I have completed 1 year of full yard maintenance with The Ground Guys. They contracted to cut the…read moregrass, maintain the mulch beds, trim the edges, pick up debris, remove leaves, prune bushes, overseed and aerate in the fall, activate and winterize my irrigation system. I also engaged them to install mulch and prep the beds as an added fee. They subcontract the irrigation services, and that company was very good, identifying where previously the system had damage that was not identified by my previous service company (extra fee for the repairs). They worked with me as well to adjust the watering setup to preserve new plantings. The GG's services were delivered like clockwork. They are very efficient and complete in all they do. When blowing debris for clean up, my wife was especially pleased that they blew leaves off of our back deck! That was a plus! Since I work from home, I was aware of their comings and goings and the work was always done well. When I had questions, the crew was very responsive to me and contacted the main office when there was some confusion about a schedule that was worked out very nicely. I see the cost of this service as very similar to and competitive with regular HOA costs for "full service" condo or townhouse subdivisions, but this is performed on my 1/4 acre lot. I find great value in this service from The Ground Guys and plan to renew my contract.

On August 17, Virginia Green came to my property to remeasure my lawn after we installed a pool and because they had not previously been servicing the entire yard. I was told I would receive updated estimates for both the Premier and Estate lawn plans. I never received them. I emailed on August 28 asking for the estimates and received no resolution. I followed up again on September 7 and still did not receive them. On September 15, I called at 2:49 p.m. and waited on hold for approximately 10 minutes before choosing the option to receive a callback while keeping my place in line. I finally received the callback at 5:06 p.m., but when I tried to answer, the call would not connect. The voicemail simply told me to call back if I still needed assistance. The next morning, I called again and spent another extended period on hold. I also sent a detailed email explaining the entire situation and stating that if Virginia Green could not provide the estimates, I would need to consider canceling my service. I received no response to that email either. At this point, more than a month had passed since my lawn was remeasured. What should have been a very simple request for pricing required multiple emails, multiple phone calls, lengthy hold times, and repeated follow-up -- and I still did not receive the requested estimates or a meaningful response. What is especially disappointing is that I was not calling to complain about a treatment or ask for a refund. I was actually trying to obtain pricing to potentially increase the level of service I purchase from Virginia Green. I understand that companies get busy and that occasional communication problems happen. What I do not understand is how a customer can make repeated attempts over several weeks through both email and telephone and still be unable to get a basic response. My concern now goes beyond the missing estimate. If it is this difficult to reach someone when I am trying to purchase additional services, I have serious concerns about what the experience would be if I had an urgent service or billing problem. I would have preferred to resolve this directly with Virginia Green, but after this many unanswered attempts, I believe other customers should be aware of the communication and customer-service issues I experienced.
