The other half is a dog park, specifically an off-leash dog park. A good chunk of the interior is fenced off for the Awbrey Butte Pump Station. This is a great place to let your dog run free. While the entire perimeter is fenced it is not secure in terms of canine escape. About three quarters is wood pole fencing with wire backing, with the side fronting Trenton just a wire fence. There are entrances all around the perimeter where you can just walk through, particularly from the parking lot on Trenton. So, I guess your dog needs to be one you can trust not to hightail it for the border. Inside, the dog area is mostly wooded undeveloped land with some trails, but there are also semi-paved crushed gravel trails, as there are running along a good portion of the outside of the dog area. You can enter the park from several locations: the main one is the parking lot on Trenton, but also from 12th Ave and from a couple of dead end streets on the east side. I didn't check out the other part of the park all that much except for walking the perimeter.

A fitness center, swimming center, playground, and a tennis court. The squirrels here are absurdly fat, clearly living luxurious in Bend. This is one of the nicest parks in Bend. It's simple, welcoming, and just feels good to be in. Five out of five stars!

Sawyer has a nice grassy area with picnic benches. There is a few different trails you can take including the Fishermans trail that goes down to a few different water access points. There are large rocks and great photo areas. We used to eat lunch on the rocks by the river. This park is also dog friendly and we met quite a few furry friends on our visit.

This little spot where the Deschutes River gets a bit excited, where a reedy marsh attracts birds, where the Deschutes River Trail passes through, offers a wonderful place to do short walks, picnicking, dog-walking or just lazy contemplation. You also can jump on the river trail here and do a longer hike. Robert Sawyer Park is within the city limits and comprises acreage on either side of the river, connected by a nice footbridge. Other than picnic tables and benches, there are no facilities that I saw other than one port-o-john. Access by car is from O. B. Riley Rd just across from the Tumalo State Park Maintenance facility (the access road is easy to miss). There's a small parking lot a short distance down the road that can accommodate maybe a couple three dozen cars at most. Open sunrise to sunset. The parking lot side of the park (east side) offers a picnic area and access to civilization via a paved path. If you step off the path at the bridge and head north, you'll climb the basalt bluff and gain some pretty spectacular views of the river from higher up. You can also head away from the river here and wander among the ponderosa pines. Crossing the bridge, you can walk either straight up the hill to get to the Deschutes River Trail (which is a wide, bike-friendly trail here), or you can take less developed, less obvious paths along the river in each direction and through the trees. There's a large, grassy open area used for ... well, I don't know. Playing with your dog? Frisbee action? Whatever, there are no sports-related improvements such as baseball paths or anything. I'm a big fan.

So be aware that at first glance you may not think it is very big. There are several playgrounds here and even a little basketball court. This park has restroom, drinking fountains and even a trail that takes you to the canal road, though its important to note that is not a public trail. This is a great little park if you are in the Old Mill and may find the other parks too crowded for you and your family. Though the parking is very limited, so keep that in mind.

Plenty of space for your little ones to run and parks for them to play on. There was also a small and large dog parks so your furry friends could run out their energy. There were also some picnic areas that looked available to reserve as we noticed some families throwing birthday parties. Very nice park and area to take a stroll if in the area. Pro Tip: Grab a waffle from the secret waffle society at Sun North to enjoy in the park : )

Such a fun splash pad!…read more Tons of parking on Friday 7/5 at 1:10pm. But 95% of the spots aren't shaded. Real flushing bathrooms, water fountains available. Our kiddos (aged 3.5 to 6.5) loved the splash pad. We let them use our tupperware from our picnic to catch the water or cover the spigots, and they loved doing that. Most of the kids playing in the water ended up being temporary friends. Besides the splash pad, there is also a music section (with a xylophone) and some fancy swings. All very sun-exposed. There are several grass areas in the shade. There's also a shaded picnic table area, about 6 picnic tables.

Quail Park is a short-stop park. There's a basketball goal, a pickleball court, some playground…read moreequipment, a small pavillon), and a portable toilet. It's also mostly a neighborhood park. It's fullest in the early evenings when people come to walk their dogs and kids run around after school. The grass is dark green and full. The goal, court, and equipment are all in good repair. Mornings are a great time for quiet and contemplation. Saturdays and Sundays around sundown are too.
