This place is great for families. Pool, beach, fitness room, soccer field, basketball court, fire pits, etc. The short proximity to the deli is another bonus. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. The owners are consistently maintaining and updating the resort. They care about this place and their guests! We have rented a cabin 4 different summers and have zero interest staying anywhere else in the Lake George area. My only ask is more love for the fitness center, maybe a smith machine and some heavier dumbbells? To be clear, that's not a negative comment, I'm just being needy. Haha. In our experience at this resort I can honestly say that it was a pleasant stay . We stood in a family suite hotel side . My first thought while entering the room was very positive. Throughout the study went noticed a couple of minor flaws . Bathroom doors were hard to open and close ( woke up other family members during the night ) . Fridge/ freezer seemed to be on every saver during the night and early morning ( semi melting ice , ice cream etc in freezer ) . Lights in room are limited & dimmed , not much light within the whole room. Amenities on this property were great . Plenty of sports and well equipped . Staff were helpful , respectful & hard working . Lake & sandy beach area was kept clean & organized. There's a bit of a drop hike to get to the lake BUT they offer complimentary golf cart service to & from. read more

10/10 would recommend. We're actually already planning our next stay at Stone Gate! We had a group of 5 for a bachelorette getaway and the resort accommodated us amazingly. We had booked 2 adjoining rooms which were so clean and well kept. They were decorated like being in the country and made us feel cozy. It was really great space for 5 girls. We visited the private beach and sunbathed, although the water was too cold at the lake to swim. The pool was very clean, heated and kept at a great temperature so we spent a lot of time there. The resort provides a plethora of pool toys/floats to use to enjoy the pool. Around the pool area are several fire pits which we used both nights. This was such a great finishing touch to the resort, gave us a nice Lake George camping feel. The best part of the resort is the owners/management/staff. They make a presence on the property, introduced themselves, made sure we were comfortable and are just great at their job. They were willing to help guests with whatever is needed. Of all of the world class resorts we have been blessed to visit, we have NEVER been to the same resort twice until now. That speaks volumes in my book. Not only did we visit two times in 2020, but we have already booked an upcoming trip for 2021. On our first tip, we took a room in the hotel and we really found the service and the atmosphere to be truly enjoyable. But we were looking to return and spend a week in a cabin. We invited some friends to come and share in our fun, and we had a blast! Two bedrooms and a full kitchen- we were able to cook and entertain our friends around the grill and the bonfires we had each night. Clean and spacious, the cabins have all you could want and then some. All have been recently remodeled and make you feel you belong in the Adirondacks. Pressure in the shower was awesome after a day at the private beach and playground for the kids. All of the utensils you need to cook are on site, so just bring your favorite grill food. On site there is a restaurant and a general store with all of the paraphernalia you might hope to find in a tourist gift store plus all of the beer and firewood you need without ever having to leave the property. Food at the restaurant was very good to take out on a boating trip. Breakfast sandwiches were both reasonable in price and delicious too. On site you'll find a pool and a laundry plus the aforementioned restaurant and gift store, not to mention the beach. Golf cart shuttles will ferry you back and forth from the beach as it is quite the hike back up the hill at the end of the day. A super shout out to the staff that go out of their way to make sure to you feel welcome. You'll most probably run into the owner/manager of the resort on your stay. These people are first class all the way. As I've already said, we booked our third stay with them a year in advance- this coming from people who rarely go to the same country, let alone resort, more than once. As they say, "you come as friends, and return as family". I'm really looking forward to our next trip. read more

