My biggest issue, NO ONE and I do mean NEVER EVER does the skilled facility actually answer the phone, so there is no way to call and check in on your loved one if they aren't capable of answering/ calling you. Second biggest issue was medications, I was not told to bring the meds from home (I place that error on the hospice) but after he was there they requested the meds, so I drove there after work with the meds. The nurse on only took 2 or 3 stating they received the rest delivered from the pharmacy. I good, right? Wrong. The night shift nurse in day 3 calls me (Bless her) and says, hey did you know we only have some of his meds? I drive over and bring his meds again. When they sent him home, didn't send all the meds home, lol had to drive over to pick up and 2 of the med bottles were lost forever. At this point i want to mention it's a 45 min drive from my home one way, blah. He did have a fall at the facility, while using the restroom alone. No real injuries and they did notify me (The nurse used her personal cell so she did answer when I returned that call)! Facility was clean and the room spacious, but the respite stay was not restful for me.

To say that she did not want to be there is an understatement. The day we checked our mother in we met with many of the team members who would be in charge of our mother. They were all very nice. The facility itself was nice on the inside and outside. There is one team member that I would especially like to thank. His name is Joshua, and he is the Patient Advocate. He met with my siblings and myself along with our mother, the day she was checked in. During the meeting, he was very attentive to my mother which helped make her feel at ease. He listened to every concern we had for our mother. He took notes and followed through with all of the details and concerns that were discussed. Joshua is amazing at his job! He is professional and has a perfect personality to be an advocate. He is patient, understanding, kind, efficient, and very helpful. One day after a really hard physical therapy appointment, no staff members were able to help my mother be put back in her bed. She was miserable while she waited 15 minutes in a wheelchair. I text messaged Joshua and he was there within 5 minutes. I don't believe this is part of his job description. That is how helpful he is. He sweetly helped her back to her bed (they had to use a hoya to lift her in and out of bed). Next, he helped make sure she was clean and comfortable. This meant a lot to us as we watched him truly care for our mother. This is just one example of his kindness. Joshua was truly a life saver when our mother was there. If we could rate Joshua alone, he would receive 5 stars. He truly was wonderful. The problem we had was that the nurses and aides were understaffed. Our mother was fortunate because we were able to take turns to stay with her. The week I stayed with her, hours would pass with no nurse or aide to check on her. Even when the nurse call light was on, it would take at least an hour for someone to come into her room. One morning she was throwing up for over an hour. The aide was made aware of it. She said she would let the nurse know. No one ever came in that day to address the problem. There were other problems as well. It is our belief, that more nurses and staff need to be hired, if they want their patients to receive better care.

Her review was from 4 years ago and upgrades have been made and I can attest to management and the care that is given here big first rate. My opinion is Sherry had exaggerated expectations. A number of improvements must have been made in the last 4 years as I find it comfortable safe and secure to be here. No it is not a five-star resort but for an assisted living facility which I've been to a few this one is nice. It is difficult to watch our parents and loved ones age, and our biggest fear is not being able to prevent an accident from occurring. Almost three weeks ago, our fear became a reality when Mom fell entering the bathroom, suffering a head injury. For our family, it was traumatic and frightening, especially when we watched her being taken away in an ambulance. We all know that as we age, this outcome becomes more likely, but we are never truly ready for it when it happens. When it was time to decide on rehabilitation, we wanted the closest location to our home. Thankfully, our option was Pam Health in Surprise, AZ. From the moment we entered the door, we were welcomed by staff and a beautifully kept building that is comfortable for both patients and their visitors. We were so grateful to everyone working at Pam Health. Our family had the opportunity to interact with all levels of staff from reception, housekeeping, dietary, medical staff, and physical therapists, including members of the leadership team. We were fortunate to witness Mom's physical therapy and see the inpatient and outpatient therapy rooms where she was able to build back her strength, allowing her to walk with confidence again. There are many staff members I wish I could mention by name, but to prevent this review from being longer than necessary, I wish to recognize one person in particular, Stacey. Stacey was Mom's main physical therapist, and she is amazing! She always made enough time for my Mom, providing excellent care and making herself available to answer any questions our family had. Stacey helped select specific equipment Mom needed after she was released from inpatient care, and made what could have been a stressful situation seamless and stress-free. Her kindness, compassion, and professionalism are everything we could have ever hoped for. The wonderful thing is that the professionalism and compassion expressed by Stacey were expressed by everyone employed by Pam Health. Now that Mom is released, we look forward to the upcoming outpatient visits with Pam Health. We know that Will and his staff will provide a high level of care and are grateful for it. So, to anyone reading this review, you need to select a place for your loved one to receive the best rehabilitation care in a safe space, led by compassionate and professional people. Look no further because you have found it at Pam Health. Thanks again, Pam Health! - B. Burleigh
