Sunset Hills Golf Club, is a fabulous hidden Midwestern gem. So is their amazing resturant (Mashie's). The amount of research and experience of the executive staff is a rarity. Fortunately, for those of us that already know about the course and resturant; we have the luxury to visit whenever our schedule permits us to do so.
However, something that doesn't cross our mind is that Sunset Hills Golf Club has never been required to maintain a large advertising budget. This is because after all these years it has always had positive growth through "word of mouth," which is why I am writing this review.
There are several facts many individuals and local corporations do not realize. For example, many do not realize how dedicated the owner's want you to feel when you leave the grounds and you have taken advantage of everything offered; you will feel like you have experienced the epitome of golf and dinner.
A few years ago, the owner's traveled to the "The Mother Golf Course," yes St. Andrews. During this visit, the course was played and the owner's met with as many people as possible. Upon return to Sunset, changes were made seamlessly as possible; to better the course. Also, during countless trips to other courses and their restaurants, throughout the entire world, to discover what works and what doesn't. They would never use their loyal friends and family at Sunset Hills Golf Club, as their own personal test market. This research was completed at their own expense. But, it allows visitors to the golf course, resturant, or both; a equivalently best possible experience.
So the next time you feel like playing a round of golf, or your company is looking for the best place for miles, you can't go wrong with selecting Sunset Hills Golf Club.
As I write this, it is almost dinner time. Think about this, a locally raised and hand selected Angus filet mignon, grilled to perfection, a loaded baked potato, and green beans; like your Mom used to make.
I believe it is time to head over to Mashie's!
And, to think I was just there, 72+° in February in Central Illinois, who could have resisted the calling of the best 18 holes, just waiting to be played. read more