Just spent a long weekend at the Stone Gate Resort in LG. Excellent accommodations. Owner Paul very nice and joined us in the game room. A definite "family" oriented place to enjoy. We were in cabin #3 , so clean n attractive n updated with the latest to feel like at home. The resort landscaping very attractive with hundreds of different variety of trees lining the property. The beach area n road leading to this area was well manicured. Peaceful evenings by the personal "fire pit" in front of cabin. The staff very court and professional. The convenience of the "golf cart" to take you to the lake , excellent idea! The game room was so well equipped and clean n a place to hang out with the family. My boyfriend had planned a surprise engagement for our Lake George trip. He spoke to Paul who allowed him to do it on private property where there is a live feed for anyone to watch. This allowed our family and friends to watch and be part of our big day. Paul and the staff from the deli next door also assisted his sister in putting together baskets of goodies to be delivered to our room very last minute. They went out of their way to pick everything up, put them together and get them to the room before we got back. They are all the most wonderful staff and helped to make our special weekend even better. We can't wait to go back for our one year anniversary! read more

This resort does everything perfectly. The property including the rooms are immaculate. Everyone working there is very nice including the owners Paul and Adrienne who both drove us back and forth to the lake. We had an issue with our first room we were moved and in a different room within an hour. The pool is beautiful as is the private beach. It's quiet. No bugs, open fire pits. Beautiful play ground, great arcade. We have stayed all over the lake and after our first stay at the stone gate we quickly realized we'd never stay anywhere else. While the accommodations are nearly perfect, very well appointed, fully stocked kitchen equipment and private grill & Camp Fire Pit! The overwhelming gem of this resort is the staff! Fantastic service, attitude, willingness & friendliness. The gorgeous beach, sand & water is located down a very steep hill, however, they have several golf carts that are at your beckon call to shuttle you up & down by the politest & very pleasant drivers. They will gladly pick you up out front of your cabin, drop you off beachside & they wait to take you back when you are ready. Cabins are new, very nicely furnished & ADK Themed to the hilt! A/C works very well. A store on property has a nice selection of supplies. Nice choices in small recreation, Ping Pong, Tetherball, Small soccer field, Bocce Ball Courts & Horseshoes! My only criticism would be cabin had 1 small TV, none in bedrooms, but that is it! Everything else was amazingly perfect! We will be back & bringing more people in 2021. read more

