In this day in age, I would think most people would think twice about tossing out a friend's private info to a business that you know nothing about . Perhaps over time that would be appropriate, but not simply to meet and greet. They rejected my application because I did not provide references and left a couple of other questions blank. I have no idea if they are a reliable shelter or not, or if their pets are healthy and a good investment for a family. After reading a few of the reviews below I suspect there are issues with those areas as well, but I have no personal knowledge of that. Please proceed cautiously with them with regard to submitting references.

It's pretty small but they have good prices. I mostly go for the household items since most of the clothing has a tendency to be pretty outdated. They do have a HUGE HUGE furniture section. This organization is probably one of my favorite ones in Kansas City. My children have participated as littles and we've always been well taken care of. The staff here are very caring and open. We had a situation with one of our bigs ghosting my child but they quickly handled the situation. It seems like they are constantly growing and doing new things. They stay in contact with us on a regular basis. They make us feel like we matter and that's a wonderful thing. I often find myself encouraging people to volunteer to this company. I've officially became a member of the program and matched with my "little" and could not be more happy to be involved with such a great organization. Throughout the process it's been extremely comfortable and easy. My reasoning for wanting to become part of the program is because I missed being around kids and this was a great opportunity to change that. Everything in the store is made by someone in the program. That program supports people living with a disability. It's amazing! You can see where they do the sewing for all the toys and bandanas. They are also raising money to open a housing community for those with disabilities because it's often much more difficult for them to obtain and maintain housing. That part of the organization is called Belong KC and I bought myself a tshirt to support that effort! They also have a large selection of bandanas. The design that fits over the collar so it stays on! The treats are handmade and so cute as well! They have handmade toys for dogs and cats! I'm so glad I saw them while grabbing a coffee at 7 Brew and stopped in! What a wonderful organization to have in the community. I'll be going back for more!
