Wrote a review on Las Palmas park with its drained pond, and Val Y of Honolulu wanted to know where the geese were? So today we walked 12 minutes to Sunnyvale Community Center Park. Don't come here too often as walking almost entirely alongside the very busy Sunnyvale Saratoga expressway, and then Remington Ave, another busy road. While tree lined streets, it's not a relaxing walk, as noisy with high speed traffic. Also the area around the park is largely apartments, meaning high density, and encountering people walking on the 4' wide sidewalks, next to the busy roads, making social distancing risky for the person walking in the street. Once you get to the Sunnyvale Community Center Park, there is a huge water filled pond, complete with waterfalls and water fountain. Open area with few trees, you'll bake in the summer from lack of cover. Flocks of geese left and right, including baby chicks and adults both on the acres of immaculately trimmed lawn, intersected by concrete pedestrian pathways. During normal times, we would attend the Sunnyvale Players plays and concerts, but that's not only closed but unlikely to open for the rest of the year due to social distancing requirements in the pandemic era. There's also the Blenheim apricots for sale cash only usually in June in the parking lots. Finally there is the senior center and gym with badminton, basketball, ping pong and other recreational events, also closed since March 16 due to shelter-in-place. Couldn't enjoy the view too much as had to walk like I was in New York City, looking down at my feet for animal droppings, in this case geese droppings left and right, while at the same time social distancing of the numerous pedestrians. Takes a good 15 minutes to walk completely around the peanut shaped pond, which has a few rocky islands for geese to bask in the sun. Walking back home a quarter mile alongside the expressway, there is a 250 yard stretch on both sides of the road, where the sidewalk is only 4 feet wide, with a tall retaining wall on one side, and the street on the other side. Encountered a family with a baby carriage in one spot, and a solo guy in another spot. Neither left the sidewalk, so had to walk 5 feet into the busy street to maintain the 6 feet social distance. Taking a walk to the park for a Yelp review means not only making sure you don't contract the virus encountering people on the narrow sidewalk, but watch where you step in the park, and also making sure you don't become road kill!

Nice community center and park in a quiet location. The water fountain is extremely nice. Except the community center, there are a theater, a indoor sports, and a senior center next each other. The Sunnyvale Heritage park and museum is in very short walk distance.

As I commute back and forth from SoCal and NorCal , I always look for great little spots to just stop by , get some exercise or go for a walk. The Sunnyvale CC is a great place. Open space, with water in the middle in the form of a pond , lots of tree shade parking and always a pleasure to stop by. The amenities at the center can't speak of since all closed during COVID , but if you want a nice place to get some sun and maybe a walk in , should stop by here for sure. Very safe , an I've met nothing but friendly people here Enjoy

Sunnyvale Community Center is, in one word, gross. Details are below. There are a lot of great places to go in the Bay Area, and this isn't one of them. Don't waste your time coming here. Since there not a lot of things to do due to the pandemic lockdown, I have filled up some of my time exploring and relaxing at local parks. I checked out the Sunnyvale Community Center, thinking that a park with a large man made pool and waterfall would be neat. Unfortunately it is all covered in goose crap, and walking around the pool is like walking through a mine field of filth. Also, the water has been dyed some weird shade of blue, probably because brown water is not attractive. The pool itself seems to have its own gross ecosystem, and it would probably be good for the city to drain the ponds and scoop out that filth. The sad part is this would be a great place if they just ran off the geese and cleaned up the park.

The Sunnyvale Community Center is a recreation complex that has a performing and creative arts center, indoor sports gym and a small park that centers around a small lake. The lake is 0.3 miles in circumference and is a popular running and walking spot. I myself come here quite often to walk my dog or run a few laps. In the middle of the lake there is a water fountain that shoots 20 ft. high. The downside of the park is the many duck poop that lies around the floor. It's all over the edges of the lake and part of the grass areas. They also have a few benches around where you can sit and relax. I never been inside the performing or creative arts center but seen many people dancing and doing ceramics. For the sports gym, basketball and badminton seems to be popular. Wedding receptions are very common here on the weekends. I myself attended one a year ago in one of the facilities. It's just an empty hall that can be decorated on your own. It can accommodate up to 300 guest and the price looks very reasonable. Take a look here for more info: http://www.herecomestheguide.com/northern-california/wedding-venues/orchard-pavilion-at-the-sunnyvale-community-center/. My review is mostly base on the park. I would have give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the duck poop!

Aside from the Sunnyvale community center activities offered, the campus has a large man made lake and peaceful surroundings to relax at, in the middle of busy Silicon Valley. In fact there are not many other parks in the area with water and fountains. I made an aerial video flying over the community center in my rc helicopter for a bird's eye view- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L08SJuxaJ0A

My preschool-aged son and I love to walk around here. We both think it's lovely and you can go for a long walk and see different fountains, waterfalls, and beautiful landscaping. The cute ducks and geese delight my son. It's really stunning! We just went there randomly one day because it was across from a doctor's appointment, and we now go regularly for walks and to sit on the benches. There is a lot of goose poop everywhere but geese have to poop like the rest of us! EVERYBODY POOPS!

The Sunnyvale Community Center is a breath of fresh air! They installed beautiful fountains and a miniature lake-type body of water which makes the area aesthetically pleasing. I came here as a surprise from one of my friends to watch a play that they were holding -"Harvey". I think its pretty awesome that they have them so frequently. I'm not in tune with my own town's community center, or if we even have one. But the fact that there is a mini theatre at this one that holds productions is really great! There is plenty of parking, which makes coming here a breeze! And the play itself, although I was only able to watch half of it due to time constraints, was comedic! I hope to return here and finish a play.

