Camp Tuku

Camp Tuku

My 11 and 9 year old attended and LOVED every second. Here are some things they wrote that they…read moreloved: I loved my experience while at camp tuku. I loved the mindfulness sessions me and my cabin mates (sometimes the whole camp) would do together. The activities that I did never got me bored, whether an indoor, outdoor, active, or more chill type of activity. As I got to know my cabin mates well, I felt some of my friendships grew, and others got sparked. I felt the wake up and bedtime times were just perfect. We got a hour or two everyday to take a nap, lay down, or just chat with friends in the cabin. My favorite parts were when we came together as an age group and would compete and do activities, like at the toucanathon. My favorite part was when we did high ropes, which includes a zip line and some other in the air activities like the giants latter. I was one of the lucky ones to make it up that tower thanks to my teammate, she pushed me when I was a little scared and I like to think that I helped her get up there too. Lake Watson was a hit! Well organized I got to go kayaking and had tons of fun. I loved other activities too like rock climbing, swimming, land sports, innovations, gardening, campfire cooking, and others I may of forgotten. The meals were hardy and I never was hungry. They had water bottle refilling stations everywhere, so I never got dehydrated. My counselors were on top of everyone and everything, which helped a lot. Anyone who is looking for a summer camp to go to, camp tuku is a great option. -11 year old I got to go to High ropes, which are some obstacles in the air, and while you're there, you can go ziplining. Some other activities are kayaking at Lake Watson. I didn't know how to kayak before but learned very quickly, and that was my top favorite activity. You also attend yoga and mindfulness in the morning. The food is delicious. The cabins are all organized, and to keep that way you do these challenges which could win you Molly the mop. All the kids that were there were very friendly. I recommend going to Camp Tuku. -9 year old

My daughter recently asked me a question that every sports parent loves to hear:…read more "Dad, where can I go to get better?" So, this summer, I signed her up for private softball lessons at D-BAT with Coach Jayme, and I honestly couldn't be happier with that decision. After just one lesson, my daughter's confidence skyrocketed. She was tracking the ball better, rotating her glove correctly, and finally beginning to understand the fundamentals of catching. In one session with Coach Jayme, she learned more than she had during an entire season of Little League. The biggest change, however, wasn't mechanical. It was her confidence. She enjoyed that first lesson so much that she begged me to sign her up for the week-long softball day camp. As the week went on, I watched her excitement for the game continue to grow. She wasn't just getting better--she was falling in love with softball. As for D-BAT itself, the facility has been excellent. The pro shop is well stocked with softball and baseball equipment, sunglasses, snacks, drinks, and even baseball cards. There are plenty of batting cages available for rentals, lessons, and camps, and everything has felt organized and welcoming every time we've visited. There are also bleachers and sitting areas for parents to watch. We're still new to the softball world, so I don't have years of experience comparing facilities. What I do know is this: My daughter asked where she could get better. We brought her to D-BAT. She left believing she could. As a parent, that's about the highest compliment I can give. We'll definitely be back.

The staff is generally kind and helpful and can answer any questions you may have. I am about the same distance between this dbats and the one in Peoria and prefer this location as they are more consistent. My only gripe is that they seem to always have atleast one or 2 machines down, this last time they had 3. I get it, they get a lot of use and they wear down, still annoying either way. I will continue to come back. I highly recommend a membership if you plan on going atleast once a week, it easily pays for itself.

I have both of my boys (2.5 yo and 6 mo) at Sunrise Preschool, and we all love it here. My kids love coming here and we all love the staff. My 2.5 year old was at an in-home daycare, and we needed more structure for him. I feel as if he's learned a lot since enrolling at Sunrise and he's always excited to see his friends. I always put in a lot of work to tour a million places and ask even more questions, and it paid off with our decision to enroll our boys here. I require a high level of communication and accountability from those that I entrust with my children, and I haven't been disappointed!!
