I purchased a new Key West 244CC on September 5, 2026. As of October 23, 2026, I still have not received the paperwork required to register the boat. It has been 48 days since the purchase, and I cannot legally use the boat because the registration documents have not been provided. To make matters worse, I have already made a boat payment on a boat that I cannot legally put on the water.
The issues started at delivery. The boat arrived on a trailer that was originally designed for a Sea Fox bay boat. Rather than providing the correct trailer, an additional board was added to the original bunk to make it fit the Key West. The carpet on the bunk was torn and hanging off, the brake line connected to the actuator was missing, and there were rusty bolts hanging underneath. Due to these safety and quality concerns, I refused delivery.
Joe and Randy then informed me that I would receive a 2026 or newer trailer within 10 days. I even obtained an email confirming this promise. Instead of arriving in 10 days, the replacement trailer arrived 22 days later, and it came with a new set of problems:
-Trailer brakes do not work.
-Left taillight does not work.
-Guide poles were removed, with the U-bolts left hanging down.
-Rust is visible throughout the trailer.
-Wire-retaining clips are severely deteriorated.
-The I-beam shows signs of pitting and corrosion.
The trailer was manufactured in October 2025, but based on its condition, I honestly do not know what year it is.
When I spoke with Randy about the condition of the replacement trailer, he told me to get estimates for repairing the brakes and taillight and that he would cover the cost. I obtained the quotes and sent them as requested, but I have yet to receive any response.
I have purchased several boats throughout my life, and I have never experienced anything remotely close to this. Looking back, I wish I had purchased from the dealer in Alabama, even at an additional cost of $15,000. At least I would have received the level of customer service and follow-through that should be expected when making a purchase of this size.
The only positive part of this experience has been my salesman, Jason. He has genuinely tried to help resolve these issues. Unfortunately, it seems that whenever progress is made, others step in and prevent the problems from being addressed properly.
At this point, I am left with a boat I cannot legally use, a trailer that still requires repairs, and a dealership that has failed to deliver on multiple promises.
My only request is for the dealership to provide the registration paperwork immediately and honor its commitment to repair or reimburse the trailer repairs that were promised. If these issues cannot be resolved promptly, I will have no choice but to consult with an attorney to help protect my interests and pursue a resolution. Until then, I cannot recommend this dealership based on my experience.
