This is an excellent trail for hiking, biking, skiing, and snowmobiling. It's obvious that the trail is well maintained as there are piles of freshly cut brush along the edges. I like to start at Rockwood Rd near Manitowoc and walk north from there.. the trail passes farms, fields, and woods. You will see all kinds of birds and other wildlife on a hike. This will become one of my favorite hikes.

The trail is mostly straight and has minimal elevation change (less than 50 feet over the entire 14.25 miles). While the views may not be stunning, they are quite bucolic. Rolling fields with grazing cows, lush farmland, wooden bridges over deep ravines contains bubbling brooks. There are small parking areas along the trail allowing for various start points. The main trail head is in Denmark and the other end is on Rockwood Road (near Big Apple (bar and grill). I recommend starting at Rockwood, packing a picnic, and taking a break at the Denmark trail head pavilion (which has restrooms).

A staff member provides a comprehensive review of the boat and it's features, and then you are free to cruise the blue-green waters of the Chain O' Lakes all day. The pontoon (20' Hydrotherapy) was clean and comfortable, the canopy kept us shaded when the sun was hot, you have swim stairs in case you want to stop at a sandbar and cool off, and there were no issues at all with the motor. Plus they give you a map showing the lakes in the chain, detailing which ones are no-wake so the day was relaxing and trouble-free from start to finish.

Their friendliness and no-pressure approach made the whole experience very enjoyable. Tim carefully explained every feature of a particular kayak that interested me, most of which I never would have known it had. As a result I bought a great Old Town fishing kayak, from a great store, at a great price. If you are tired of the impersonal treatment at the big box stores, then you need to go to Adventure Outfitters.

In order to eat here you have to pay an additional $37 fee per person, but you do get access to their exclusive trails to explore after lunch. We were very happy we took the time to walk the trails, it was a beautiful and diverse landscape and such a lovely walk! The restaurant itself was super cozy and up north feeling. Old log cabin vibes, you really feel like you're dining in the middle of the woods at a cabin up north. There's a large wood burning fireplace when you walk in that adds to the cozy ambiance. Lunch was not busy, so it felt a little dead and there was no music playing which was fine but just kind of quiet when we were put in a back room alone. I did get the feeling that it's obvious who's members and who's not at the treatment you might get. For being so quiet, service was really slow but luckily we were in no rush. We split their wild rice and mushroom soup, a pheasant blt and elk tenderloin sandwich. Everything was really tasty, the meat was done well. You didn't get an option for your side and they just served everything with a very mayo-forward pasta salad that I did not find appetizing. Overall, a super neat and unique experience.

Sylvan Hill is a public park for winter tubing. The 2016/2017 season runs until March 5th. Check…read morewith the facility for specific hours. Many times it closes from 5 PM until 6 PM. Locals and visitors are welcome. Sunday nights are reserved for private events. Tubes are provided. Parking is free. The field house serves as a warming center with a large fireplace and snacks available to purchase. The menu offers items such as chips, candy, granola bars, hot dogs, mac & cheese, nachos, pretzels, pizza, etc. You are welcome to bring in your own snacks sole long as you consume them in the lower level. There are two slopes with a total of six runs. All of the runs end at the same central location (bottom of hills). Tubers are then pulled via cable back up the slopes. Tubers can hook up with each other for a faster ride. Some employees frown on this practice and limit you to four hookups. Other employees don't seem to mind if you expand. Logically, if more people go down the hill together it leaves less people waiting at the top. Overall, I recommend Sylvan Hill if you are in the Wausau area. It's a good value and you'll have a good time.

Boot Lake Recreation Area is wonderful park on the shores of Boot Lake…read more There's a hiking trail, beach and swimming area, as well as a campground. We recently stayed in the campground, which was great. Their sites are large and offer plenty of privacy. We were in spot #26 (there's only one loop of camping spaces, so it's definitely on the smaller side) and it was a long campsite with our trailer nestled at the back. We had tons of privacy with a canopy of pines overhead. Each campsite has a fire pit and picnic table. There aren't hookups but they do have clean and well maintained pit bathrooms (no showers or plumbed bathrooms). Like most campgrounds, they ask that you purchase your firewood within 10 miles of the campground, which was easily done. We purchased a huge load for $20 at a nearby house. The lake itself is gorgeous (so clear!) and we enjoyed kayaking and swimming. We stumbled across a rope swing and had fun swinging into the lake. There's a hiking trail that seems to go around the entire lake. We took it about 1/4 of the way before turning around but had we had more time would have made for a fun (long!) hike! One of our favorite campgrounds thus far in Wisconsin! Get to it!
