He does not use insurance, and has a monthly membership type of practice... but provides excellent care for less than what most insurance would cost anyway... as long as you don't need expensive procedures. And even then... he knowa where to go to get the lowest prices on self-pay cash-pay procedures. I have recommended several people to him, and they really like him too! Highly Recommended!

Additionally, when we had our appointments, the provider was cracking jokes about my younger son's weight being heavier than my older son's weight. This is a very sensitive subject for him, and he felt very embarrassed. It is not OK for a provider to embarrass my son. I will not be returning to this clinic for services. I will be seeking out a new clinic because they cannot meet the needs of my children. I am very disappointed. Additionally, the medical assistant just was asking questions and not validating anything. It felt like they were going through the motions to suffice the criteria of the physical, and not actually inquiring about our children's health concerns. She even said to my 12year old," you're not drinking alcohol or smoking, tobacco right?" " you wear a helmet wear your seatbelt and are safe on your bike right?" This is not how you conduct a patient interview. Their staff are not trained appropriately on how to conduct patient interviews. They even have telepath appointments where you don't have to go to the office, merely FaceTime with the doctor. Dr. Sterk is absolutely AMAZING!! He is so patient and easy to talk to. He's dedicated to his patients and their healing. Dr. Sterk takes the time to listen to his patients and wants them to be healthy. He's worked with me in taking me completely off of my blood pressure meds. I was in for my last appointment and woke up with a bad headache that morning. He took me back to a room that had a chiropractic type chair where he had me lay down and worked on my neck. My husband recently established care with this physician for a follow-up appointment, and…read moreunfortunately the experience left us uncomfortable and disappointed. When the doctor came to get my husband from the waiting room, he called his name and immediately turned and walked away without greeting us. There was no introduction or effort to create rapport. During the visit, he avoided eye contact when we asked questions and did not offer explanations when we raised reasonable concerns. His blood pressure was taken on his forearm, which we found unusual. When we mentioned that his reading had been significantly higher at another appointment earlier that same morning, the response was simply, "Oh," with no clarification or discussion. We also requested a referral for a mental health provider who could offer both counseling and medication management. The doctor stated he prefers to refer patients to a psychologist for therapy and then manage medication himself. When we asked about the possibility of seeing one provider for both services, he responded with comments about psychiatrists "overmedicating" patients, including an example of patients "drooling on themselves." The tone felt dismissive and defensive rather than informative. He emphasized that he has been practicing for 30 years and that this is how he does things. The overall visit lasted about 15 minutes. At checkout, the front desk interaction was similarly curt and unwelcoming. This was my husband's first experience establishing care with a primary care physician as an adult, and unfortunately it did not feel collaborative or patient-centered. We value clear communication and mutual respect in healthcare, and based on this experience, we have decided to seek care elsewhere.
