Due to the recent days of freezing weather, I had a huge leak at my Solar panels for the swimming pool. Sunlight Solar sent a team of technicians the same day I called. They performed a temporary repair. After approving the estimate, they scheduled me the next day with the same team to complete all repairs. This team was awesome both times. They took the time to make sure I understood the issues and exactly what needed to be done. After the repairs, they again walked me through everything. I requested a warranty repair on a recent repair that Sunlight had performed. In our conversation, we agreed it was a warranty repair after they reviewed the pictures and notes of the work they had performed. After the repair, they wanted to charge me for the repair using the weather as a reason the repair was required. My issue is, that only the repair performed failed so if it was installed properly it would not have failed like the rest of the panel that was not repaired. They immediately stated if I would not pay they would do a lean on my property. At this point in the conversation, they made no effort to discuss and work through my concerns. My solar panel system has surpassed my expectations, even with an EV! There were some mishaps during installation; gutters and vents were accidentally dented. I would give a zero if I could. There service is really poor and the workmanship is even worse. They removed and re-installed my water solar panel for a tile roof replacement. What they left was a mess, 2 broken tiles and a solar panel that leaks and now needs to be replaced. Beware of this company and check there BBB complaints. read more

I had a horrible experience with this company. To get the business their inspector documented that my roof was in good condition to install the panels. Shortly after they install my insurance company reached out to me saying I needed to replace my roof because it was time to change. I previously explained to the Sunlight Solar my concerns about my roof but I trusted their ethic and went ahead and installed. The sales person had also told me that out of curiosity they did a one time removal for roof repair which ended up not being the case. They charged me $2,500 to remove and $2,500 more to reinstall. Since they wouldn't work with me I agreed to this. However, after removing they told me that I had to pay $2,700 more for new brackets because they will not be able to use the ones they took out. They left the brackets in my backyard. Besides all that, I was paying $100 extra to my utility company so they didn't give me enough panels to cover my electricit, and I have about 17 panels. I will NEVER recommend this compan. read more

They deserve 0 stars. Electric bill only went down maybe $40 in the summer months, not at all what they promised, add the $240 a month for the panels and the bill just got a lot more expensive. They take forever to reply, when they finally send people over to fix their installation issues, will later send you a bill for it. It's been years and it was one problem after another. We called sunlight solar because we needed our pool solar moved to a different side of the house. They (Rafael, Sergio and Fabio) arrived on time and did a great job. They answered all our questions and helped us realize that we had a bad panel and could possibly get it fixed under warranty. They are NOT the ones who installed it. I was referred to Sunlight Solar by FAFCO, the manufacturer of the pool solar heating panels I have. I was a bit nervous, because these FAFCO panels have been problematic, and the company that installed them won't perform warranty service because of issues with the manufacturer, so I was mentally preparing myself for a lot of hassle. I also needed the work done quickly, because I was in the process of selling my house. I was able to get an appointment with Sunlight Solar very quickly. (A day or two later, if I recall correctly.) Secondly, the two service technicians that came out were very professional, friendly, and replaced two panels in about an hour. I was happy with the process. read more

If I could give a ZERO Stars I would. I WASTED half a day-only day off waiting for these people. On a Saturday-that they are conveniently closed-so you can't call them. After waiting 3 hrs in the afternoon-decided to e-mail them. Got this --Lie of a response... 'We did show, no one was home. On our first email I asked for a different phone number as the one you gave us was not yours.' First, No ONE showed up. There were two cars at house, 3 people, and a Dog that Barks at EVERYTHING. There is no way they even came close to pulling into driveway or lawn. It should not matter about phone #, they never showed up. Second...Sometimes People type phone # in wrong, and did not correct it...but if you want my business...don't waste my time and LIE saying you showed up at my home and no one was there....Just Show up DON'T Trust them, WON'T Use them. Issues with battery back up for three years. My husband found the issue they hooked up a 220 line onto the battery back up that shouldn't of been. They do not have licensed electricians. They are not qualified to go into your electrical panel. during the hurricane I never lost power. My lights flickered once the whole back at my house went up because their system fault it out again like it does every time you need it. My husband in the middle of hurricane Ian had to go into my electrical panel and remove all the wiring off of their system and put it back on my system or I should say the main panel. they don't respond in a timely manner they don't come out and fix your crap in a timely manner and then they try to bully you saying that they have pictures of what they did well what they did was they screwed up. I already called service finance. This is all financed for $44,000 They have people in your electrical panel that don't know what they're doing. Their salesman lie to you first of all I was gonna cancel this and he talked me out of canceling it and I regret that decision cause it's been 3 1/2 years of accgravation use any other company but this one!! read more

To begin with the first set of panels they put up were 24 of the 305 W which was not what the engineer drew up in the contract. Thank goodness the Hollywood inspector caught it. They had to either remove the 305s and put up the 310s or have the engineer rewrite a plan for the 305s. They chose to remove the 305 W panels and replace them with the correct 310 W panels. In the meantime, with all the traffic on my roof, the vent system across the top was totally stepped on and demolished. I started having leaks in my house in the bedroom over my flat roof. They took no responsibility but did remove the panels to have my roofer do the repair and then put the panels back on again. They would not pay the roofer for the repair. I eventually had to go through my homeowners insurance, a lawyer and an adjuster. This company in particular, the owner, are unethical and not trustworthy at all. It's all about the money to them not Customer Service. I can't believe they are still in business. read more

