I went in wanting 1 spray tan for an upcoming event. The girls working had no clue how much 1 session would cost but eventually told me it was $30 and that signing up for a membership with the current deal they had going on would be cheaper and that I could cancel whenever I wanted. The spray tan looked awful. This was not my first spray tan but the first 1 I had at this salon. I went in today to cancel my membership and was told that I could not cancel until after my first billing cycle. I was never told this when I signed up. The sign on the door says cancel anytime! I was never given a copy of the information I signed so there is no way I can look at that to determine if it says anything in the document about this. sun tan city has absolutely the worst customer service that I've ever experience. Not only did they charge my credit card 3 times for the same transaction but they would not resolve the issue with the multiple times I reached out to the to correct their error. I ended up having to file a dispute with my bank and now sun tan city has locked my membership and refused service to me. The store "manager" can only say there is nothing that they can do and yet their client services department will not answer phone calls and will only chat online with you. They will state they will look into your issues but will never get back with you. I asked fir a district manager since the store manager can't help but yet again was told they can't give out that info. I went in and only wanted 30 days to get a base tan for our trip. The only people working there are young girls who aren't helpful and never explained anything. She asked me to sign the digital black box to twice to confirm my permission to tan. Well they never told me nor give me a copy of the signed agreement I supposedly signed. Two weeks after I paid for my 30 days they took $60 for some annual fee bs that I knew nothing about and they refuse to refund me because I signed some digital bs agreement and they never gave me a copy and never told me about this annual fee. The place is a scam and the ones working and scamming people out of money I hope you get your karma. Never go there! read more

I just went into the one over by Target on Stellhorn and I will not be returning after the way I was just treated by an employee. They are usually so nice in there. This person was so rude to me and the person in front of me. If you don't want to work at Sun Tan City than don't work there! I'll start by saying I didn't even make it in the door. I called to get a price on a walk-in. "I had a one hour lunch". The girl wouldn't give me a price then she proceeded to tell me to come in for a tour. After her saying this about 4 times. I lost my damn temper. I then explained exactly what I wanted. And she still told me to still come in for a tour. My goodness. Please figure out how to give a customer a price. It's a bit annoying when you're in a hurry and can't get answers. Moral of story I didn't want a tour. I wanted a price so I could compare and come in and tan. The place is probably a great place. I read the reviews and was impressed. I am sick of playing 20 questions with this location. Every time I come in, I have to give my name no less than three times, then spell it for good measure. After that my first name, and finally to verify my address. THEN I get asked numerous questions about upgrades, upselling lotions, give a fucking fingerprint, and on my second to latest visit, I had to show them proof I had eyewear. Like take the goggles out of my bag proof. Most other salons there is minimal interaction, and that's great with me because I don't want to talk about anything before I go accelerate skin aging and cancer. All of that was annoying enough, but today I was done. Today we played 20 questions and I was told I couldn't tan. See, they have a strict 24 hour policy. In theory it makes sense, but my schedule is fluid so apparently yesterday I tanned at 7:00 pm, and when I came in today at 6 pm, I was turned away. I get why it's in place, but I didn't try to tan at 10 pm Saturday and opening hours Sunday. I have used tanning places all over the city, and this is the only one that ever enforced that policy down to the HOUR. I had other stuff to do at home and just left. The $3 I save with their college membership just isn't worth it, I'll use what's left of what I paid and go somewhere less annoying. read more

Terrible business. The associate in the store assured me I could cancel my contract at any time and would not be penalized. However, when I tried to cancel online, the chat representative told me this was not the case and that I had to wait until the next automatic billing cycle to do so. Which is it? Either way, I'm now out money for a month I didn't use. read more

The salon itself is very nice. BUT my biggest problem with them is administrative. I signed up for a monthly plan that locks you into a year contract. When I started going here they were open late at night and that was my main reason for switching to this salon. I work nights therefore I keep a night schedule. Well now they have drastically changed their hours. They close at 8pm at the latest. They say they don't have the foot traffic to stay open later. Not my fault, so I wanted out of my contract since they drastically changed their hours I find them in breach of contract. They will not let me out of the contract. So they have no problem doing a bait and switch on you. Again their administration is the problem not the staff at the shop. So unless you are very flexible I would not advise signing a contract with this company. If they make changes you will be stuck. read more

I enjoy going to this Sun Tan City. Just today, I went tanning, and I left a necklace in the tanning room. A nice young lady called me-even though I was still in the salon waiting for someone else- to tell me they would put it in the lost and found for me. Luckily, they gave it to me when they realized I was still there. But I liked how they made sure to let me know that they had it. read more

Even though most of the staff are wonderful, helpful and friendly, Katie is an angry monster that shouldn't be bothered. The beds are clean and ready to go. Rarely have to wait. I love Sun Tan City! I recently switched from another tanning salon that I was not happy with and I am very glad I switched. They are super helpful and always willing to answer questions. The beds work very well and the pricing is reasonable. I especially love the student discount. My only complaint is that I wish they wouldn't go on about lotions every visit. read more

I wanted one month of tanning. They told me if I signed up with my checking account that they would give me a discount of $10. The only catch was that they would take out one month, in addition to the month I already paid for, just because they needed to use my checking account. They said I could cancel and get refunded for the rest of the month. Guess what, I'm the stupid one, I had the 2nd month deducted from my checking account, they canceled my account for me and won't refund my money. They will let me tan for the 2nd month though. I didn't want a second month. I wanted my money back. I will never use this salon again or recommend it to anyone based on this policy and poor business practices. The girls that work in the salon are incredible, it's a real shame that they work for such a deceitful corporation. read more

Tanning is getting more and more expensive everywhere, but this place has events like free tan week now and then. I'm not a big fan of the level 1 fast bed because I'm a big girl and the bed "cramps my style", they don't carry those adorable stickers that give you white tan line- tattoos and you pretty much have to be a member, but that rule may have changed..... Yet the girls are super nice, their product is top notch, and they have sales. They even sale opi nail polish, I love love love the instant bed, (highest level) and they have phones on the walls in the room that ring up to the front desk, great for me because I always have call and ask them to reset my bed. I can take my time putting my lotion on, my teeth whitener, and pony tail, eye wear..... Not having to rush makes it really relaxing. Members get discounted upgrades on the weekends, and the auto debit always comes out on time, unlike some places that take forever then you think you already paid and maybe accidentally spend the money? I hate balancing my checkbook, so it's a concern with other places. read more
