The one missed phone call
Brittany O.

Had a Telehealth phone call, to go over X-Rays, scheduled for 2:30. I was never told that they would call 30 minutes early to prepare or I would have been ready. I called at 2:30 when I was not called. At 3:00 they called again and the lady that called was extremely rude. When I was asked why we are not notified that they would call early so we can prepared. Because like them, people have to work. She just said that would not fit in the text message. And proceeded to be EXTREMELY RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. She asked if I would like to proceed or reschedule I asked when the soonest available since I was not called at my appointment time. AGAIN APPOINTMENT TIME, not 30 minutes before. And she said I did call you twice and you did not answer, would you like to proceed or reschedule. So I repeated, if I reschedule when would be the soonest available. And she says "I do not have time to argue with you are we proceeding or rescheduling" I replied. FOR THE THIRD TIME when would be the soonest available. Never had someone at a front desk be so rude or disrespectful. And the fact that I missed ONE phone call and called back three more times and not a single phone call was answered. Go to any other clinic. The one on Durango and sunset, they were so nice there and so polite on the phone.

They sent me to the wrong X-ray place 4 times. They are rude and disorganized. The Doctor was 85 years old too.

*This review is for Adult Medicine*…read more Drove my mom to SW Medical today, 4/10/2026, for blood work and a doctor appointment. My Mom has to use her double wide manual wheelchair for appointments instead of her electric wheelchair because RTC Paratransit doesn't pick up in my neighborhood (she lives with me). The manual chair is so wide that she has to stand up and use her walker to get through the doors to the exam rooms, I have to fold the chair to get it through the door, and then, once we're through the door, I open the chair so she can sit back down. It really wears her out. By the time we got upstairs to Adult Medicine for her doctor appointment, she was completely pooped. The nurse who called her back, got two other nurses to assist us getting from the waiting room to the back. After the appointment, there were literally like 5 people- nurses and doctors- who came to assist my Mom out of the room. Two nurses then escorted us to the service elevator and out the ambulance entrance so Mom wouldn't have to stand up again to get back into the main lobby. They also pushed her to the car and helped her get in the car. I just want to commend the staff in the Adult Medicine department. You made my Mom's day. She said she felt like she was getting the VIP treatment. These days, that kind of customer service in medical establishments is rare. Thank you and may God bless you all!

Not even deserving of one star. Dr. Maligaya with OB/GYN is horrible. Very rude, very…read moreunprofessional, very passive aggressive. I had a C-section for my first baby on the 24th and was told by my delivering doctor that I would need to be seen by an MD within the same week to have my bandage removed and incision looked at. My primary OB office (Sienna) didn't have any appointments available with any of the MDs so I had to go to this grand montecito location. This location is a 40 minute drive for me mind you. After being taken to the exam room and talking with the nurse, we overheard the nurse and Dr. Maligaya questioning why I was in office and saying that I am being seen way too early. She didn't even want to see me and had the nurse come in to tell me that I shouldn't be seen for another 2 weeks and to turn me away. I informed her that I was told by my delivering doctor that I needed to be seen by an MD the same week and I was just following instruction. I was also attached to a battery powered suction device underneath my bandage that only had a 5 day battery life. The nurse leaves the room and Dr. Maligaya walks in, again, questioning why I was there in the first place. I told her as I told the nurse that I was just following the direction of my delivering doctor and my incision needs to be checked and the suction device needs to be removed. After going back and forth for a bit, she smacked the exam bed and said "well let's go, let's remove it then". My husband had to step in and tell her that we are just going to leave because she clearly was very rude, wasn't listening to me or believing me about the instructions I was following from my delivering doctor, and made me feel like she didn't know what she was doing. I drove the 40 minutes to this location 4 days after my C-section, in pain, with a newborn just to be treated like this. Never going to this location or seeing this doctor again.

This was a frustrating appointment. I had Dr. Alex Castillo. He came across as quite brusque. I…read morehave a long and complicated medical history requiring specialists. I'm new to the area and was hoping he'd be my new primary. Although put off by his clinical manner, I decided to proceed, hoping that what he lacked in warmth he'd make up for in his ability to help me get the best care. My previous Dr. was warm, but she was quite inefficient and rarely followed through on my care. We went through my long list of medical issues (he warmed up a bit), and he did indeed refer to me to a specialist at Cleveland Clinic (excellent choice). However, they turned me down, as no medical records were received. 1. My previous doctor never sent the records (they arrived a full month later -typical of her practice ). 2. They had no info on my visit with Dr. Castillo. This may not be his fault. 3. When I described my issues and diagnosis to the admin., she suggested they could INDEED help me, and to call me after receiving my records from my prior office and a rec. from my doctor. Fine. The reason I never returned to this office is because upon calling the office, 1. The first person I spoke with re: rebooking Dr. Castillo, and also filling my prescriptions was completely unable to take my info. I had to repeat my medications FOUR TIMES. He also giggled and didn't make much sense. He sounded about 15, and tbh, seemed completely high. Like someone let his kid answer the phone for the day. He could have not made it more clear that he did not care and the whole thing was a goof to him. Super. I later called back and was booked into a different Dr. who was available on telehealth (as I can no longer drive and couldn't get a ride) by the very capable Jean Pierre, who was polite, attentive, got my order in perfectly, and was also speaking ESL, his first language being French. Impressive! A review of their answering service would be in order. It really does jam things up when one can't get aftercare. Also, they need to accept e-mails from patients, or encrypt the emails if that's a HIPPA issue.
