The reasons I picked this particular station because: these were the same heroes that responded to the house-fire I was in back in 1998, this location is w/in a 10 minute walk from my current place of residency, and I wanted my Daughter to get introduced to the local community. A structure/sign and the American flag is a symbolic way to commemorate this station.. these men and women that put their lives at risk to save local citizens. I was proud when I took a picture of my Daughter holding the little care package we had put together in front of the structure. Since 1998, over 10 years later I was ready to meet the people that saved me when I was 16. Overcoming the physical part was not easy but the part that had me struggling day to day or when I am feeling down is my emotional state, my mental state.. trying to understand what really happened and why. I eventually did this.. I forgive and I forgot. That is my attitude and although I suffered.. I learned to move on. I am a single Mother and since my Daughter is on her summer break, I decided to take this opportunity to expose her to the community.. not just this fire station but I want to get her to visit the police station, the senior community, the hospital, the humane society.. all so she can accept that like her Mother.. although I have apparent physical features, I am still worth being treated normally like everybody else. Sadly- I don't get treated fairly most of the time. Anyway. When we rang the door, I noticed a safe surrender sign and picture which means you can surrender your infant at this station w/o any penalties or questions. Please- I cannot stand to read stories on the news about mothers killing their newborns. There is a way, people. If there is a will, there is definitely a way; a saying very old yet holds the most truth. We were greeted by a friendly fireman whom seemed surprised and glad we stopped by for a visit and to give them some dessert. They were having lunch and I felt bad for interrupting. The fireman gave my Daughter 2 stickers and took us on a brief tour and showed us the fire truck. The garage was lifted and there was this massive red vehicle before me that is responsible of putting out fires and first to respond to medical emergencies.. this very vehicle driven and occupied by these firefighters deserved to be awed at. My Daughter and I took a seat in the front seat and took pictures.. Yay! After we got down, we talked a bit about the house-fire I was in and the organization I can volunteer at if I wanted to.. a camp for burn victims and it's run by other firefighters from different cities here.. very cool. These guys truly enjoy what they do. They all stopped eating just to show my Daughter and I around and listened intently when I told them my story.. I was very touched. The firemen said we can come by to visit anytime, no treats needed and that this is our fire station and our fire truck.. they just help take care of it, that's all. Heroes. I would not be here today if it weren't for them.

The CHP officer in charge of this assignment was super cool and friendly. Though he was there for work , he made friendly conversations and made the process transition smooth. When I went outside there was impressive amount of Food Vendors ( the way it should be) so it was interesting ( the Japan Cherry Blossom in May??? I forgot). The thing is we were late ( this time) for July 4th. Celebration. There was some kind of Pancake Breakfast (Optomst Club?) but way too expensive...offer Pancake, Sausage, fruit cup, Coffee,Hot Choco for $ 15 dollars? $ 3 OJ. Since Mom is Diabetic & Dad has cancer, Dad & I decide that $ 15 is too expensive for just Pancake/Sausage. I was still curious if other people showed up, as in Cupertino $ 15 is cheap. So I was curious what other people had to say about the Breakfast July 4th. I also saw huge line for kids event. Of kids throwing DartBoard (not real darts) but it would be nice for someone to show Kids how to Throw it as most kids missed it ( maybe next yr, I will volunteer as it would be nice for someone to show kids how to throw the plastic thing to not miss the Dartboard even tho it was not real Darts) The thing that was disappointing ( only to me) is that on 4th of July it would have been nice to see tons of Food Vendors ( because its a holiday when families go out to have fun & most Families willing to spend money on Vendors). Maybe because only Pancake breakfast..I dont know if that was huge success or not. But it would have been nice to see many Food Vendors out as it can promote small businesses...and Im sure if the Center offer to Vendors that they would pay the Community to be able to put their Food Business out on July 4th. i was wondering what other people think? I just think $ 15 is way too much to charge for just Pancake. Dad & I brought Mom to McDonalds and spent $ 20 for breakfast instead of spending $ 45 dollars for pancake/sausage which we cannot eat because Mom diabetic. And at McDonalds you get free refill on coffee so Dad & I shared. Anyways, the Music for the 4th of July was awesome. There was a really great, awesome band playing. We went near the end of the concert. They were playing really Good Rock & Roll music and other American Classic music. It was really Good the Music, concert & band with really good electrice guitar music. I think to make the July 4th perfect tho, it would be nice to see Food Vendors offering both lunch & breakfast. Thing like BBQ chicken or wings, or even Tacos. Or anything that the Communiy wants. Would be nice to see what type of Vendors come there. Just would be Fun to see....Offering a whole Variety on Food as there are not enough buffet Nor MultiCultural type food places to go. Dad is a huge food fanatic but he gets sick of overpriced Chinese ( his favorite). I keep telling Dad to see Mexican Food Trucks as they are cheaper than Most overpriced restaurants. Even Pho ( one of my favorite foods) is expensive in restaurants these days (I love Vietnamese food as it is one of my favorite, next to Mexican is my favorite but I lived in California back in 1990 when Mexican food used to be cheap...Now the prices have sky Rocket...the only cheap Taco restaurant is Los Dos Compadres near Saratoga-Sunnyvale Rd & Prospect Rd ( DeAnza Blvd & Prospect Rd). Most of their Tacos are only 3.5 or maybe close to 3.75 by now and they give more meat than most Taco Trucks. Only one time their Carne Asada was less taste but majority of time, they have really good Taco and good Carne Asada. Only problem is they close at 3pm. Anyhow, it would be nice to see more Variety of Food ( not just Pancake). I wish other people would give their opinion too ( Because I value our country...Home of the Free !!!!!!!)

