Over the past 3-5 years I have struggled greatly with spinal pain and increasing severity of autoimmune symptoms that no other doctor was able to diagnose or correctly treat. I am an Olympic swimmer and a documentary creator, so to suffer my body's degeneration so severely was more than just a nuisance, it felt like a loss of my entire identity. My right eye was going blind due to inflammation, my spine was attempting to fuse together, I had abdominal pain that kept me up all night and mental fog all day that prevented me from working for weeks at a time. Every day I was taking a massive cocktail of medications for asthma, inflammation and allergies that seemed to be doing absolutely nothing for me. All of this impacted my life perspective and outlook to the point where I didn't desire to live if this is how life was going to be. I had the opportunity to listen to Dr. Mitchell's podcasts and learn about his methodology - it was something that appealed to me so I made an appointment with him. More than any other physician I've had, Dr. Mitchell is keen on using diagnostics to inform treatment. A full analysis of blood, stool, urine, mental health and lifestyle choices was done within the first month - the results were then carefully explained and Dr. Mitchell put forward a treatment plan in phases focused on resetting my damaged gut as it plays heavily into the severity of my health woes. Dr. Mitchell put me on a natural regimen of healing nutrition, physical activity, enzymes, probiotics, cleansing aids, meditation and homeopathic remedies. It was a lot of effort, but in the end it paid off. After a few months of putting in the work and sticking with the plan, I am now back in the gym training with glimpses of the same spirit I had as an Olympian; back in the office making headway on innovative ideas and connecting with people around me; my relationships with loved ones are getting stronger and more compassionate; I am more aware of my nutritional choices and able to make smarter decisions about how to use food as the best medicine. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Mitchell's patience, kindness and deep concern for me as a guide through this journey. We live in a time where the perversion of profit has tainted our inputs measurably (food, social, technological, environmental) and is causing immense imbalances that trigger adverse responses from our bodies. The movement around identifying these toxic inputs to address them is young but growing - for the time being it is fantastically difficult to avoid those toxic inputs entirely, and a guide like Dr. Mitchell can help tremendously in living every day to the fullest in this environment and find ways to be strong, vibrant, compassionate and energetic in all aspects of life.

Referred here by my ENT. (He and I will be discussing this!). Horrible service and consultation…read more Described my symptoms and was told. "You don't have Sjogrens." Ummm...wait a second, I have bloodwork indicating I do. She was the most unimpressive doctor I've ever seen. Dismissing a patient like that was rude and down right unkind. Her PA was no better. On a follow up visit I asked the PA a question and she said, "Oh you're seeing Dr so and so for lung issues right?" Nope. Not me." She asked me another question that was not applicable to me. My husband barked at her asking if she was looking at the right patient on her computer. Totally incompetent PA. Upon acquiring a new rheumatologist, I called and asked that my records be sent to me. It should take 5 to 10 days to receive them I was told. Well here we are more than a month later and no such paper mail has come. That figures. My new very professional rheumatologists office is doing the asking now. My first clue that this office would be an issue was one of the front desk people had her half eaten lunch and a GIANT beverage next to her on her desk. How unprofessional can you get? I don't want to smell that! If you're that committed to your job, take a 15 minute break and eat in the lunch room! The only ok experience here was the blood draw. She was fast and sweet. My last grip is they have you auto sign patient paperwork Saying you are not allowed to change doctors within the practice. They lock you into a doctor you do not like. Very strange and very telling in and of itself. Don't go here. You will not be happy.

