But I also use an App called GasBuddy to check prices in an area even when there is a Costco gas station nearby. In this case, I found that this Circle K station was only 2¢ per gallon more than Costco but Circle K was right off the Interstate whereas the Costco location was about three to four miles each way off of the Interstate. When I factor in the loss of up to a half gallon of gas or more to get to and from the cheapest price, I figure that I can pay up to a nickel per gallon more for a station that is right off the Interstate. This Circle K, like most of them, had spacious gas pumps so it's easy to pull around to get to an open pump. It was generally clean and has a convenience store as well.

The steak sub is still good, but I did think they went a little overboard with the Kazoopy sauce. The sub shop is located within the convenience store so you have access to pop, beer, wine, liquor, cancer sticks, snack foods, candy, chocolate, and so on. Whether you're heading to the beach in South Haven or heading to the medical provisioning center down the road, Doughtery's is a great place to stop for everything but gasoline -- sorry this convenience store does not sell gasoline.

Too many cities and towns across the nation have suffered loss of their central grocers, with none to replace them *nearby*. (A WalMart on the far outskirts of town does not count.) Bravo and kudos to these folks. The store is spiffy clean. It's well-stocked and organized. Also, special displays don't block aisles (and customers) to shout "Look at me! Buy me!" as now happens in too many grocery stores. Hate all that clutter: Makes it harder for people to get past one another in aisles. Stores that do that are using grocer- (instead of customer-) centered marketing. Most workers efficient and helpful, though there can be a little longer wait at the service desk than at other grocers. That's partly because more customers need the special services offered there (e.g. check cashing). All groceries I bought there have been fine, although I have avoided the fresh meat because other people have said to avoid it. But pre-packaged processed meat there (like hot dogs, bacon) have always been fine. Dairy too.

It was all in the walk-in freezer the staff explained. I asked for pork loin and they were able to pull out pre-cut pork loin from the freezer but not until after one staff member reminded the other to wash his hands! Needless to say, I didn;t eat this meat. Upon paying for the meat, it appeared to me that there were lines waiting for the cash registers but a gentleman waved me up to his register and rang me up. He seemed to make up prices on the spot, but it was cheaper than I was quoted at the meat counter. Leaving, I found the parking lot filled with people and two police cruisers, making me wonder what I missed while I was in the store.
