EXCEEDED my expectations!! I was visiting from out of town and decided at the last minute to book a spa treatment. The receptionist was so lovely and helped me select the Sun Mountain Escape body treatment, which was heavenly! My massage therapist was good however, their website lists a 60 minute massage which they are not. You as the client are deducted for undress and dress time. Even after getting ready for the massage, all of us had to wait for the therapist for several minutes more. For a massage of $125 this is way too costly. I live in Wisconsin Dells and have had difficulties with this establishment. I keep trying to like this business, but to no avail. I have had a facial--bruised my face--and two massages that had very little pressure, then once again booked a massage with a different person. The receptionist called an hour before the scheduled time, asking if I wanted to come in earlier. I said no, I have other events scheduled for the day. Then, 15 minutes before the time slot, she calls again and says she has to cancel my appointment, oh, and I won't be charged! Of course I won't be charged - you are the one who cancelled!! If I had cancelled, you would have charged me. Shouldn't I get a free massage since you cancelled? What is going on at Sun Mountain Spa? I want to utilize businesses where I live, but this place is forever off my list. read more

I came here for my birthday while on vacation. I booked 2 services: an organics facial and a delight massage (scrub and massage combo). The facial with Heather B was AMAZING! One of the best facials I've ever had. The delight massage was just ok. I asked to upgrade to deep tissue ($20 more) and stated so at the beginning of my massage but instead it was as if I was being massaged by butterflies. But my bill still reflected the upgrade when I checked out. Unfortunately your therapist can make or break your spa experience. That said, I still would give it 4 stars because of the facial as well as the facility. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside is very peaceful and cozy. They have a nice waiting area with massage chairs, tea, water etc. to relax in while waiting for your therapist. In fact while I was in the waiting room between my 2 services, my massage therapist was in there too using one of the massage chairs which seemed unprofessional to me, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I also loved that I could book everything online, even with multiple services. Overall I would still give it 4 stars because of the facility, facial and that most likely if I had a different massage therapist, I would have been happy with that too. In case the owner reads this, I do feel like there were some missed opportunities: 1. I was there on my birthday and while I received an automated email from them saying happy birthday, it would have been nice to have them say it in person since I was literally there. 2. I would have gladly paid for a shampoo and blowout service after my massage/facial. The services left my hair greasy and I hate to do a full shower right after when I'm so nicely moisturized and facial pores are so great. I asked but they don't offer hair services. 3. My appointments were almost 3 hours over lunch time and I was hungry. They are literally attached to a restaurant/bar that has good food. With my past employment opportunities I have heard "We're all family here"and rolled my eyes every time everyone has at least once I'm sure. Here's the difference Heather (Boss Lady) means it. You're sick?! : No doctors note needed: For the safety of you, your family and the client and the clients family please stay home and drink plenty of water. We've got you. Someone you love is sick? : Go see them let us know how they're doing. Mental health not doing well? : Come have a spa day and relax bring your sister and some wine. If she takes care of her employees this well just imagine how your spa day will be at her establishment. Like I said I know some won't take this to heart because of my employment with the company (understandable) but I just want you to know who you're dealing with from our perspective. I was passing through and made an appointment on a whim and boy was I impressed! The staff was helpful and professional, the facility was clean and sanitary, everything was very pleasant, neat, and tastefully appointed. I was traveling and I ended up coming fairly early but they accommodated me beautifully. The locker room has restrooms, showers, self-coded lockers, and a changing area as well as a vanity area with hairdryer and other accessories available. Everything was so relaxing, after I got changed there was a waiting room equipped with drinks like coffee, tea, and hot cocoa. There's massage chairs available and definitely give yourself about 20 min in one of them, they are remarkable! I highly recommend paying this location a visit and taking the time to select the massage you'd like best. make sure you take advantage of the add on for reflexology and realignment--big time worth it. My partner and I did the spa package that included the signature massage, reflexology, and facial. The services were great and the staff were kind. If it were solely based on services, I would recommend. This review is addressing the lack of safety precautions given the COVID pandemic. My partner was asked via phone if we preferred that they wear masks while performing our services, of which he said yes. We arrived to the spa with our masks on to be greeted with friendly faces, but none wearing any PPE. I was caught off guard and did not reiterate my preferences nor was asked by staff my preferences prior to them beginning our services. Given that staff are with clients for prolonged periods and in close proximity, I believe it should be required (not a preference or request made by clients) that staff wear PPE (face shield or a mask). I am hoping that moving forward they will take this constructive feedback. This could be a recipe for disaster for people with COVID who are asymptomatic. read more

