They also will not refinance my loan under my name only, even though I've never missed a payment in 3 years. I'm definitely looking into a different bank. I…read morehave been a patron for over 20 years, but am transitioning to another bank due to the decline in services within this branch as well as at the corporate level. The fees are significant and unfair, and the lack of staff knowlege has resulted in account errors that have been costly (depending on who you ask you will likely get a different answer). Should you make a mistake on your register (for example forget to deduct a random autopay from your balance) you will be charged $35 per item (even if the withdrawal is for less than $1) in the order they came in. Within a day this mistake will easily and unfairly cost you over $200 and common sense cannot be negotiated, and they won't consider reversing the fees no matter how silly they seem. So, if you are at any risk of making a simple mistake on your register for less than a cup of coffee, I recommend you bank elsewhere. Its unfortunate, because switching banks after 20 years is a pain but makes sense for me...because chances are I will at some point forget to add that cup of coffee to my register and I will need some understanding and grace from the person I am speaking with at my bank so that it doesn't become a $200 mistake. A few months ago, I had a restaurant incorrectly charged me over $1000 on my bill (I paid with my credi/debit card). I didn't realize it until the next day when I looked at my bank account online. Aleta was so helpful in getting it all sorted out, and truly went above and beyond. Since then, I have opened a new checking account there and she as well as the other employees at this branch were so helpful. Next I will be opening a savings account there. Very appreciative of all of their help and I would definitely recommend this branch.

Once, when I brought in a large cashier's cheque from an out-to-state bank and needed to use the money promptly, the staff was able to call that bank, then "bend the rules a bit" and shorten up the time that they needed to "hold the deposit" until the paperwork cleared. This credit union provides excellent support (at a great price) if you need expert tax preparation, too. The ONLY complaint that I have about this credit union is that they do not offer "medallion services" if you have been mailed a form to prove your identity to some "big time" financial institution like Franklin Templeton. But for this issue, there was an easy work-around. They still get 5 stars.

I've had two accounts here for probably 12 years. They are my own accounts, not joint family ones…read moreso it's usually a total of only between $2k-$8k held here any given month. I used to enjoy the small-town feel and friendliness, but lately it's been awful. For many transactions, I seem to receive a teller that is either rude, or unknowledgable. With a simple deposit I'm left to wait, then asked silly questions like "actually your occupation's not on file, can you update your account" etc. There is a girl there, young, straight blond hair that is just so unfriendly, that I've decided to part ways with the bank. Every year my young son receives a birthday check from my best friend. It's usually around $20, she (is a police officer) and likes to teach him about checks and banking, even though he's too young to have enough cash to even open a child's account. I think it's a sweet gesture. He enjoys going there, normally they are aware I'm a long-standing customer and I co-endorse the check with him so he can get the cash. No one has ever questioned it or told me it could be a problem, ever. Not when he was 6, 7, 8.. But this last time, this girl acted confused and put out, asked another teller for help on how to handle it (because my son doesn't have an account in his name and the check was made out to him) and told me "just so you know, our accounting won't like this." Well, too bad sweetheart and congrats, you just lost a customer. Thanks for making my little boy lose excitement about getting a check. When he is old enough and ready to start banking, thanks to this girl, it certainly won't be with Citizens. Go elsewhere with your money, where they are friendlier, and more professional. Even though there is no drive-up and it's less convenient, I'm switching to Chase down the street.
