BEWARE!!! Was called 2 days before arriving and was told the unit that we reserved was not available. Was given the choice of 3 other places picked SurfSong unit 241.When we arrived the one of the outdoor chairs was broken and a glass insert was missing from the coffee table 4 days after leaving, I received an email stating that I was being charged for it. read more

RENTER BEWARE! this company intentionally misleads the customer by saying "100 full refund" if cancel before a certain time on the Vrbo site ( in numerous locations I need to say ) and then sneaks into the fine print of the rental agreement that there is a $85 cancellation fee. "100 % refund " DOES NOT mean balance paid less $85 and they know this. VRBO also is at fault because they allow this company to describe the rental conditions as such and refuse to make the company change the way they describe the cancellation process. Madeira Norte #103 was by far the worst condo I have rented in the many years I've come to Madeira Beach. From the moment we walked in to this dirty outdated condo I knew there was a problem. That problem included the BLOOD STAINS On the couch, ceiling tiles falling in and water running down the walls. I would not recommend this condo to anyone! read more

We greatly enjoyed our stay at 349 Surf Song! The view was definitely what we were paying for when it came to the unit. There were so many things within walking distance, it was wonderful. We especially enjoyed John's Pass being right across the street! While 349's kitchen had almost everything you could think of (minus potholders) and the decorations were very cute...there were general issues with unit 349 at Surf Song. The building does seem to be dated and the narrow hallway to our unit very much reminded me of what you may find in a youth hostel. Despite rainwater being Directed into the parking garage, we were very grateful 349 had a covered parking spot! The two full sized beds in the bedroom were extremely uncomfortable and one was used to the point where it had completely sunk down in the middle. It was incredibly painful to try and get out of the bed and please note I do NOT have back issues! While we could tell they definitely clean and work very hard at it... The top quilt/comforter on the bed closest to the bathroom was stained by what looked like blood. The rug under the dining room table had a very similar blood stain, as well. Even more offensive was the fact there were two full beds stuffed into the one room, with one essentially in the doorway of the bathroom... yet no fan! It would really be best if they exchange the two beds for one large bed and install a bathroom fan! Up to four people with only one smelly bathroom is no one's idea of fun! Also, if up to four people can fit in the room, why is there only one, shared nightstand without any drawers? Despite there being a rule against smoking on the patios listed on the paperwork they gave us, people were allowed to smoke - outside only. It was very disheartening when we simply wanted to sit or dine outside and enjoy the amazing view we most likely overpaid for but we were forced to inhale second hand smoke instead. We were also puzzled by the lack of overhead lighting. The lamps were fairly dim and one didn't even have a bulb. We thought maybe it had to do with the sea turtles. However, no one seemed to be concerned about the rules regarding not leaving holes in the sand, refraining from using lights on the beach at night and picking up your trash (especially plastic materials) in order to help the sea turtle population, so go figure. We really didn't watch TV too much, but both were positioned in a way where it was impossible to see from the left side when looking at each. We loved the chaise and wish the second, which was part of the couch, had been usable for watching TV. Both seemed like ideal places to take a nap, especially with the soft, yellow blanket on the cream chaise. Hopefully, the blanket is washed between visits as it looked like it might have had a stain or at least remnants of one. Please note on days with nice weather the beach can be very crowded. We recommend walking the beach to avoid the crowds to some extent, but be careful! It got to a point where we were picking up trash because we were sick of looking at it. Thankfully, Surf Song had recycling bins for all the plastic we found and there were bins on the beach itself! The staff were very sweet and we love the area enough that we are planning on moving. Though, we are unsure about staying at Surf Song again when we're visiting for vacation. read more

Crimson Condos in Maderia Beach Florida. Location near John's Pass. I've stayed in many locations in Florida. This is my 1st time to actually have a old school keys. 2 in fact. One for the room, and one for access to the elevator, pool, and beach. Now having only 2 actual keys is not very beneficial. You have to have use the key to get on the beach and off of. Having kids, and more than 2 people obviously creates issues. It does not make for user friendly at all. read more

Travel Insurance warning: these condos are non-refundable within 30 days of the travel date. If you have to cancel within the 30 day window, the company will not work with you to reschedule to another date. This is all stated at time of booking, fair enough. However note that if you purchase the travel insurance, they will not necessarily cover the full claim (the cost of the condo that you did not stay in), as there is a limit to the policy. Additionally, if you should have to cancel, you will wait 4-6 weeks to hear whether or not the insurance company will even cover your claim. They require substantial documentation to cover claims cancelled due to an illness (such as COVID-19). I lived in this area for nearly 20 years and as a (now) frequent visitor, I would highly suggest finding a refundable AirBnB instead. Even waiting until a week or two before travel date, there seem to be several available at most times. I would not book with Sunhost again in the St. Pete area. read more

We stayed in 105 Crimson. Never again! Our main complaint was the AC UNIT. It had a lock box over it and could not set the temp lower than 72! The temp never got below 74 the entire week stay! If I'm paying 2K to stay for a week, I would like to regulate my own temperature. AC man came out and checked it saying that it's working as well as it can, but basically the unit is not big enough to cool for the square footage. Owners choose to e stall smaller, cheaper units knowing it will not cool properly! Plus filter was dirty so he completely removed, but did not replace. Refrigerator was not cooling properly either. We had to carry a key to unlock and access the beach with hands full going in and coming out. Very inconvenient and out of date with technology. It was locked downed like Alcatraz!! View is looking at trees from the balcony and could not hear the ocean as it is located way in the back. You will not have a beach view at all. read more

I had scheduled to stay June 12-17. Since the Covid-19 crisis Allegiant has already canceled my flight. I had booked on March 9th and gotten ahold of this company on March 27th when I was first seeing this issue may become a problem. They let me know they would cancel with an $85 fee. I called again around April 15th and they said they were watching the status and as of now to wait until closer to time. It is now a month before my trip and I have no other option but to cancel. I talked to the company and they said to talk to the manager. I emailed them and there was no change. I think this is terrible customer service when I would like to go on this trip and the crazy times are keeping me from it. I would have went ahead and booked with this company in the future but will no longer go with that decision with this terrible customer service. read more

I'm very surprised to see any negative reviews of this rental company. My experience with Sunhost over several years has been extremely positive and their customer service is top-notch. (And hey, Covid has been difficult and confusing for everyone.) Granted, some of the condo buildings in Madeira Beach are nicer than others, so I'd recommend making your needs and priorities clear when you book. But they're great folks! read more

I booked a condo for two weeks through this property management company and have decided to cancel with the current situation in our country of CoronVirus. I thought it would not be a problem but I was all wrong. I was informed I will not be refunded. If I would have booked through VRBO I would have gotten full refund. With the current situation, all travel sites are adjusting their cancellation policies and it's not an issue except for SUN HOST!! Don't book your vacation through them heaven forbid something happens out of our control! read more
