If you want to "full send" or "totally shred it" you should come to sunfish lake park. Super "dope" and "radical dude." For all my bros and homies looking for a thrill and wicked fun, cruise on down here for a "lit" time. Insert other hip phrases regarding extreme sports. Also, I got a flat and everyone who passed me was very friendly and offered assistance. Thankfully, I had just picked up a repair kit.

Nice, large park with a ton of trails and undulated terrain. A much less busy alternative to L.E. Park Reserve (which is just across the highway from Sunfish, though not accessible from that direction). A paradise for a canine, lot's of opportunities for humans too, including many park benches along the trails, often at the most elevated spots. Ton's of ticks if you go off the paths, so beware of that. Great training ground for hill sprinting, jogging, and running.

What a nice little park! I have led a few organized hikes here and it is always a fun 3 miles hike around the perimeter. The park supposedly has 7 miles of hiking trails but you need to go in some circles starting from the inside and working outwards. It is all heavily wooded (except for a small section recently added which is prairie). There is a pond in the center of the park which makes for a nice change of scenery. The trails are pretty hilly (with a handful of semi-challenging hills in the mix). The park is located near a building development and farmland and can be a little hard to locate because the park entrance sign is semi-blocked by trees. There is a sign off Stillwater Blvd North that will tell you to turn onto Stillwater Lane north but watch out because the park entrance is RIGHT THERE like 20 yards down the street (on your left). Due to the pond, the park can get buggy in the summer so be sure to put on adequate bug spray. The trails are maintained by volunteers but with that said, are in pretty good condition. It's all mowed down turf or dirt trail conditions. The few times I hiked there, the trails were dry and easy to hike (there was one wet spot by the pond but easy to get around). Plenty of parking in the park lot and recently they started building an interpretive/visitor center which I assume will have bathrooms (yay!). Right now there is only a portable restroom if you need it. Best thing is that this park is FREE. It is part of the Lake Elmo community parks. Hopefully it will stay free as most other regional/state parks you have to pay a fee. Check out this little gem located just north of the Lake Elmo Park Reserve.

The building is very nice but the trails are very hilly and the bike trails cause you to get lost easily.

There is more than one entrance/parking lot where you can park; I entered from Upper Afton Road in the Pavilion Area and hiked through that area as well as the Eastern Trails area sound of that. Total time spent was two and a half hours just enjoying the trails and scenery and exploring about, and I didn't even check out the Bluff Corridor or Winthrop Recreation areas! The playground is most certainly an A+ feature of the park. The slides are tall enough to even give an adult a thrill going down, haha. There's also a fun zipline and some natural climbing poles as well that are fun. If that's not enough, there's even a waterpark! (Obviously the waterpark is seasonal June to August, so it wasn't open while I was there, but still so neat!) The pavilion is quite large, a bandshell-esque structure with plenty of picnic tables and shade, with trash cans and recycling and bathrooms available (toilets are also seasonal, but there were plenty of port-a-potties scattered about so you could relieve yourself). I was also delighted by the small pollinator/gardening area, which also featured a free little library. The trails are well maintained and primarily paved for multi-use. There were some dirt paths you could choose to take in the Eastern Trails area, which I did. Many of them offer additional elevation change to increase your challenge rating, if desired. c: I appreciated the frequent and easily legible trail marker signs at each intersection; I was never at risk of getting lost! All in all, a large peaceful place to enjoy nature.

I'm going to rhyme this whole review to try and make this…read morefun for you This park is neat and lots of fun rhyming's hard so now I'm done. FIELDS & TRAILS Thanks to a few Eagle Scouts (and other community members) there are hiking trails throughout and two ball fields (Hudson and RF youth groups *reserve these fields most weeknights in the summer months.) My favorite part of the park is the wide open space to throw the ball for the dogs and the walking trails. You won't like these trails if your goal is to powerwalk through the park. These are more for leisurely exploration type walks. They're not paved or consistently maintained (not a criticism). Occasionally a tree or large branch will fall onto the paths and that's where they stay. It's half the fun trying to figure out how to get up, over or around the obstacles. PLAYGROUND It's not a very big playground but the usual things are here....a space net, slides, one of those big structure things with the bar like dealybobs and the track climber thingies. So I'm not exactly a playground equipment expert, but I do know that all you really need for a good time is a swing, and this park has one. Adjacent to the kid stuff is a nice covered pavilion with picnic tables, electricity and an old hand pump for water. Clean restrooms too, so kindly leave the poopin' in the woods to the dogs - and BYOB to clean up after Rover. TRAFFIC & NOISE There is none. * Call Troy Township for more information on reserving the ball fields: 715-425-2665
