This is a very busy place, I'm here because I was rejected by another tire place who told me they can't fix an "old" tire, I have a 1993 Jeep and never had a flat tire. It had a screw in it, the fix is simple. I was driving around Hollywood just trying to find a place. It turns out I was on Sunset blvd (wandering aimlessly) and I saw this place. I took a chance, they looked at the "victim" and said they could fix it but said it would be a 2 hour wait, I offered to leave it and pick it up later. The manager (Junior) asked one of the employees if he had time to fix it and without blinking he said yes and got to it. I was told it would be an hour wait, there was a seating area and here I am. Very disappointing experience. I would give 0 star if I could. My friend referred me to this shop to get tires for my Nissan Titan truck. I ordered 2 tires with an expectation that they would order and install me new tires. Till last week, I noticed my tires are 2 years old, which really pissed me off. He tried to tell me that the tire might be discontinued this year. I don't know what he is on about but I just got the 2 new tires from this year . After having installed 2 tires, I ordered them 2 more tires. They told me to come to the store after 12PM. When I came there at 1PM, they said the tires hadn't arrived. I took my car in around April because it was giving me some issues and they supposedly diagnosed it and told me it was my transmission. Jr was telling me it was going to be around 5K to change my transmission and blah blah blah...and I knew it wasn't true when I asked him "how long do I have before it completely goes out" and he said "about a month"...thank goodness I was broke and didn't have the money because I would've paid it. I took it to another mechanic for a second opinion and it was just a spark plug that had gotten some oil in it. It ended up costing $100 and some change including labor. My car's been running great since then. No issues with the transmission. read more

The only negative from the experience is that they don't seem to let you make an appointment, at least for a relatively minor service like the 15,000 mile service I wanted. If you can wait, though, they do honest work at a very reasonable price. They did an oil & filter change with synthetic oil, fluid top-offs, and tire rotation/inflation for under $100. I've been to Jiffy Lube and similar places, and they charge more just for the LOF with synthetic oil. They didn't try to upcharge me by changing filters, brake pads, etc., which didn't need changing, either. It did take nearly 3 hours, but I would have probably paid double at any of those big-chain places, and triple at the dealership (where I probably would have waited longer). I can't say I've ever been more impressed by a repair place. read more

I've been going here for years now. I went the first time just because they are a block from my apartment. And I am glad I did. Nester is a great person. The only mechanic I have ever gone to that has actually sent me away with NO bill cause he said "There's nothing wrong". I was floored. And one time, my car wouldn't start so he drove me back to my apartment and took a look at it. I know, its only a block away. But still, how many mechanics do that sort of thing? He never tries the upsale either. He will suggest things, but always lets me know they aren't a necessity. As for the other guys, and the few bad reviews I read on them. BEWARE!!!! I've been coming here for 5+years thinking I had myself an honest mechanic...well think again! I took my car here the other day to get a few things checked out. I had an oil leak and a few other maintaince things to do. Bryan asked me to get a steam clean on my engine so he can find the leak. The steam clean cost me $65 bucks but I'm thinking okay I better do it. I get it done and come back the next day. Long story short they tell me I need about 900 in maintaince (replacing belts, rotors, crank shaft seal, ect) so I say okay I will probably come back tomorrow. I came there with everything working. Right after I leave their driveway my car starts overheating ( never had this problem before) I turn around and go right back. They don't know what's wrong but start looking at my car to find out. The next day they tell me my engine needs to be rebuilt and I need to fix my cylinders. It will cost me 1,700 dollars!!! I start crying my eyes out I'm so upset. I need my car to work. I depend on my car for work. Feeling uneasy about it I reach out to my friends on fb. One of my friends tells me a good friend (who I lost contact with) owns a shop..take it to him. So I take it to him and find out my engine is fine. I just need to replace the thermostat, water pump and some hoses. Sunset wheels and tires had me calling my credit union thinking I needed a new car or need to fix something I didn't have money for. Very upset they would do this to a customer who has been coming to them for over 5 years. I'm a young woman who doesn't know anything about cars who struggles to make it. I even had to get a car credit card with them to get things fixed in the past. Probably things I didn't even need. I will never come here again. I suggest you do the same. read more