First off I want to start my review by complementing the owner with the quality of employees she has to represent her establishment. I ended up doing a quick Google search. Looking for a last minute weekend splurge for our vacation in the Wisconsin dells. Being unfamiliar and a bit intimidated with the spa industry, I decided to call in and ask their opinion and thoughts on what service would best suit me and my partner. Here's the best part and actually human answer the phone a young lady named Lisa, who seemed very knowledgeable about all of the services. She was more than happy to help with recommendations after a short discussion, we came to the conclusion a therapeutic massage would be most beneficial for my situation, with a lovely woman named Rebecca. Arrive to the spa about 20 minutes early unaware of their beautiful, waiting room with luxury massage, chairs, coffee, tea, and water complementary. The atmosphere is very clean and inviting so that was a bonus but the overall prize was Rebecca! Not only did she take the time to explain the procedure and service, but she truly acted like she loved her job. After we were all done, she even apologized for running past the time of our service. She said she found a knot in my shoulder and was determined to work it out for me before our long car ride. Typical don't judge a book by its cover place! The spa is in the basement of a building that also contains a bar/restaurant so that can be a little off putting. The decor inside the spa is also slightly outdated. But it's very clean and the service is phenomenal! I had a 60 minute massage and 30 min foot reflexology treatment by April. It was amazing! One of the best massages I have ever had. I felt very comfortable the entire time, and April really took her time and made sure she addressed my problem areas. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great massage! On every vacation my gf and I go on we try to spoil ourself with a spa massage. We stayed at the Kalahari and I wanted to take advantage of their spa special but they refused to give my gf the special discounted price as the lady at the front desk said they need a special person to give her massage. I actually called around to confirm this and there is a special technique to give prenatal massage by putting her in her side. Let me repeat they refused to give us the special discounted price because they have to give her a massage on her side! Avoid the Kalahari Spa at all cost. So I call around and S.M.S. accepted us with open arms and they accepted the yelp coupon we had for $35 for $50, with no issues for my pregnant gf. We scheduled our appointment for Saturday morning at 10am. They said to get there 15 mins early to fill out paper work. We drive there and at first the spa was really hard to find. You need to drive behind the building and the spa is on the lower level. We arrived and we are greeted by a gentlemen and he is very calm, quite, and awkward. You'll see why if you meet him. We didn't catch his name as he didn't tell us. But we filled out the paper work and we waited as Brenda the massage therapist was running late! The awkward man tells us that they are not morning people, I knew something was weird when he kept trying to push out our appointment when I first scheduled. But when she arrives the awkwardness immediately disappears. Brenda is full of energy and within minutes our couples massage is ready to start. They escorted is into the room and everything is very professional. Once the awkward man and Brenda starts on us nothing matters any more. We both are in ecstasy for the hour long massage. Brenda is a machine and is very good at what she does! The man does a great job with my gf and she is renewed with energy. Exactly what I needed. My afternoon started with a remarkable Sun Mountain Delight massage which consisted of a 90-minute therapeutic massage by Ping, who is incredible and very intuitive. Ping truly knows what she is doing and incorporated attention to lymphatic system (cleansing) and meridians. She also gave me some good advice on additional self care. I am impressed with the quality massage I received and Ping's deep knowledge and attention to the body. After my massage, I floated over to the pedicure area where Heather delivered a nourishing Zone Therapy Pedicure Treatment. In addition to the attention on the feet (love!) I received a nourishing hand treatment while I rested in the massage chair with a warmed flax-filled pillow around my shoulders. The quality of the pedicure was fantastic and attention to foot massage was luxurious. The staff was professional, low key (perfect!) and attentive. I would highly recommend this spa. Other reviewers mentioned the location, which once you enter, you wouldn't know (or care) that it is below a bar/restaurant. The front faces outside and there is natural light, but truly, with my eyes closed in relaxation the entire time, I could have been anywhere. Scheduled massages for my sister and I at the same time and they were able to accommodate one day in advance. I had Aryn and my sister had Aleesha. Quiet, soothing location. Great use of essential oils. It sound like Aleesha did a great job (sis started snoring halfway through - so a good sign) and Aryn worked my shoulders better than anyone I've gone to before. We went to the Dells for a wedding this weekend (which we knew about months in advance), so months ago I called Sun Mountain to get a spa day for my wife and she was very excited for a 3 hour pampering. When I called I talked with a very nice lady whom I believe is the owner of the spa. We talked for awhile and finally got my wife's spa package set up for yesterday. She took in my credit card and even sent a confirmation email to my wife. However, when we arrived yesterday the guy working there had no record of our reservation even though I had all the details and there was a confirmation email sent. To his credit he did call the owner and the owner said she could be there shortly and start the massage, but by this time we were so off put that we just said forget it and left. Not to mention that when I set up the appointment she had told me that my wife's package needed three different people for the different services, so I am not sure how my wife would have possibly received the full package. It is to bad that this happened because I chose the spa based on the reviews customers have left and my wife was very excited to get her day. Firstly, my fiancé and I are always on the hunt for a great massage. Seems like just when we find a place, the masseur ends up no longer working there. Same goes for when we have vacationed in the dells the last 4 years. We've been to close to 20 different places in the last 5 years and have had all different styles of massages and have both been massaged by females as well as males, so pretty much nothing is new to us. If you are vacationing in Wisonsin Dells let me start off by saying there will never be a massage worth what you pay at one of the resorts! You're paying double for not having to leave the hotel, not because the masseurs there are better and more