home was complete! Sunset Riding Stables and our dear friend Rita, here we come! Fast forward to today, where I sit and tell you a bit of my story, about love, healing, friendship, peace, tranquility and how that all happens at Sunset Riding Stables. While there may be fancy, expensive, show barns to board at or lush 175+ acre rolling farms in Florida, Sunset Riding Stables is perfect for us. The peace and quiet, the sound of the wind blowing through the moss dripped trees, all surrounded by friends and barn family and their precious fur babies. The riding arena, round pen, wash bays, and total control over my horses feed choice was exactly what I wanted. My board selection, comes with hay at-his will in a round bale. I am able to buy my own grain choice for my boy that suits his needs physically. I can adapt with his needs as I see fit and choose my farrier and vet for his extended care. I have turn out for his exercise choice, available in the large arena and have been known to have a few "grass picnics" when the rains in Florida finally come and bring about a nice relaxing grassy area to just hang out with my horse and my dog. We have barn family potluck cookouts, and planned outings from time to time. I don't drink or have any bad habits, so this safe relaxing family style environment continues to be perfect for me. I have met many new friends that are supportive and kind and love our barn and barn family as much as I do. I go at night sometimes to just sit after work with my horse and dog and just hear the night and peace it brings to me there. It has a key code gated entry so I never feel unsafe when I'm alone there. I have even lit up the arena and had a few rides at night when it was cool and breezy. Well, now you have heard a bit of my story and hopefully have learned about Sunset Riding Stables and Rita Lundberg. Rita, who by the way, BEAT that cancer and is doing better than ever. Rita, who even through her own struggles, would help anyone she could and be a true friend to those who are true to her. She loves her Sunset Riding Stables and the horses as much as we do. Starving horses, emaciated horses, injured horses and highly unsafe living conditions for all animals. Starved horses were eating feces and others ate sand and tree bark. Poor quality hay was rationed in small amounts, the barn is stifling hot and filled with flies. I had grain I purchased go missing. When I asked the Owner, Rita Lundberg, what happened to the grain? She became loud and irate. Rita continued to argue and then sent other boarders to ambush me and my family as we were trying to leave. Rita also holds large parties and gets drunk with her friends daily. During the weekend May 12-14, 2023 she held a large party. My horse became injured during this weekend and displayed unfamiliar behavior to me. My horse and I have been together for 10 years. I believe Rita in her drunken stupor absued my horse and frightened her. I decided to evacuate the property shortly after. When I confronted Rita for board reimbursement since I did not say the whole month she yelled at me and threw the contract at me. I had looked over the contract before signing and it was poorly written and missing several disclosures. The contract was a copy paste document from a Google template. I did not get my money back; however, I will not stand for my own horses to be starved. I'm a professional in the Equine industry, unlike Rita, and her behavior/ treatment of animals is highly unacceptable. The local Sheriff's office/Animal Control has been notified to ensure no other animals or people fall into the trap. read more

When my daughter boarded her horse at SUNSET she had grain stolen. When she asked Rita what happened she yelled at my daughter and made her come home in tears. When I called Rita to get to the bottom of it she called my daughter a liar and theif. I didn't like that type of reply especially coming from an adult and no one has the right to yell at My child. My husband and I picked up our horse that evening. read more

I went to look at a horse Rita had for sale. The horse was super thin and very ill behaved. I noticed a Stallion was kept in a tiny paddock right next to the arena. I didn't feel safe and did not attempt to ride. I left and the whole trip was a waste of time. read more
