Mr. Higgins, my science teacher, had a rule that everyone had to raise their hand, even if we didn't know the answer. If he called on us and we didn't know, we were taught to say, "I don't know yet." That has genuinely stuck with me. I've brought that same mindset into my workplace, and it's amazing how much of a difference those three little letters can make. Not knowing something doesn't mean you can't learn it. I really hope Mr. Higgins is still teaching, and if he has moved on, I hope that mindset has continued with the teachers who came after him. Ms. Holloway was an amazing English teacher and someone I'll always remember. She knew how to build real rapport with her students and make you feel comfortable in her classroom. Even after all this time, I still remember the way she connected with us and how much I looked up to her. Ms. Patricia, my ceramics teacher, taught me another lesson I've carried with me. She was very clear about the boundaries in her classroom and held us to them, while still giving us plenty of freedom to be ourselves and be creative. As I've gotten older, I've realized how important that was. There is freedom within boundaries, but you have to respect where the line is. These all seem like such small things when you're sitting in a middle school classroom, but they ended up having a real impact on how I approach life today. Being a first time parent and transitioning your child from being with you 24/7 to daycare is tough, for child and parent alike. What I found incredibly helpful was the time Ms. Penny took to answer all of our questions and make us feel confident in our decision. The transition was very smooth, our little one runs to the door every time we say it's time for school. He often just runs straight into the classroom, already busy playing, a true reflection of his teachers' supportive and caring nature. He is confident and at ease, and what's been most surprising is how much his knowledge and learning continue to expand. From watching him dance with his classmates to fun tunes, to seeing him replicate that at home, or hearing him point to our eyes and ears and say the words, every day feels like he develops a new skill. His vocabulary and social skills are both continuously growing. Although leaving your child to go to work never gets easier, I have full peace of mind knowing he is in the right hands. We are constantly updated with pictures and videos from his day, along with fun events, dress-up days, learning milestones, and classroom activities. They also have an amazing backyard with real grass for the kids to run around in, and even a splash area during the summer. They all know your child and love your child. Miss Wulan and Miss Ann Marie were her home room teachers and wow. These woman.. they don't make them like this anymore! Positive, loving, personal, engaged are only a few ways to describe them. They have been absolutely instrumental to Logan's growth and experience. She has thrived and become a social butterfly. These teachers never look tired and are always up beat. Ms Chrystal at the front desk always welcomes you with warmth and familiarity and never judged how many incident reports my daughter had. I was always met with comfort and understanding whenever I was worried about something my Daughter had done! And the school is owned and managed by Penny who is a GEM of a human being.