experienced! We stayed at the Kalahari and Sun Mountain spa is only a pleasant 15 minute drive away from the resort. It's my understanding that this spa is recently under new ownership, and Deb, one of the new owners, could not be friendlier and more accommodating with all my questions during scheduling for a couples massage. The room was warm and nicely lit with a wonderful atmosphere. My masseuse was Ray, and I cannot say enough great things about him! We've never had a massage where they seemed to care so much about how they could help relieve your aches and pains and really paid attention to what we said we liked in a massage. Ever had a massage where you wish you could tell them "right there!" or wish they would stay working on a certain muscle or trigger point for a little longer? It's like Ray could read my mind! He truly made a 1 hour massage feel like 2 and I left with a renewed sense of energy that lasted even beyond our vacation. I have a bulging disc in my back caused by a chipped bone in my ankle that's throwing the right side of me body out of place and if I lived any closer I would be coming back every other week. My friend and I planned a trip with our families to Christmas Mountain Resort last May. We decided to treat ourselves with a 60-minute Swedish massage at Sun Mountain Spa, which is just a 1/2 a mile or so from the resort. My friend booked the massage 4-5 months in advance and confirmed with the owner via text three weeks prior to our arrival. When we arrived at our scheduled date and time, the owner realized she had made a mistake and booked a large group for a massage at the same time. At first, we were quite upset because our husbands had agreed to take our kids out to breakfast and spend some time with them while we got our massages and this was the time we had arranged to have our "girl time." After some panicking on the owner's part, she kindly agreed to give us free massages the following morning, if we would be willing to rearrange our schedule. We agreed to this and not only did she give us free massages, she also threw in a 30-minute foot reflexology treatment for both of us as well at no additional cost. She definitely did not have to give us an extra treatment for free, and it was very kind of her to do that. The experience was initially disappointing but in the end, the owner did everything she could to rectify the situation and make it right. She and her husband have lots of dreams for the place (they purchased the business not too long ago) so it will be exciting to see what she does with it. I booked a party of 6 for a girls spa weekend and boy Did I regret it. I should of known the minute we drove up around the back.... When I had called to book the appt I told the lady that answer the phone, that I wanted a room for 6 girls and we would like to be in the same room and be seen at the same time, she told me yes they can do that. When we arrived, it was kinda awkard bc there wasn't much room for us to sit around. We didn't get proper instructions to do anything. She just handed us the paper to fill out and that was it. I had to ask for pens to use. As we was filling out the paper you can hear them talking about what they was going to do and who had who. Etc etc etc. I thought it was very unprofessional of that. She started to send the girls off to separate rooms and asked her, I thought we was going to be in the same room? With a bad attitude, she laugh and said no you guys can't be in the same room bc we don't have a big enough room for that. I told her well when I called you said yes. That's the reason why I booked in the first place.She laughed again and said yeah you will be in the same building not room. I knew from there we should of just left but I decided to stay bc we booked a party of 6 and it would of been hard to find another place. As everyone was going the their separate rooms, I was pair up with one of my friend and Our room was connect to the front desk/ front door, and you can hear everything that was going on. One of our massage therapist was late so we had to wait for her. When we got into our so call room my massage therapist just told us to get undress and get on the table. My friend and I looked at each other and I asked her was this really going to be our room? She said yes. And started to point out where the rest of my friends are at and it's okay to get undress no one is going to walk past. I also had to ask for a heater bc our room was connected to the front door and every time it open you can feel the coldness. So therefore our room was really cold. Finally the other massage therapist arrived and we got started with massage. My lady was really nice she asked me where I wanted her to work on and I told her. The only thing that I didn't like was that I felt rush throughout the massage and I couldn't relax for shit bc you can hear the front desk people talking and using the bathroom, hear the water running, etc etc etc,. Very very very un relaxing. I can hear the two massage therapist talking to each other hear people coming into the room. So unprofessional. We was even done before all the other ladies and we was seen last. How was that possible?. All my friends was really happy with their massage so I didn't want to tell them about mine til we got back to the hotel bc there was other clients there. When we discuss about our massage boy was I mad. They all had the nice room with candle lights on with lights turn off with nice music and so on. I was piss bc I felt like we should of all got the same thing. So I called back right away and told her how I felt and instead of being professional and also finding out the lady that help us was the manger (the same lady that I spoke to on the phone). She basically just yelled at me that if I wasn't happy than why didn't I say something and that she couldn't do anything about it bc she has to pay her massage therapist. That was just super unprofessional especially from the manger. I work in the costumer service field and she should of handle that better. But anyways I also told her I wasn't relax at all through tout the massage and told her everything. She just wasn't understanding me at all so I just hung up. My friend called back tried talking to her and same thing she just blew us off. 10 mins later she called us back trying to accommodate us a free massage and I blew her off and said no I would not be returning to her place. . All my friends has a great time and had great massage done. It was just the manger that was awful. She needs to take more classes on being a manger and being professional.
