The place has open aquatic recreation from 1pm -5:30pm and you can either hang out on the recreation pool side with slide and lazy river or hang out on the other side where there is lap swim and a diving pool. Both my partner and I wanted to lap swim, so this review is mainly for that. For residents, the charge is $4/person, a pretty sweet deal to hang out at a pool all afternoon vs. go into downtown Phoenix and pay way more to be in a very crowded pool at a hotel event. Locker rooms were fine, lockers available, and we opted to bring all our stuff close to where we could see it. I had some of my diving gear with me, and lifeguards had no problem with us using our snorkel and fins. You'd think on a 115F afternoon that this place would be packed, and thankfully, it was not. We had no issues with lanes, and at one point, my partner and I had separate lanes for about 20 min! Overall, this was a great experience. We got some relief from our heat wave, got in a decent lap swim session (probably need to swim more, arms aren't completely shot today lol) and the price was really good! There's actually two separate parking lots, one that's specifically for the Aquatic Center but it's tricky to get to. From Hayden Rd, take E Chaparral Rd to N Granite Reef Rd to E Jackrabbit Rd. That will get you to the secret parking lot. LOL. Love the surrounding park with it's lake and walking paths and even went for a short run after swimming on one occasion. It's unfortunate that this Aquatic Center is not open year round.

The evening swim is much more enjoyable; sometimes I have even had the pool to myself. If you are looking for a relaxing and focused swim come in the evening.

The spa itself was very nice with a clean and calm atmosphere. The massage table was the most comfortable one (or equivalent to) that I have laid on and did come with the option to be heated. However, the room was comfortable enough without it. They provide you a white robe and flip flops to change into with a locker and (for the particular couples massage we got with the Groupon my sister in law gifted me) we were also given our choice of sparkling water or champagne following the massage. The champagne was a fantastic way to end the experience! Just make sure you hydrate first so the bubbly doesn't give you a headache after.

Also, before arriving, they had tickets listed $100 online and on another site for $50 and also in ResortPass. Luckily, upon arrival and a group of 8 girls, we were not charged. We ended up staying offsite and got sucked into a 4k minimum table by the pool because they said we wouldn't get in otherwise. That wasn't the case, guest or not was walking in without any problem. While we thought we could easily meet our minimum, that isn't the case because the service team takes 30 min to bring out drinks. Also, the food takes an hour to come out. Lastly, as a table, you're being forced to pay a 20% tip outside the minimum for mediocre service at best. Avoid paying for a table, it's not worth the stress or $$. I think the W management needs to look for a new company or leadership to run their pool parties. Hope this helps someone to not fall into the same trap.
