The service is good. The there are maybe four people I see every time I go in and they are all nice. I like how small it is. The butcher is quite the jokester, as others have previously stated, and the customer service is great! 5 stars for the customer service alone. Looks are very deceiving here! This is a little country store in the middle of nowhere. The store is very dated and probably prevents most from stopping in, but looks are very deceiving. The customer service here can't be beat. I love finding mom and pop stores like this. We typically stop by here on the way to drop of kids at school. Worth checking out if you want great service. read more

I don't write reviews much anymore, so when I do, they mean a lot. I guess you're going to see a lot of one- and/or five-stars from here on out. As you can probably tell by now, I think this place is amazing. A hidden gem! When my brother-in-law first drove us up to Sunmaid swearing this would be the best tri-tip we've ever had, I was skeptical. Who wouldn't be? This is a dinky market in the middle of nowhere surrounded by a dirt lot. When you first walk in, you'd never imagine there's a butcher counter in the back. You also would never imagine that the genius butcher back there is a total prankster! Al is his name, and he's a delight. He's hilarious and playful and loves a good gag, like when he asks us if we'd like the tri-tip for here or to go. HAAAA. You will leave here with a smile on your face after spending a few minutes being messed with by him. He clearly loves life, people and his job. We look forward to him almost as much as the tri-tip, marinated in a recipe he keeps a secret. If you're ever remotely near the area, stop by here and check out the marinated tri-tip or the tri-tip kabobs (which always seem to be sold out) and say hi to Al. You will not regret it! P.S. Our lil country market it the greatest! The building outside is very deceiving but you should take the time to stop by and pick up marinated kabobs/tritip, steaks, pork sausage and, oh, the bacon!!! Also great place for the lots of last minute items you might want/need including milk, sodas, juice, beer and wine! Al and his staff are the best but watch out for Al! He can be quite the jokester! I stopped by after reading reviews to see what it was all about boy can looks be deceiving from outside looks like a whole in the wall but once I walked in and seeing the selection of fresh cut meat I was sold I bought 3 new York steaks they were thick and cherry red amazing. Bacon, bacon, bacon....they sell the best bacon I have had. Thick cut and great flavor. They sell it by the pound as well and great price. The store is an old country store with uneven floors, but the deli in the back is awesome and very clean. The owner os very funny and likes to tease. My kids like to get a treat and tease back. The tamales on saturday frpm the lady in the parking lot are very yummy and big too. The cheese are my favorite. I highly recommend this fun store. read more

It is a small, family owned market, that serves the immediate local population. The items they carry are catered toward them. In the back of the store there is a meat counter. I was told they have the Best Bacon in Fresno Ca area so I had to check it out. On Academy south of Shields , small store , No sign that says meat market so I was not sure if I was at the right place? Meat counter in the back , small area , fresh cut meats and good/fair prices, lean too. We met Al the owner and he spoke highly of his cut to order meats. Got 1/2 lb fresh sliced salami, smoked pork shank very meaty that he kindly cut in half. 2 lbs fresh ground chuck/lean. Big chuck roast and 3 lbs bacon for less than $34 , gone do some cooking and we will be right back soon! I regret not buying some fresh hot tamales from the lady selling them for $1 in the parking lot. read more
