My daughter attended Sunchild from 3-5. She entered kindergarten well ahead of where she needed to be. She loved her time at Sunchild.

Anyone have any feedback on how they are handling children being out due to COVID-19 prevention recommendations?

He is 7 months old currently, but has been attending since he was 3 months old, and the teachers adore him. There are only 4 babies for every 1 teacher and so each baby really gets the amount of love and attention necessary. They engage the children in so many activities ranging from music time to exploration time with toys to arts and crafts (yes, even babies!). They go outside twice a day for at least 30 minutes, if not more, and they are so diligent about feeding him at the right time. If you ever have any concerns, they are very quick and polite to respond, and they constantly update you through the ProCare app. I am also able to view my son through a private live video feed provided by PB&J TV. This daycare is truly a blessing. They do so much to make you and your child feel welcome. My husband and I are considering moving houses and we are really torn up about the fact MFA2 may not be in our driving range anymore. We're considering not moving just so he can stay! Please give this place a chance, you won't regret it!

My partner and I enrolled our daughter in this school for VPK along with wraparound care due to our…read morework schedules. In the beginning, our experience was positive, and our daughter genuinely seemed happy attending. Unfortunately, after several months, there was a significant and concerning shift. She began crying at drop-off, expressing that she did not want to attend, and showing clear emotional distress related to school. As parents, we brought these concerns to the administration in hopes of meaningful resolution. To the school's credit, when we raised concerns about physical boundaries, they did take action to address students hugging her. However, the issue did not fully resolve, as there continued to be incidents where other children attempted physical contact even after she said no. Teaching children respect for consent and personal boundaries is incredibly important to our family. Additional peer interactions became deeply concerning. Our daughter reported classmates making inappropriate comments and questions about our family's appearance, including asking why her parents look the way we do and making comments about body size. She also reported classmates encouraging unsafe behavior, including telling her to hurt herself. Most alarming, our daughter began coming home making statements about wanting to run away or saying she wanted to die, which she attributed to things classmates were saying. Hearing statements like that from a child this young is devastating and should be taken with the utmost seriousness. We understand no school can completely prevent every negative interaction between young children, but repeated serious concerns affecting a child's emotional wellbeing should be met with stronger intervention, supervision, and effective long-term resolution. Another extremely disappointing issue has been how VPK graduation has been handled. Our daughter has come home excited about graduation, unaware that she is being excluded because we were unable to provide the required payment within a one-week timeframe, and that payment was required in cash only. Excluding a child from a milestone event over a short-notice, cash-only fee feels incredibly exclusionary and not child-centered. Additionally, parents were expected to help cover the cost of a venue selected by the school without parent input, and that venue being a church was not something we personally would have chosen. We also were not given the option to purchase our child's first cap and gown as a keepsake, as rentals were the only option. While there were positive aspects early on and administration did communicate with us at times, the overall experience has been overshadowed by repeated concerns involving emotional wellbeing, peer behavior, boundaries, and financial decisions that felt exclusionary. Given both the cost of this program and our family's experience, we cannot honestly rate it higher than 2 stars.