This office is bordering on malpractice -- if it hasn't crossed that line already…read more Getting anyone here to complete basic paperwork required for prescribed medication is like pulling teeth, except the pain lasts for weeks. Three months ago, this office put me through absolute hell trying to obtain a prescription I legitimately need. After weeks of begging and repeated follow-ups for them to complete the required paperwork, I miraculously received my medication. Then I learned they had neglected to process it for six months. One month later, the same nightmare repeated itself. Since the start of the new year, I have new health insurance. That means this office needs to complete a pre-authorization for medication I have already paid them for. I am now four weeks and seven phone calls into this process, still waiting for paperwork that should take minutes -- not months -- to complete. At this point, my only remaining option is to physically go to the office, call the online pharmacy from their waiting room, and stand there until someone from this office speaks directly to the pharmacy and completes the required paperwork. I will not leave until the pharmacy confirms everything has been submitted correctly. Let that sink in: a patient is forced to camp out in a medical office just to receive medication. Can you imagine any competent medical practice thinking this is acceptable? If this fails, my next step will be pursuing formal legal remedies simply to compel this office to complete the paperwork they are responsible for completing. Arizona Arthritis & Rheumatology Associates: How many more one-star reviews do you think your office can accumulate before the pattern becomes undeniable? I always assumed medical offices worked to make patients feel better -- not worse. That assumption does not hold here. Read the reviews and decide for yourself why this practice has earned so many one-star ratings. This office -- and its administrative processes -- should be deeply embarrassed. See you tomorrow. I'll plan accordingly, because it appears I'll be there a while.

She didn't hesitate: "Don't bother looking at anyone else in the Valley. Go see Russo." In that heavy accent. I'm glad I listened. As a nurse myself with 26 years of experience, I've seen it all -- the good, the bad, and the downright scary. Dr. Russo is one of the best. His father was a physician, and I can say with confidence his Father should be incredibly proud of the surgeon and human being his son has become. Dr. Russo isn't just a highly skilled surgeon with a stellar track record and excellent credentials. What really stood out to me was his bedside manner. He never once made me feel rushed. He listened. He cared. And you can tell he genuinely loves what he does -- there's no trace of the burnout you sometimes see in seasoned surgeons. On top of it all, he's a family man with kids of his own, so he gets it. He understands how a bum hip doesn't just affect you, it affects your whole family. That empathy came through in every interaction. I had a left hip replacement and walked out the same day with not just a new joint, but a new outlook on life. I'm excited to soon tie my own shoes again, to ride a bike pain-free, to live my life again. If you're considering surgery and you're lucky enough to get in with Dr. Russo -- don't think twice. Thank you Dr Russo!

My PCP's office sent over the ridiculous amount of information they needed which included my insurance cards and last 5 visit notes with them among others and I waited for a call. I received calls but we were playing phone tag as no one ever answered the phone at different times of day. Finally someone calls me and threateningly tells me I need to schedule before tomorrow or else we need a new referral. I call multiple times again with no answer. I just gave up and decided to go elsewhere and I told them so. Unfortunately my Banner Aetna is limiting on where I can go so I have to go here. I call back, finally get thru to someone and they say they have to ask the dr if they will take me... who does that? I play along since I have no choice and finally make an appointment. I gave the guy all of my info even stuff that is very odd like if I have tattoos or HIV over the phone- no lie it takes almost an hour to schedule. They mail me new patient forms which ask for all the info I just gave them and I prepare them for my visit. I show up and the receptionist says I'm late because there are more forms to fill out and they won't see me. Now I hate being THAT pt but I had enough and basically demanded to be seen. The Dr. sees me and examines me in my bra and panties, it's weird but I go with it because I really need help. I get blood work done and schedule a follow up. On this visit we go over my labs, Dr. diagnoses me w/ Sjogrens (which I already knew) and refuses to treat me because of my lifestyle choices. I decide to leave and not make a stun because I am so tired from my illness I can't even deal with this blatant discrimination. I go home and get so much worse. I can't hold any food down and am bedridden, I call them back and beg to start treatment-that was over a week ago and I have not heard anything back. I ended up in the ER twice with a kidney infection that could have been avoided if the dr started me on treatment for it. I just don't understand why this office is taking new patients if they can't keep up with them. I also think Dr. Fairfax is discriminating me based on my lifestyle and perhaps my age. I have never had such a horrible experience. I am thinking of cancelling my insurance just so I can go to another rheum because I actually need help not added stress and anxiety from this office.
