Now the Bike Shed has moved to Cathedral Road it has more space than at its old premises on Wyndham Crescent, and they've added new makes to their range including Trek, Pashley, Raleigh and Cooper. Apart from the bikes themselves, they also have loads of cycling accessories, from child seats for the back of your bike through to gloves, helmets and clothing. From fairly low-price goods through to high-end brands, they offer stock for most budgets. You can also get your bike repaired and serviced by experienced staff and they supply parts by dozens of cycling brands such as Rock Shox, Endura, Truvativ, Shimano, Mavic, Avid, etc. The staff are all cycling experts, and are knowledgeable on local issues such as good biking trails and Cardiff's Bike To Work scheme - so you can find out all sorts by having a chat with them. Highly recommended for any Cardiff cyclists out there.

They don't care if they have any knowledge or passion about the product they are selling. The people working at the Bike Shed know their stuff and you can tell - their enthusiasm is infectious. They don't won't to sell you a bike to make money, they want to find you the right bike so you enjoy biking. That's why I bought a bike off them that I ride all the time. If you're after a bike or just some advice - pop in here -there is no hard sell just friendly advice.

As a keen cyclist I was a Cyclopedia regular when I lived this side of town. The shop is well stocked and parts can also be custom made. The chaps that work here are extremely knowledgable and friendly. These people are good, very good, they have been established for 16 years. As well as selling new parts, they also offer the only bike fitting service in South Wales, fix all makes and models of bikes, without the need to book and even fix punctures while you wait.

I love my bike and being without it is tough. It's my only means of transport. Braddicks is a little treasure on the drabness that is Broadway. While other business have found it difficult to prosper there Reg Braddicks have continued to expand until they now take up quite a sizeable chunk of the block they occupy. Basically the shop has everything you could want lots of new gleaming bikes in stock lots of bike parts and lots of good advice when you need it. They also do an ordering and repair service. Often if it's something small they will try and fix it on the spot. Sadly I never learnt to change a tyre or do any of the usual maintenance stuff that I should have, but I'm never made to feel small about this. Bikes and bike repair can be an expensive business so they phone you as a matter of course if they have to do more work than was anticipated originally. I find this reassuring.

The service took a whole week to complete ! On the day it was due back to me - I had to call to see what was going on as it was coming up to lunch time and I needed to collect the bike in my lunch hour. It cost £94 which is a lot for a cycle service. The fact that it took so long means I won't be using them again as I can't wait that long for my cycles - I have one which I commute on and one which I race on - I think I will be learning how to fully service my own bikes if you don't need your bike in a hurry then book here - the work carried out to my bike was to a good standard and the bike felt so much better for the first few weeks after having the service done.

But the problem was that I know squat about bicycles, so when a problem like a brake pad not very well aligned appeared I didn't knew what to do. This is where Tredz come along, I have already visited their shop previously and it is like a heaven for a cyclist, they sell top notch quality bikes, I found myself in the past wandering through their shop just looking at the (understandably expensive) bikes and accessories. The only reason why I didn't bought any bikes from them was really the price, I can't afford to get one at that price right now, so I got one in second hand. So when that problem arised I decided to call Tredz for some advice, a bit afraid that they might charge me if I had to book a servicing with them. On the other hand a very nice guy (Richard) picked up the phone and told me to come by that he would show me how to do it and what to tighten. I did that, went along and in fact I got there, he showed me, complimented on my bike, was very nice and didn't ask for anything in return. Now, recapitulating I did not spend any money on the shop, didn't get my bike from there and was using a service that usually is paid for. That IS service! Next time I'll have to buy a bike I will go there! Their passion for bicycles reflects on their staff, one of their members does a daily commute of 80 (!!) miles in his bike, all the way from Swansea to Cardiff. Go there you really won't regret it, just don't scare yourself with the prices. The bikes are worth it!

Basically, its a bike hire system that works best if you pre-register online so you don't have to faff around so much with the machine too much. Then you can pick up a bike from the train station, or the bay, or parts of town and away you go. Granted its not the easiest of systems to operate, and they aren't the most stylish of bikes although they do have a good size basket to put your handbag in and they don't have any chains to get you covered in oil either. All in all then a great idea and a welcome addition to the Cardiff streets!

It really is a beautiful trail and was great to hire the bikes for a reasonable price. It's along the river as the name suggests and you get to go past some beautiful valley scenery, I really recommend. Really do try this in the summer, you'll love it.

As well as selling bikes, Damian Harris also offers a 24 hour repair service (handy for someone like me who's not very mechanically minded)! They also stock a wide range of cycling helmets, locks etc... The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, and if you need to test ride a bike they are more than happy to oblige.

Normally with other cycles I have ordered in the past u get a basic spanner and allen keys, but no such luck here. Also it stated on the box that the bike should not be sent to the customer part assembled as this invalidates the warranty, my bike a Dawes Discovery 201 was sent part assembled so no warranty. I also emailed the company asking why the bike I ordered is still on their website at £41 pounds below the price I paid for,. They stated that they are having problems with their website. So beware anyone hoping to purchase this bike at £209 pounds as advertised on the Damien Harris website you will be disappointed. On the positive side they are very quick at replying to emails and telephone calls, however If you want a bike at the advertised price and with a valid warranty on the Dawes cycle range, look elsewhere.

Where else but at Dr. Bike can you get your bike fixed for free!…read more When I cycled up one sunny summers eve to see what all the buzz was about, there was an enthusiastic cluster of boys clutching sorry bikes for the Dr to fix. These ailments included flat tires, brakes that didn't work and some very poorly ones that had just been pulled out of the brambles of back gardens. The Doctor aka Andrew Burns, with his mate Nick Canham of Cycle Training Wales, set up the enterprise several years ago to help locals maintain their bikes and therefore encourage more safe cycling. Russell Howells (Andrew's glamourous assistant) told me that young kids of four or five to adults and sometimes grandparents bring their bikes to be fixed here. Dr.Bike operates out of two bight graffiti-clad shipping containers in the carpark of the Bute Town pavilion. The service is primarily aimed at residents of Butetown and Grangetown and is open 6-8 Thursday's Summer months only (they don't have the natural light they need to keep it going throughout Winter). Apparently there is another venue that hosts Dr.Bike (which I didn't visit) open between 2-4 at Spencer Gardens, Grangetown.

It is a really large outlet that is incredibly well stocked, with all manner of gear. You can even buy archery equipment here!!! (Not that this is what I come here for... I'm lethal enough without needing to resort to using something like a bow and arrow! My car is the only potentially dangerous piece of machinery that I'll allow myself to use... I give everything else a wide birth!) My needs that Cardiff Sportsgear meets are of a much more mundane variety. I come here for my swim suits, as I tend to call in at RatRigs, the surf shop just down the road, whilst I'm about it.. (RatRigs have a sale on a the moment, and so I called into both last week to scoop up a couple of bargains. Sadly, Cardiff Sportsgear didn't have what I was looking for in my size on this occasion, (a Speedo with long legs, like the type of suit that competitive swimmers wear... something that is proving nigh on impossible to find)... The staff were really helpful, and said that if I knew exactly what I wanted, then they would happily order it for me. Great service!

They offer: racquets, cricket gear, pool table, gym equipment, riding helmets, wetsuits, and so much more! Whenever I come in here with friends we like to play a game of how many sports we can count (at least 25 last count). The staff are all incredibly friendly and know their stock well (surprising considering how big this place is). The only thing they don't have much in the way of is, gym clothes, which is ironically the only thing I need.