Stone Gate Resort is a beautiful relaxing destination right on Lake George. They have their own private beach, a dock and plenty of Adirondack chairs to sit and relax! The beach is fabulous and perfect for the kids. There is a huge store & gift shop on the property with a restaurant also. The town is nearby where you can enjoy the many shops and attractions. The cabins were spacious, immaculate and beautifully decorated with everything you need. Grills and fire pits were available for cooking or just hanging around the fire while star searching and roasting marshmallows. The pits are situated amongst the pine trees and of course, with the most comfortable Adirondack chairs!! There is a newly renovated hotel and pool on the property also where my daughter's family stayed which was just as immaculate and fabulous! The owners and staff could not have been more nice and accommodating. They made our weekend so special! This resort is the perfect destination for a family vacation or a romantic getaway. I give this resort 5 stars for a few reasons: first, they have a beach camera which allowed my family to view my wonderful older brothers surprise proposal to his amazing girlfriend, streamed LIVE from 1500 miles away and second, Paul, the owner of this resort was instrumental in my being able to have something special waiting in their room following the proposal. I asked Paul for a florist recommendation or somewhere I could send a basket VERY last minute (literally two hours before this was happening!) and he recommended Rays Helova Deli next door. Within my short two hour time crunch they created two great baskets for me- a s'mores basket with all the ingredients and a separate basket with my brother and his fiancé's favorite treats, along with freshly made chocolate covered strawberries by Justin and non alcoholic wine with Lake George souvenir glasses. Paul actually took the time and effort to walk next door himself, pick up the baskets and place them into my brothers room for when they returned. We were so very thankful for his kindness in helping us add to their super special day even though we were 1500 miles away! Great long weekend away at this home away from home! We stayed in cabin number 4 and it was perfect. The beach is beautiful, the kids had fun jumping off the dock. The pool was not yet open but it is large! The owners checked in from time to time to see if we needed anything, a real nice touch. There is a restaurant/deli/general store at the front of the property (take out only for us) that has souvenirs and anything you may have forgotten! The only reason why I did not give it five stars was because of the pool. It is not heated and the chairs and tables around the pool are limited and old. For the past 6 years, we have been going to Lake George every August and trying a different resort every time. This year, we tried Stone Gate Resort and it was probably our favorite yet! The place is almost perfect, but I'd like to offer some constructive criticism. In our cottage, the microwave was on top of the refrigerator and it was too high for my wife to reach and impossible for our kids. Even for me (5' 11") it was pretty hairy trying to get a bowl of hot soup out without making a mess. Also, while the dishes are a nice sturdy practical plastic, they are plainly marked that they are not microwave safe, and they got VERY hot if used (we had to use them because that's all there is!). This makes no sense at all. Also, the cottage needs some chairs. It has one just chair and one sofa, but that's not enough for a family of 5. We had to bring in the kitchen stools just to watch TV as a family and they are very uncomfortable for any length of time. Also, the cottage desperately needs lamps on the end tables. The overhead light is no good for reading, and my wife and oldest son are avid sudoku fans, and they couldn't see right to do that. The sconces are cute but they're no good for reading. That said, the light under the kitchen cupboard is brilliant, and the faucet is nicer than ours at home! The firepit outside is wonderful and we used it often. We liked the bench on the little porch and parking is close and abundant. The grounds are gorgeous and my kids loved the playground area. The beach is the best we've seen yet, although some chaise loungers would be nice. Most other places we've stayed have many chaises on their beaches, even though the beaches themselves are smaller and not nearly as nice. Also, and this is a big deal, everywhere else we ever stayed provided free rowboats, paddleboards and kayaks, but at Stone Gate Resort you have to pay extra to rent them. The place is not cheap at all, so to have to pay extra for those things left a very bad taste in our mouth. We spoke to a few other people who were staying there and they all agreed. The man who ran the concession was very friendly and helpful, especially with selecting the perfect life vest for all of us. The store on the property was very nice and everyone we came in contact with was very friendly and helpful. The pool is very attractive and clean. The golf carts to and from the beach were a nice touch and the drivers were always right there when you needed them. Most of the other families staying there seemed very nice and we liked meeting them and comparing notes on local activities and restaurants and such. All in all, the Stone Gate Resort was our best vacation yet, and with a few improvements it would be perfect. Someone told us that the owners are new, so maybe they're still learning and will get better as they grow into it. Overall, I definitely recommend it for families. It's a very nice place! read more

This place was so amazing they had very nice teens riding you up and down to and from the lake in golf carts because the walk is steep they have a nice playground and a little shop right across from the main office the people there are extremely nice and when you need something they are always willing to give it to you the hotel rooms and Cabins are very clean and very nice to stay in there was a problem with the pool the filter wasn't working so we told the owner and it was fixed in les then a day I would love to come here again!! read more

We recently stayed at this resort with several family and friends for a long weekend. What a beautiful place. The cabins and hotel rooms were all just recently updated. The decor was beautiful. We enjoyed sitting on Adirondack chairs outside our cabin watching the boats on the lake drinking our morning coffee. There are charcoal grills and picnic tables for meals and in the evening we sat around the fire pit enjoying each other's company. The private beach was perfect for everyone to gather and watch the kids in the water. The owners offer a ride to and from the beach since there's a hill down to the beach. There is so much for the kids to do ... tennis court, ping pong, large playground, basketball court and newly redone swimming pool. There's a store/restaurant in the main parking area that serves delicious food, so if you don't want to travel far, you can walk there and get food and any supplies you may have forgotten. The owners Mike, Sharon, Paul and Adrienne were over the top accommodating. We can't say anything negative about the resort. If we asked for something, it was done within minutes. We strongly recommend you visit this resort on your next trip to Lake George. It's a new hidden gem. You will not be disappointed. read more
