    Sushi platter for 2.

Sumo is a real gem. Junior and I are regulars when I'm in the shire. We went here on Xmas eve and had the sushi for 2 which is juniors favourite. The selection on the platters is varied and great if you can't decide what to order from the large selection. The food is always well presented and looks fantastic. The staff are friendly, attentive and service is good without being too much. It's not just sushi on the menu. There's a fantastic selection of noodle dishes, fish and curry. I'd recommend the chicken katsu curry or the Sumo yakiudon if you're not a fan of sushi.

I cannot believe this place is 5 mins down the road for me and it's taken 6 months of living here to get in and try it! I'm super pleased I did! It's a cafe style place, with bench seats and quite relaxed. We were all starving by the time we got there...so hungry in fact that I forgot to take a photo before inhaling the sushi! But it was yum I can assure you :) We got 6 avocado maki 2 pieces of salmon nigiri and 6 yasai gyoza. Amazing. The Maki was a little sweeter than usual, and there were only two salmon pieces, but the gyoza were probably some of the best I've ever had, talk about melt in your mouth! Mmm! I ordered Kyatsu Curry, as per usual, and it was magnificent. Again the curry was a little sweeter than I have come to expect, but different is good. The chicken was great, and the carrots and potatoes were inside the dish of curry. The only thing I would have changed was perhaps the veg could have been a little softer. We will definitely be returning! Every dish that came out of the kitchen looked mouthwateringly divine! The staff were lovely and helpful, there was a TV showing a documentary of a new parent panda and the decor was nice. It was a little on the loud side, but it was packed!

Imagine my surprise when I spotted a Japanese restaurant in Falkirk. I grew up in Auckland, New Zealand, a city with a significant Japanese population and even more significant Japanese tourist trade, so I've eaten a lot of sushi, generally prepared by Japanese chefs with freshly caught fish. I'm no expert, but I know decent sushi when I taste it (and I've tasted a lot of not so decent stuff down the years). Sumo certainly matched the standards of similar places I've been to elsewhere in the UK (Yo!, for example) and in NZ. The fish was all fresh, the rice was still moist and the slightly crispy seaweed confirmed it was freshly prepared. There were a wide range of toppings and it was beautifully presented. The cooked dishes were also well prepared with fresh ingredients and very tasty. Its good value too - about 30 quid for two mains, a shared platter of sushi and gyoza.

Service was very friendly. Food was pretty good, huge portion of miso soup! Nice that they had outdoor seating.

The offers are on a restricted menu but there's still plenty to choose from and it's actually easier looking at a smaller menu because I could take forever picking what I want from the main menu.

You can pass by this place in Edinburgh and literally never know it exists…read more If anything gets full marks, it's the decor. First off, you walk down these stairs from the street to get to it. When you enter the restaurant, the decor definitely is the first thing you notice. Very traditional Japanese decor all around. I've been to many Japanese restaurants in the states and majority are not nearly decked out as this place. Food and service is solid too. The only reason I couldn't rate it any higher is because the food tastes like "a normal" spot I've had before. The Katsu was cooked perfectly but the curry just seemed only a little above average. The Tonkotsu Ramen also didn't have as much flavor as I was hoping. I'm not trying to say any of the food is bad. Not even saying it's mid. It's just the flavors really didn't do anything to blow the socks off my taste buds and that's my fault. I'm spoiled because I live in the Bay Area of California where I have an abundance of Japanese restaurants to choose from. I also went to Japan for the first time this year so again, I've been fortunate enough to be able try a lot of different places. Don't get it twisted though. I highly recommend Kenji Sushi. If I lived in Edinburgh I'd probably be coming here a lot. Especially if I had never had Japanese food before. I think it's amazing that the city has diverse food options like this that are actually good. It helps that it looks fancy inside too. Kenji would be a great place to take someone on a date.

We stumbled upon this location after looking for a place near our AirBnB for some Sushi. We tried to reserve a table online via their website but it didn't work. So we decided to instead walk a mile to their restaurant to see if we could get a table - or even sit outside if we had to - knowing there would probably be a bit of a wait. When we got there I entered the restaurant with my son who is 3 in a stroller and immediately was greeted by a Redheaded woman who smiled at me like I had 3 heads. I then asked kindly for their availability and explained my situation and the woman scoffed at me - as if I was stupid to even ask the question - to which she then turned her iPad around and showed a list of Reservations. I actually managed to point to my reservation that via the website had not seemed to schedule correctly - to which she aggressively said "well there's nothing we can do'. Right as I turned to leave the restaurant the rest of my party trickles in and asks if we can eat outside - One of the kind waitresses said "sure" to which she set us up outside. We ordered 3 bottles of Sake and they were £24 for 300ml bottles. We had hoped that they might be worth the price but unfortunately they weren't much better than what you can get from a CoOp with a liquor license. The Shrimp Ramen was fantastic and the sushi tasted great but was really overpriced for the quantity which they give you. Overall I totally get the lack of vacancy for a popular spot - but being scoffed at as you gently inquire about availability was really off putting. Even eating there despite it was difficult - and the alcohol/sushi being overpriced. Would not recommend. The sushi quality and the waitresses efforts are the only reason it's not 1/5.

We seriously need to get our sh*t together in the USA. This was great to have before my flight to Ireland. While Yo! I love the concept of being able to pick out what you want from the coloring book-esqe menu with pictures and wait for the plate to come around. Also they offer made to order handrolls and other dishes from the kitchen. Service here was excellent! I thought it was very good and loved the concept of the freshly made items passing me by on a conveyor and all I had to do was pull it off and eat it. The staff are really nice there and they keep the tables clean and tidy. The best thing about Yo Sushi in the airport is that when you need to eat and look around at what is available there is nothing but overpriced, not so fresh and cafeteria style food options. Yo Sushi brings freshness and comfort to the equation and their prices are very reasonable. I wish Yo Sushi was in every American Airport too. Good food, good price, and a relaxing meal are just what the weary traveler needs, and Yo Sushi provides that. By the way, we saw them in town too, but didn't get the chance to stop in. They aren't just an Airport restaurant. They are all over London. If you like sushi, this is as good as I have found in Europe and at a good price. As my hip hop friend says, "Eat it up, YO!"
