Our room included a mini fridge with an icebox and a microwave, and I was very pleasantly surprised to find Celiac-safe breakfast options at the free breakfast downstairs (not a typical find at most hotels I've stayed at!), including more than one prepackaged gluten-free muffin option (Udi's and Red Plate Foods) as well as prepackaged yogurt and fruit. My one complaint was some confusion with the thermostat on the wall not controlling the AC unit like it was supposed to, but it still kept us nice and cool. I would definitely stay here again!

I had colleagues on different floors who told me their experience was better. Someone said first floor rooms may be the better option. I stayed at a room on the 3rd floor my first visit and then on the second my 2nd visit. Both were similar. The room in the 3rd floor AC controls were on the window unit. The room in the 2nd floor AC controls were through the control unit in the wall. Both rooms had a damp smell and feeling. It smelled old. I couldn't get over it. The gym was smaller than most Hampton Inns I've been in. A colleague on the second floor said she saw bugs in the closet. I saw tiny bugs in the shower. I understand it's a smaller town, there were very few options and this hotel is older. Not many solutions besides renovating the whole thing...

Our room had 2 queens and a sitting area with a desk. The sitting area was weird in that when you sat on the couch you couldn't really see the TV since they built a half wall to section it off from the bedroom. They also give you free Wi-fi. Too bad the wi-fi is super slow and often would stop working. We also had less than great maid service. They seemed to do the absolute minimum and didn't replenish anything (soaps, coffee, etc...). The pool was a bit small, and 3 ft deep at one end and 5 feet deep at the other, but it was inside, which was nice. There's towels you can use at the pool so you dont have to bring one from your room. Also, the parking lot was a bit wonky - dont know why its laid out the way it is. When I questioned it, the clerk became offended and angry. She said the that the information seen and told to me was wrong. I questioned her about how that could be. She said 'FINE, I'LL PAY THE 430 FOR YOU!!' I reminded her that I was willing to pay the $20 as clearly stated. Then she called me 'HON'. Not the nice and charming 'Hon" of the South. It was the snarky 'HON' that says "I'M IN CHARGE HERE!' . . .and you are Not." Then she called an employee from the back to bring her wallet. She opened it like she was going to pay for it. I have no idea if she did or not. I apologized for any misunderstanding and suggested we start over. She said "IT'S DONE!" I thought to myself Y I K E S!....we are going to get a really nasty room . . . and I was right! * We had to keep opening the toilet lid to flush. I finally figured out how to fix it by sticking my hand in the tank and moving the chain to a different location on the arm and reclipping it. Yuck!! We appreciated the hotel providing the first floor for my disabled wife. We did NOT appreciate the 7am construction RIGHT outside our window and RIGHT in the blocked EV charging lot. I chose this hotel and paid extra specifically because there was an EV charger. This place only has two, and blocking one is not cool. Starting construction outside my room while I have a disability that doesn't handle that isn't cool (that's not cool at ANY hotel). The digger was also perilously close to my car. A minor complaint - there were supposed to be two water bottle in our room. There weren't. The room was SIXTY degrees. I have brand loyalty to a fault. Once you piss me off, I have no reason to trust you again. You pissed me off. And at twice the price. Oh Hampton Inn...I remember paying extra for you twenty years ago and feeling good about it. Not ever. Not ever again. I can't say this forcefully enough. I stay in a lot of hotels, and I like to support companies that do well. You have left this support. While I appreciate accommodating my wife's disability by putting us in the first floor, my own disability (and probably every other human) can't tolerate construction sounds at 7am just outside their windows. I'm embarrassed for this hotel. Gross. My family and I will use our money more selectively in the future.
