We were dreading having it removed after hearing neighborhood horror stories about flaky arborists and multi thousand dollar quotes. The recently demised tree was wedged between our house, our neighbors house and a power line; so I was terrified of it falling and incurring major damage. After almost a full year of procrastination I finally decided to deal with the dang thing. I checked out reviews for all the tree service contractors in the Portland Area I emailed and left messages with six different shops. Blue Sky was the first to respond and not only was Jason highly professional but his quote was more than reasonable. He gave me the option to file for the tree cutting permit myself to save money (which I appreciate I'm always trying to save a buck!) The permit office commented that the photos he provided expedited the process and made a point of telling me they appreciated his competence. After I obtained the permit he was able cut down the tree two days later!! Jason was amazing, he showed up when he said he would and worked his arse off for four hours not stopping once until my dead tree was completely leveled. Before he left he even considerately cleared my sidewalk and street of all debris. From start to finish I had a great experience with Blue Sky and spent WAY less than I expected to. AND I no longer have to worry about that tree crushing my house!!!

We selected Gil because he showed he's passionate about the jobs he takes on and really cares about making customers happy. From the first call, Gil was friendly, prompt and communicated well. He came out for an initial bid, just a few days after our first call. A few weeks later, Gil and two techs arrived on site at our home. They brought all manner of tools to complete the job: ladders and ropes as needed and this super nifty bucket crawler tool to navigate our yard and reach our oak, maple and arborvitae without damaging our lawn or landscaping. In addition to the tree trimming, High Top took care of stump grinding for two old stumps that have been in our yard since before we moved in. This company trimmed a neighbor's tree that hangs over my property. A huge amount of leaves fall on…read moremy roof, in my gutters, and in my yard each year. When asked about trimming the over hanging branches to reduce this, the employee suggested that I didn't understand how leaves work!!! Incredibly condescending. I suspect that if I was a guy he would not have made this statement. They proceeded to trim a very small number of branches, most of which did not actually hang over my property and suggested the others could not be reached--odd excuse for an arborist with climbing gear on! He also blamed trimmings done by a company that I hired several years ago was the cause of the growth of other branches. Incredible!
