This is a third person review - the person I went with is not familiar with Yelp and doesn't spend…read moremuch time on-line, so she asked I commented on this business in her name - and having been present during her session, I feel very confident that I can give an honest review of this business.
I came across this place on Cynthia M.'s awesome Beauty Do's & Don'ts's list (http://www.yelp.com/list/miami-beauty-dos-and-donts-miami), impressed with her review I was looking forward to trying the airbrush tanning at Shirley's. However, being a beach lover I didn't see the need for it just yet. That was until my Polish/German bff came to visit from Washington, DC. Yup - she was pale... and three beach days later - still pale. God forbid she returned home w/o a hint of color on her freckled skin, so we headed to Shirley's which luckily was open late (till 8 p.m.) - so we were able to squeeze in another hour at the beach before heading there.
At first we were surprised to see the place was closed, I had called 1/2 hour before and it was only 6:30 p.m., but it seems she just keeps a chain on the door - don't know why, but no biggie, she answered very quickly.
There to welcome us to the boutique was Dolce, her beautiful 5 mo old Pomeranian - he's so cute, and oh, so friendly. However, keep in mind he's always at the store, so if you're severely allergic to dogs, this isn't the place you want to walk into.
Shirley is the owner and she does the airbrushing herself. She was very very nice and very professional. The airbrushing is done in the back of the store in a small room - similar to the fitting rooms, just a bit bigger - to fit two people and the equipment. There my friend stood open-armed as Shirley sprayed away. After the spraying was done, she sprayed some more hot air to dry the paint a bit, and done! I was so surprised when I saw the difference in color in just a matter of minutes. This was my first observation of an immediate before and after look on an airbrushed person (jaja - that just sounds funny - I'll leave it).
The store sells lingerie, some dresses/cover ups, and right now they have a deal on Brazilian swimsuits - some were really cute. The lingerie is not my style, but she also has a catalogue you can order from for next day delivery with some really cute pieces. All of the lingerie, she said, is from Colombia, so you have the Latin sexiness in the styles.
To conclude my review I have to comment on my friend's next day appearance - she looked awesome!!! No oompa loompa in sight! She mentioned that her feet were a bit orangey before showering, but after the color was normal. Shirley did miss a few areas around the ankles, but nothing that was too noticeable.
Oh - airbrushing prices have gone up, one session is now $45 - don't remember how much the packages were. But I mentioned to Shirley when I called before going that I heard about the place on Cynthia's review and that she noted the price at $35, and she gladly met the same price + tax :-)
