Lost star for cleanliness, lost star for uncomfortable-ness. Neither bedroom has shades that are darkening. No one slept well because of a safety light on the path next door shining in the rooms. Master bedroom upstairs has doors to a small balcony overlooking the main living area. There are no shades or curtains on these doors so you can't have the lights on in the kitchen area or dining area without them shining in the bedroom. There are three random wall lights but not a single switch turns them on. There were dishes in the dishwasher, food on the spatula, and food stuck on the cutting board. There was hair in the upstairs bathtub. The downstairs bathroom was clean and the shower curtain looked freshly laundered. The extra blankets snelled strongly of someone's perfume in places. Unlike other condos or rentals we've stayed in there were not the general provisions in a full kitchen like you might expect. Such as salt, pepper, You cannot adjust the temperature. That lil B word thermostat just kept saying...... but my family likes it cold. So instead we opened up windows, but awesome sauce theres no screens on the windows. If you happen to stay the weekend of a wedding, you can hear the music from the festivities in the condos. There were fireworks offered by the wedding party, which usually I'd be jazzed about. They were at 9:45. We're in the season where it's dark out by 7:30. Just my personal opinion, they should be an hour after sunset in any season if your in a highly populated area. read more

We booked 2 villas and got confirmation for Jul.01-04. The next day, they called us said there was a mistake. Some of us have to move on 3rd night, my husband said it would be very inconvenient for us as we have kid and elder with us. The manager was so rude, she said if you were not happy, you can cancel any times. I know everyone can make mistake but you should have deal with the situation better. We decided to go since it's our family trip. In general, the view was fantastic but the villa (villa No.5) that we stayed was out of dated and it was so dirty. There were spider webs everywhere and so dusty. They provided unsupervised kayak. When my husband tried to use one of their kayaks, he found out it had hole which leaded to an accident. He informed the resort right away as he's afraid it would be dangerous for anyone. Again, the manager didn't even call to check on him. Definitely, we won't go back there again. read more

My niece was married two weekends ago at the Inn at Erlowest on Lake George in upstate NY. On the grounds of the Inn are a series of lake-front split-level townhouses and smaller villas known as Sun Castle Resort, and that's where the wedding party and family members stayed. The resort is located about a mile north of Lake George Village, which makes it very close to the outlet malls, Six Flags Great Escape, and all of the wonderful hiking and boating options in the Adirondack Mountain region. You check in up the hill, right as you turn into the property off of Rte. 9, and then drive down, past the stone castle (Inn at Erlowest), and down a steep hill towards the lake. From there you have an assigned parking space, literally feet from the shores of the lake. My split-level townhome was spectacular with hardwood floors, granite countertops, two separate bedrooms with private bathrooms, a sleeper sofa in the living room, a fully-stocked kitchen, seating for six around a dining room table, washer & dryer, barbecue grill, and two balconies facing the lake. Some of the other townhomes had fireplaces and even more bedrooms for larger groups. Sun Castle also has private cottage-style villas which are a bit more rustic, but also have the same amazing views of Lake George. These are designed for couples or small families. On the property you'll find a heated outdoor pool, also overlooking the lake and the mountains. They have a kiddies playground, and free use of the resort's kayaks and rowboats. There are also private sandy beaches along the lakefront, as well as boat launches and dock space. My niece decided to hold the wedding on a point of land, right next to the lake, and adjacent to the townhomes, and so we were treated to these amazing views of the water and the mountains while enjoying her service. Fabulous place, and a great little "hidden gem" for those wanting to enjoy a romantic weekend in the Adirondacks. read more

We stayed here for a long weekend and it was such a pleasant stay, room decoration was a little out dated but it was veryy spacious and comfortable. House is pretty lovely and the bar has a really nice view and friendly staff.. You can also sit outside by fireplace and enjoy the amazing view of the lake.. I didn't like the pool but there are a couple of beach beds right on the lake.. Very nice in the early morning to enjoy nice summer weather, take a nap, read a book or just simply swim in the lake .. Place is not far from lake George's main areas. We really enjoyed our stay. read more

We recently returned from a wonderful week spent in a villa here! Our villa was a single bedroom villa at the end of the property, providing us with wonderful seclusion and privacy and a magnificent view of the lake. We were lakefront and enjoyed peaceful early mornings and warm gentle evenings on our deck over looking the lake. The villa offers rustic charm with beamed ceilings and a large open great room/kitchen that opens onto the deck. The bath is updated and clean and the bed was a king size and comfortable. The villas are not as modern or large as the townhouses are but we loved it! There are air conditioner wall units and flat screen televisions in both rooms. The kitchen is stocked with appliances and utensils needed to prep food but you need to bring all the food you need for your days there. Each villa is provided with a grill in case you want to fire it up and cook some bar-be-que there! The grounds are lovely wander across and you can use the kayaks that are provided or bring your own boat and dock it there! There are two beaches and a heated in ground pool with lounge chairs provided so that you can swim and get some sun if you want to! On our last morning there we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Inn. I would return in a minute! It is a magical, hidden gem on the lake! read more

i was not impressed with my stay here. the townhouse was outdated, dingy, and just drab. the master bedroom had lights that didn't work and a tv that didn't work either. the hot tub had dirt in the bottom. it was freezing no matter how much you turned up the heat. overall i just felt gross in this house. never again. read more

Amazing resort with wonderful views (book one of the units in the 20s so that you don't hear the weddings going on at the castle :) Our children just love it here. We have stayed twice and are staying again in the Summer. The staff are very helpful and pleasant and we have never experienced any issues with them. There's a nice pool with a slide that our kids love as well as two small beachfronts that our family as well as the family we travel with enjoy. The price for the townhomes are totally worth it, the units are wonderful and spacious and we love the washer/dryer as well as the very nice décor and accommodations. read more

I had a pretty bad experience trying to make reservations here for my wedding. When I originally booked my wedding in the area, I was told by the reservations manager, Debbie Regan, that she could reserve as many townhomes or villas as needed for my wedding guests--and to simply let her know when we had more information. She provided me with all of the prices and information to secure reservations, all of which I typed up and entered into our wedding website. When I tried to contact her two months later to secure the townhomes and villas (10 months before the wedding), I was told she no longer worked there and I was informed that the entire property was placed on hold due to an event the owner was holding the same weekend. I asked when the hold would be released and if I would still be able to reserve rooms there, and was told they did not know, but that I would come second to the other guests. As a bride-to-be, it was incredibly frustrating to be told they would accommodate me one month and then tell me I'm no longer a priority the next month. I was then encouraged to reserve rooms at the business owner's other property. We had several family members and friends coming from out of state--some in the military coming from other countries-- and the last thing we wanted was to be pushed to the other (and frankly, cheaper) property. Why would I support the business of someone who disregarded my prior request and placed me on the back burner with no notice? As a result, I had to start from scratch and find a completely different property (which has been wonderfully accommodating). Update: I received an apology from The Inn at Erlowest (my wedding venue and a business partner of Sun Castle Resorts). They seemed to genuinely feel bad, took down details of the events, & gave me a free hotel room at The Inn the night before my wedding in an effort to make up for some of the trouble. I have yet to receive any word from Sun Castle, however. 5 stars to Erlowest for trying to help out! I'm sticking with 1 star for Sun Castle because I have yet to hear anything from them. read more