So...let me start with the fact that police officers nowadays get a bad rap. They get no respect…read moreand are vilified more often than they are praised. Allow me to illustrate why in part this is my stance; Wednesday July 24th 2026 at 4:30p I had lost my dog at a local strip mall. I was going out of my mind. Luckily a shop owner had seen someone put a dog that matched my description into car and drive off. Not only that but the shop owner had the make, model and last three digits of the cars' license plate number. I call the police and Officer Haydon pulls up to assess the situation and collect information. After doing just that I was instructed to drive to the nearest shelter to see if my dog had been dropped off there. I didn't want to leave but after a few minutes I did as Officer Haydon suggested. As I neared the shelter I received the call; Officer Haydon had through the efforts and resources of the Santa Clara Police Department located and contacted the man whose car matched the description. The gentleman had dropped the dog at a local veterinary clinic. Through tears I drove over to the clinic to be met by Officer Haydon as well as Hannah and Amanda. But where was the dog? Was it really my dog? Before I had a nervous breakdown the door to their car was opened and I was reunited with my dog Xerxes. It was now 6:30p. It was the most excruciating and frightening two hours of my life. I am forever indebted to Officer Haydon for his professionalism. For his dedication and his humanity. Being a Police Officer is so much more than enforcing laws. They are people like you and me who care for the community they serve. They voluntarily go through extensive training to serve and protect the very communities we and they live in. Let's give them their due. Spoiler alert: I haven't always been on the right side of the law but i have always had respect for the job these men and women do day in and day out. As a matter of fact whenever I see a police officer or member of our armed forces I take the time to Thank them for their efforts and service. I have shown my Son to do the same and he now shows his Son to do the same. So again; Thank you Officer Haydon for who you are and for what you do in Service to the badge, our communities and society as a whole. ‍

March 2025, the Fed government moved the citizenship swearing-in ceremony to the USCIS parking lot…read more(effective March 2025), It was done with very short notice, The Federal gov abruptly cancelled the contract with Campbell's Heritage Theater which had been the location for decades. Volunteers would be available to assist new citizens in completing their voter registration forms after the ceremony. The volunteers were unable to assist at the parking lot per the USCIS and this is no longer a special event for those who have waited years to become US citizens. It is a very sad and disappointing to those who expected a memorable ceremony for this most important day, their first day as a US citizen. Attempts to reach the San Jose USCIS office to ask how they made this decision with such short noticed, were unsuccessful, connecting with human is virtually impossible. God help America.