Great place to take a walk, enjoy nature and catch some Pokemon via Pokemon Go during the day. I think they clean the duck and geese poop every morning, so usually I go during the day I don't have to worry about stepping on them. I've come here to play Pokemon Go at night, and it's a complete nightmare because I have to be vigilant of both the ducks and geese and the poop they leave everywhere. There's also soap/oil like residue in the lake sometimes which I'm a bit concerned about. Don't think the park is ever crowded, and it's very pretty during sunset. I heard there are a lot of events here including plays at the theater and sports games at the recreation center, so definitely want to try those out sometime given all the high taxes I pay here! Parking is always plenty

Review #160 - 2017…read more This was our first time coming to the Santa Clara Christmas tree lighting ceremony. We had a really hard time finding park because the parking lot was reserved for staff members only. We eventually found street parking a few blocks away. By the time we got to the park, it was already nearing the tail end of the fireworks, but we still got to enjoy a few minutes of it. The place is actually quite crowded and the booths by the entrance were pretty poorly set up in my personal opinion. They weren't spaced out enough for people to actually make their way through, especially when there are people who want to stand at the booths and browse. It is definitely not wheelchair or stroller friendly. Pushing my daughter's stroller around was tough and I saw a lady with a wheelchair was practically struggling to get from one place to the next. The line to see Santa was too long so we didn't get to take a picture with Santa. The live music was enjoyable and ice skating rink was a nice addition. Lots of first responders were present as well...

When I went outside there was impressive amount of Food Vendors ( the way it should be) so it was interesting ( the Japan Cherry Blossom in May??? I forgot). The thing is we were late ( this time) for July 4th. Celebration. There was some kind of Pancake Breakfast (Optomst Club?) but way too expensive...offer Pancake, Sausage, fruit cup, Coffee,Hot Choco for $ 15 dollars? $ 3 OJ. Since Mom is Diabetic & Dad has cancer, Dad & I decide that $ 15 is too expensive for just Pancake/Sausage. I was still curious if other people showed up, as in Cupertino $ 15 is cheap. So I was curious what other people had to say about the Breakfast July 4th. I also saw huge line for kids event. Of kids throwing DartBoard (not real darts) but it would be nice for someone to show Kids how to Throw it as most kids missed it ( maybe next yr, I will volunteer as it would be nice for someone to show kids how to throw the plastic thing to not miss the Dartboard even tho it was not real Darts) The thing that was disappointing ( only to me) is that on 4th of July it would have been nice to see tons of Food Vendors ( because its a holiday when families go out to have fun & most Families willing to spend money on Vendors). Maybe because only Pancake breakfast..I dont know if that was huge success or not. But it would have been nice to see many Food Vendors out as it can promote small businesses...and Im sure if the Center offer to Vendors that they would pay the Community to be able to put their Food Business out on July 4th. i was wondering what other people think? I just think $ 15 is way too much to charge for just Pancake. Dad & I brought Mom to McDonalds and spent $ 20 for breakfast instead of spending $ 45 dollars for pancake/sausage which we cannot eat because Mom diabetic. And at McDonalds you get free refill on coffee so Dad & I shared. Anyways, the Music for the 4th of July was awesome. There was a really great, awesome band playing. We went near the end of the concert. They were playing really Good Rock & Roll music and other American Classic music. It was really Good the Music, concert & band with really good electrice guitar music. I think to make the July 4th perfect tho, it would be nice to see Food Vendors offering both lunch & breakfast. Thing like BBQ chicken or wings, or even Tacos. Or anything that the Communiy wants. Would be nice to see what type of Vendors come there. Just would be Fun to see....Offering a whole Variety on Food as there are not enough buffet Nor MultiCultural type food places to go. Dad is a huge food fanatic but he gets sick of overpriced Chinese ( his favorite). I keep telling Dad to see Mexican Food Trucks as they are cheaper than Most overpriced restaurants. Even Pho ( one of my favorite foods) is expensive in restaurants these days (I love Vietnamese food as it is one of my favorite, next to Mexican is my favorite but I lived in California back in 1990 when Mexican food used to be cheap...Now the prices have sky Rocket...the only cheap Taco restaurant is Los Dos Compadres near Saratoga-Sunnyvale Rd & Prospect Rd ( DeAnza Blvd & Prospect Rd). Most of their Tacos are only 3.5 or maybe close to 3.75 by now and they give more meat than most Taco Trucks. Only one time their Carne Asada was less taste but majority of time, they have really good Taco and good Carne Asada. Only problem is they close at 3pm. Anyhow, it would be nice to see more Variety of Food ( not just Pancake). I wish other people would give their opinion too ( Because I value our country...Home of the Free !!!!!!!)

Pastor SooSang Park is a Bay Area native with a background from Westminster Philly, so you know he knows his stuff. This church is actually a recent church-plant and cohabiting a space with Trinity Church in Sunnyvale. It's part of the PCA (Presbyterian Church in America) network so you'd def find this church in the directory. And if you are familiar, or even if you're new, to the Bay Area, you'll know that there really isn't a whole lot of PCA churches in the Silicon Valley area. There's Grace Pres, NLMC SJ and then you have Revive Pres. If you're looking for a home church, visiting the area and need to worship on Sunday, or just plain curious about Christianity, you should come check this church out. They started this Seeker's Seminar where anyone can attend and just ask questions or learn more about God, Christianity, or the church. The space is amazing too. It's very much focused on the next generation with more space carved out for kids and the youth than the actual sanctuary. Even though there's a lot of parking spaces, the church gym (which takes up more than half of the property) is utilized by the community so parking can seem full just drive further in and you'll find that there's always enough spots. If you're not quite ready yet to visit a church full on on a Sunday, check out one of their small groups which meet throughout the week at various locations.
