But I also use an App called GasBuddy to check prices in an area even when there is a Costco gas station nearby. In this case, I found that this Circle K station was only 2¢ per gallon more than Costco but Circle K was right off the Interstate whereas the Costco location was about three to four miles each way off of the Interstate. When I factor in the loss of up to a half gallon of gas or more to get to and from the cheapest price, I figure that I can pay up to a nickel per gallon more for a station that is right off the Interstate. This Circle K, like most of them, had spacious gas pumps so it's easy to pull around to get to an open pump. It was generally clean and has a convenience store as well.

It's not a touristy gas station, no keychains or other location based knick knacks, but it is a solid gas station for a bathroom break which can be hard to find.

He also called me "Ma'am," which was safe, appropriate and appreciated as I have completely white hair. There were few people in the store. I paid cash for my gas, then had to come back in for change. By that time, the clerk had a LONG line of customers, and I waited in the back. But the clerk motioned for me to come to the counter, he already had the change ready! I got my change and was out the door; the clerk didn't miss a beat, continuing on with the next customer in line. You've got a winner there, someone who is willing to go the extra mile. Do what you can to hang on to employees like that.