Updated 11/21: After writing these posts, I called sunlight solar and got in contact with the GM Monik. Although we had previously been in contact through email, she seemed very understanding of my frustration. She informed me that the salesperson (or marketing person), Chris, misled us on a number of items. Originally, we were told that the solar panels would eliminate our electric bill. We gave Chris our highest monthly usage (summer months) to base his calculations on, however, whether intentional or not, Chris miscalculated. Additionally, we were originally told that this solar system would give us 7 days of electricity in the case of a power outage such as a hurricane. This was the main reason we decided to go solar - to help alleviate any extra stress for our family during a very rare but stressful event. This was completely and utterly false. I feel Chris used this lie to manipulate the sale. Since the post and speaking with Monik, I have learned that my family was among the MANY misled and lied to. She is in the process of rectifying the situation. Although the solution for many affected, is to add more solar panels, so far, my family is the only family without that ability. Monik has come up with different solutions to allivate our issue, and she has gone to great lengths to fix a problem caused by a sunlight solar salesperson (Chris, also known in our family as the lying bleep bleep bleepity-bleep). As I have noted, our issue is not as simple as adding more panels due to roof space. However, Monik is coming up with out-of-the-box solutions. I am really glad she is taking care of the problem - and SO QUICKLY! She has given us back our confidence in the solar industry. Given the many distraught families, she has kept amazing customer service skills and has shown that her family business really cares about their reputation and is willing to fix a problem to keep a good name. Our problem is not completely fixed, but from what I've seen so far, I have confidence that it will be. Will update in 1 month/after electric bill has been fixed. Original review from 10/15/18: Apparently, I'm not the only one with a problem. I have lawyer retained as a benefit of my job, which I will be calling. Additionally, we have just contacted a local news station. Please let me know if you would like the info from any lawyer or news station! Was promised this would almost eliminate my electric bill (exception: customer charge for differing electric company). That was a lie - my electric bill is $150. Now I have a $150 electric bill and a $200 solar bill, totalling $350. I was also told that our solar panels would withstand a category 4 hurricane. Judging by some other posts, that's probably a lie. Hopefully not, but this company has given me 0 confidence. After installation, sunlight solar (specifically Chris and a few others) have dodged all phone calls and emails. We have finally gotten in contact by going through the BBB. They have still dodged responsibility. Instead, they have blamed it on a "sales guy" that was "outsourced" (btw Chris is the "outsourced" salesman), who made a mistake. And since the salesman was "outsourced" they do not have to take responsibility. (Sidenote, please read the previous quotations as air-quotes for full effect). They have also blamed it on our electric company. Continually changing the story, they refuse to take responsibility for the "outsourced member" - I didnt know that was legal?!?! Or is it? Guess we will see! Family company? Family company that apparently outsources everything and refuses responsibility! Recommend? Only if you want to waste a bunch of money, waste a bunch of time, listen to lies, be dodged the moment those things are on your roof - and for what reason? Of course, to pay a bunch more than you are already paying with no benefit! I'm glad it worked for some, but for those it doesn't work (or those who were lied to - whether "outsourced" or not), I would think its proper business etiquette to resolve the problem. My question to sunlight solar - if someone acted this way towards a member of their close-knit "outsourced" family, how would they react? We had you come out two times. The first time the panels had to be replaced under warranty. The second time was because there was a leak. The first group was very pleasant and did the work and we paid them for the installation. The second time the gentleman that came out was fantastic. He found the leak was not a big problem and it was something that needed tightening. He also noticed that flashings were never put under the panels and he suggested that it be done so that the roof shingles would not wear when the panels moved. He also noticed that the mechanism that controls the temperature was broken. I asked him to fix both items. He did the flashings and then he found the temperature control did not need to completely replaced so he replaced the faulty item. He asked about the remote control or app to control the temperature control and I said we never received one. Your company did not do the original installation. The lady in the office tried to see what the name of the control company was so I could look it up but she could not find it in the original invoice I sent her. She was nice enough to give me the number of the company that originally did the work and I will have to call them. The second gentleman that came out was wonderful.. read more

Did not live up to expectations. Purchased in May of 2015. Blown off roof during hurricane in September 2017. Rated for 120mph winds but 90mph winds ripped them to shreds because installation and strapping was likely not done correctly. Paid to have them taken off my roof to avoid causing damage after storm. Company provided estimate to replace the panels that was $600 higher than what I paid originally when all other piping and equipment remained in tact. Would not recommend the quality of the product or the support. read more

