The girls at the front gave a dirty look up and down and didn't say hello never asked what we could need help with. We ended up finding a $60 dollar pair of sunglasses and left. After returning home (we are 0.3 miles away) we found out the glasses screw was coming out so after about 30 mins we went back to exchange them and were told they could not. It's disappointing how bad the customer service is here. If you don't look like them / worth their time they will not cater to you apparently. Will not be coming back

I went into this store this evening and looked around with my 12 year old daughter as she was excited to see some of the surf clothes they have and trying something's on etc while the whole time one of the staff was actually standing there arms crossed watching us like we were going to sneak something into our very non existent bags we were carrying we were not being loud or rude just trying on clothes and then went and paid for the clothes we wanted as my husband that watched this going on asked if they ever have anything stolen as we were being watched like a hawk and I said it was very uncomfortable and in all truths if my daughter wasn't so excited to get the sweatshirt and t-shirt I would have said my piece and left. We don't dress the part or obviously to there standards but I could have bought the whole shop for all they know.

After walking around town for 2 hours with my new glasses I noticed they gave me a headache. I looked at my receipt to see the return policy. It said something to the effect of: may exchange for in-store credit within 7 days of buying the item. When we returned to the store counter we asked if we could just return them, the nice cashier said "only for in-store credit" so we asked to consult with a manager. She echoed the same rule, which is in line with the receipt's written policy. Then she went on to say that since the product was used she wouldn't exchange them, they are unsellable because they were used! We went back and forth about the sunglasses being in perfect condition just needing cleaning. She was sarcastic and rude, continually comparing the sunglasses to returning sandals, which this is very clearly an incomparable product. My suggestion is that if your policy is not to exchange used products, you need to have that in writing on the receipt and or say so when making a sale. If you don't have that in writing, you are bound to the agreement you do have. You cannot make up rules based on how you feel that day or how much you like or dislike your customers. Boo on you, miss manager.

Living in Upstate NY we wouldn't be able to get down there until the weekend. No problem, they held it for us until we drove down this past Saturday. When we got to the shop, it even had a slip of paper with her name on it so it wouldn't accidentally be sold. It was the last of that size and brand. And since it's now after Labor Day, I'm guessing they won't restock until next season. I don't know the guy's name behind the counter, but he did mention he's been surfing the Jersey shore over 50 years. He was amazing. He was the benchmark for awesome customer service. He set up her board with the fins and leash. Gave her a tip about securing the leash when putting the board away. He gave her all kinds of other advice and easily answered every question she threw at him. Now, to put this in perspective, we had been to a shop in Rhode Island and the guy behind the counter was trying to sell her a more advanced board that she didn't want. I told her not to get it. Get the one you want, develop your muscle memory, then get a hard board later down the road. And when I told this to the guy at Ocean Outfitters, he said "Yes! That's what we tell the people that come here for lessons." All in all a very cool experience. I would definitely be back. Will definitely check here first for any other surfing needs.
