I went there for myself to arrange my burial at Riverside National Cemetery when I'm called home; and everything was great. Only one problem, I've got an over 800 credit score and Andy said I could finance burial costs, and I said I would like to do that. I hadn't heard from until a week or two when he called and said they couldn't get me financed. I was in shock well to make a long story short I juist paid for it and it was done. I wish I could leave a review somewhere between 4 and 5 stars. Mel helped us put together our memorial service for my Mom and he was very responsive and caring to us. The venue was beautiful and the service was gorgeous. However there were a couple major disappointments that everyone should watch out for: We asked for a presbyterian minister but were given a nondenominational pastor who I won't name but was overly talkative and interjected way too much during the service. Be careful to speak to your pastor far in advance or find your own if it is important that you receive the proper denomination. If you receive Brother Paul as your tech person with the Church, be prepared for very low commitment and effort. I was told he would be there an hour early to make sure everything went smoothly. But he got there literally 5 minutes before the start of the service and had problems playing my tribute video properly. Instead of trying to figure out how to fix it, he blamed the video even though it plays flawlessly on every phone and laptop. While the service was beautiful, I will forever look back on these problems with frustration and regret. read more

Losing a loved one and then immediately having to make arrangements for a funeral can feel like a nightmare. I unexpectedly lost my father in February and Sunset made this process easier for my family. Jenny and Kathy were great and were available anytime I called them. They were both warm and welcoming and answered all of our questions. We went with the private viewing and service at the Redlands United Church and it turned out to be a beautiful celebration of my Father's life. They brought tables for refreshments and we brought coffee and light refreshments. I recommend this location because it is in a peaceful area of Redlands and has a very green and open outdoor area. Well from the looks of these other reviews I caught these guys on an "off" day? We were not impressed. There were no handout pamphlets, sign-in register book, no organization for the guests, and trying to find them to ask for guidance was a hide and seek game. The only service Sunset provided was to bring an urn with the hearse, then wonder around aimlessly. What I would expect? Sign-in book, greet guests, handout pamphlets, have flowers staged, sound system checked and ready, and provide a welcoming and warm environment (inside their chapel or any other facility), then a way to close a service with purpose and direction. read more

She was not a typical stoic member of the death care industry, she cried with my sister and helped her so much. I cannot emphasize enough how special it was to have such personal care. Sunset funeral care is just amazing. You would never think of a funeral home as a highly recommended necessity, however when you need their services what you get is a friend. It's a difficult time for family making arrangements and all the other emotional dealings of planning a funeral. We had my mother who had passed away to plan for. Mom was a veteran. Dad had passed away back in 1978. My brothers and I wanted to have mom and dad placed side by side in Riverside National cemetery. This involved dis interning dad having his remains cremated then placed in a crypt next to mom. The BEST! The initial appointment at Sunset was with Jenny. She was very informative and professional. it was quite obvious from the beginning that she takes great pride in all she does. There were no hidden costs or surprises at any time. We never felt rushed. Her partner Tony was also very accommodating and professional. They were both at the gravesite and was so willing to assist the elderly as well as help with the personal items we needed to carry to the site. Both Tony and Jenny went above and beyond their duties. They even went out of their way to drive to the reception to bring the guest book and other items that were left behind. Jenny was wonderful to work with, as were all the members of the extended family in this family-run business. When an unexpected death occurs, you have little time to decide on a funeral home. I had the body sent to another funeral home with no research, and then the next day, met with a representative from that funeral home and also from Sunset. The difference was large, not only in price, but in outlook. I then went ahead and paid a fee to the original funeral home in order to switch. It turned out several thousand dollars cheaper at Sunset, but even had the prices been reversed, I'd still have preferred Sunset; they have a very personal touch and made a very difficult process somewhat easier. read more

I only have one word to describe Sunset Funeral Care, and that word is awesome. My dad passed away at Redlands Community Hospital in the latter part of June 2022. My dad had no pre-arranged plans, no life insurance, nothing. My mom and I were left having to scramble to find a funeral place that performed direct cremation with an affordable price that wouldn't break our bank, and leave us in financial stress. The first place I went to was a popular place here in town. The Funeral Director there was nice and honest, and sat down with me and detailed the process. He honestly told me they were a larger funeral home, and that their prices were mid-range higher than other places. I would seriously give them 5 star rating just for that honesty. The guy I talked to at the second funeral home I visited seemed a little rude, and stood out in the hall talking to me, telling me how much they charged, and then added a bunch of extra fees on top of that total that were not part of the package. The total ended up being a little cheaper than the first but was still on the high side. The third funeral home I visited was Sunset Funeral Care. I noticed this funeral home was smaller and quaint, and quickly recognized that this was a small family owned and operated business. Now, there is a special place in my heart for small businesses, because my family and I actually used to own a couple small businesses in the mall right across the street from where this funeral home is. My dad had his optical business in this mall for almost 40 years before it closed. The Lady I met at Sunset Funeral Care was really nice and compassionate, and went through all the details of the process and the pricing. They had a cremation package and one price, no bunch of hidden little extras fees. I told her what I was looking for, and was told that they would help my mom and I make the whole process as easy, and the least stressful as possible. The lady there took down my name number to give to Jenny the funeral home director. Jenny called me a little later that afternoon, and was really nice, and I felt really comfortable talking to her. Talking to Jenny on the phone was like talking to a close family friend which was a real plus. She answered all my questions I had, and reassured me that they were there to help my mom and I make this process the least stressful as possible. She even expressed her condolences to my mom over the phone on the loss of my dad, which was really awesome. It didn't take us long at all after the call to decide to go with Sunset Funeral Care. In this situation the third times the charm. Jenny and her team were really awesome, and they made the whole process very easy, and the least stressful as promised. My husband and I had never had to plan a funeral before and were completely lost when trying to plan for our daughter's funeral. I spoke with Jenny and she was amazing. She gently walked us through everything, was caring and compassionate and stayed on top of all the paperwork, even over the weekend when we found out there may be some complications with getting it all finished on time. We had a very good experience with sunset funeral care. We called the office to make an appointment and were scheduled very quickly. The staff was very friendly and nice. We had a pretty good idea how we wanted everything handled but didn't know all the specifics of what we needed to do. The staff took down what we wanted and gave us the different options that were available. They also explained a lot of information regarding paperwork and legal stuff that we were completely unaware of. We never felt like we were being sold to. By the end of our initial visit we've both felt comfortable like someone was in our corner fighting for us. Staff explained the process, what to expect, and how long things would take. They also explained different obstacles that we might run into and give us assistance in dealing with them especially regarding death certificates and copies and whole bunch of other stuff that I can't remember now. We felt the prices were reasonable and the care was outstanding. But beyond that, the knowledge of the process that the staff possess was probably the greatest help. We were able to call them with any questions or any concerns and get an immediate answer. If you are overwhelmed and aren't sure what to do or what needs to be done.
