They have an efficient system set up here. Weigh in, drive over to the dumping area, someone…read moreshows you where to back in and guides you, then you unload or dump your stuff between huge trash trucks, small cars, pickups and trailers, and everything between. Minimum load is somewhere around $59. They also accept E-waste; this is the correct place to dump off that old tube TV. You might see huge roll-off dumpsters overflowing with emptied plastic TV cabinets. They buy cardboard by the ton, it was $70 last time I saw. Wear disposable gloves, and shoes you don't care about- the veneer of liquidy trash mush on the ground is nasty. If you plan to bring more than one load, keep your receipt for the tare weight and you won't have to weigh out each time. I've seen some strange things being discarded: a whole fiberglass boat, truckloads of spoiled food, hundreds of boxes of new shoes, the remainder inventory and fixtures of entire stores, and other "Who throws THAT away?!?" wonders. The smell is another one of those wonders- simultaneously awful yet not as bad as you might expect. Everything getting dumped moves through quickly and is gone within minutes to hours of being dropped.

The pricing board that you see when you enter the site is very misleading. I had a pickup truck loaded up and assumed it would be counted as an uncovered load with a cost of $25 but after you weigh in, offload, weigh out and receive your receipt. Then, and ONLY then do you see the Terms that show that "ALL INCOMING LOADS ARE SUBJECT TO A ONE TON MINIMUM" I assumed ok i paid for up to 1 Ton right so i can do a couple more loads. NO, as the terms say every load is an individual is a charge.

Great place to recycle. Matthew, the attendant is always friendly and helpful. He started off by…read moreexplaining all of the prices along with what they accept and what they do not. There are some item they will recycle for you but they do not pay cash for them. The center has very competitive prices they offer for items. They compete with the big recycling plant plant and in my opinion beat them in customer service. Thank you again Sunset for a smooth transaction. Matthew, I have to apologize, just I as I got back home I realized I left my trash bags scattered. I did not mean to do that.

Be careful if you come to this recycling center. My mom came here recently with my little sister,…read moreand she was not the only one who felt she was underpaid. Three people ahead of her also questioned the amount they received because the math did not add up. My mom checked the numbers afterward and realized she was missing about $13. When customers started counting their money and asking questions, the workers told them they had to leave and could not stand there. They denied doing anything wrong, but when people continued complaining, they gave some customers a couple more dollars to calm the situation down. This experience felt very shady and unprofessional. Customers should not feel rushed out or uncomfortable for checking whether they were paid correctly. I'm sharing this so others know to double-check everything before leaving.