Do Not Use Them. Improper installation of this multi thousand dollar equipment that directly impacts my roof and other thousand dollar systems led to unthinkable damages. The owner did not take responsibility at all for the backwards installation. The time and energy it took to get his attention to finally come to the home is laughable. This turned out to be a horrible company, wish I could rate lower. Pool heating solar system installed Jan 2017. Salesman said they would fill building permit requirements during installation. In response to direct question about system's ability to withstand hurricane, told us system had superior strapping, system rated at 140 MPH. System failed during Hurricane Irma - winds never topped 80 MPH in our area. When informed of damage, the company said they only rated systems to 140 MPH when installed near the Florida coast. In Orlando, systems only rated to 105 MPH. However, stated that they are NOT RESPONSIBLE for any damage caused buy "natural causes" of any kind. Investigating damage, some of the large screws we were told would be screwed into the roof joists were torn out, apparently only secured to the plywood. Orange County Building Permit Inspectors office told us that no building permit ever secured, Company denies they told us about ratings, strapping or other implied superiority of their system to withstand wind. In BBB complaint response, they claim they offered to inspect and to fix at my expense, This was most expensive we looked at. Purchased because of these assurances. read more

8-2 had home inspection by Fred, and got a quote for home improvements including new insulation in the attic, a new solar Hot water tank, new solar attic vent, and a new state of the art AC system, was told we would also get $200 for old HW tank. Was told these upgrade would lower my electric bill by at least $150.00. 8-5 or 6, Called to cancel home improvements because I wasn't sure of the saving. Chris made a personal guaranty that we would see the savings and was offered $400 for the HW tank if we would go for improvements . I let him know my concerns with installing an oversized system, and that I was worried about it being to humid in the house. He assured me that there was nothing to worry about. 8-17 what we were told would be a one day job took two. During AC install Shane said the new air handler would not fit in place of the old one, and he had to cut out the original air handler base and intake and had to install an ugly air intake vent in our dining room wall. 8-19 The day after the new AC was installed, the carpet in the babies room adjacent to the air handler was saturated with condensate from the AC system. Another AC tech was sent to correct the issue. He stated that the work by the Shane was questionable. Called in to lodge a complaint about the humidity levels. RH was averaging about 70 to 75 % A few day later Shane came back out to try to adjust the system to help with the humidity levels and complained about the other techs work. Shane's solution for the humidity was to lower the target temp, forcing the AC to run longer. This only helped to get the RH down to an average of 65 to 70%, which is still too high, and made the house too cold to comfortable. Also this increases the cost to run the AC. Offsetting any saving. For the past 6 weeks, I have been calling to get someone to take care of the RH levels. Every time I called, I was told that someone would call be back soon. No one ever did. However I did get calls asking for recommendations and referrals. Each time I would remind them that I still have got a call back to address the high RH levels. 10-17 Called the lender, GreenSky, to lodge a complaint. Later that day I received a call from Chris letting me know that he was going to make it right. When I asked about the $400 for the old HW tank, he stated that he does not remember saying that and he could not find any note about it. Chris said he would check to see when he could get someone out to correct the issue by installing a smaller AC system and would give me a cll back the next morning . 10-18 - 3:31pm Have not received a call back from Chris. 10-19 Still no call back from Chris. So, at 3:48 I called him. He told me that he was still trying to figure out a way to solve this issue. His offer is to remove the new system that was just installed and then install a smaller system that is sized appropriately for the square footage of my house, and I would NOT get the money for the HW Tank. Also, Chris insinuated that I requested a oversized system, and that I stated we where planning to expand the house. Both of these are completely untrue. As a matter of fact, when I spoke with Chris back on 8-6 I voiced my concern about the an oversized system being able to remove the excess humidity. So now at this point I am being told the solution to this issue is to go another day or two with out AC, accept an AC unit that is much smaller than the one I was originally told was the right size and was financed, and I have to forfeit the $400.00 for the HW tank. Sent e-mail outlining all the above. 10-24 no e-mail or call back from Sunlight Solar as of 3:50pm, So I called them. I let Chris know how frustrated I have gotten and how uncomfortable my family is. Chris now says it is out of his hands and he keeps trying to point the blame on me. As if I requested the oversized system. And he denies that we ever had a conversation about cash for the HW tank, and then claimed that I was being unreasonable and hung up on me. read more

I the solar pool panels I have are FAFCO with 12 year warrantee. The original installer had the panel leaning against my bathroom vent with 4 tubes pushed almost 90 degrees. I called and they were going to send someone to plug the leak that developed this would have taken 5 or 6 tubes out of service and voided the warrantee on the panel. They would not be able to get out until a week and a half and if that did not work for my schedule the next appointment was in a month. I called FAFCO and they said to call Sunlight Solar. They sent a crew the next day took my information , pictures and charged $98.00 for the visit a week later they came on the day we had agreed on and installed a new panel, spacers moved the panels away from the vent installed the tie downs and charged $50.00 for labor and covered the spacers and clamps. The only reaon t is not 5 stars was they did not tell me the $50.00 labor charge and failed to confirm the appointment time. They were on courteous and professional. read more

I had them replace parts on my solar water heater and after a month or two I noticed a part not working correctly. Once they received the part which was under warranty from the manufacturer they came and replaced it. I am very happy with them. They called and said they would show up at between 12-4 and they did.
