I really needed this massage. While looking on Yelp for massage spots around Bellevue I stumbled…read moreupon this new business, Be Happy Massage Spa, which turned out to have one of the more affordable prices around town. Plus, they are still running their opening specials where prices are discounted for all different massages. Located in the Overlake Square Mall in the Bel-Red area, it's right next to Dough Zone. I called when they opened and was able to make an appointment for a 90-minute massage that same day, for the late afternoon. For the body massage, you're in a private room and can strip down. However, they also offer foot massages in their main room in a shared space. My masseuse was Jeff and he was very, very good! I lift weights and box everyday, so my muscles are always really sore. Therefore, I really needed a deep tissue massage to get some blood flowing to my muscles and help loosen up. Before Jeff began he asked what level of firmness I wanted and he made sure throughout the entire time I was okay with the pressure. It was definitely what I needed. With COVID-19, all staff were wearing masks and in the private room, the client does not have to wear a mask since they're mostly face down on the massage table. But everything was very clean and they change the sheets and blankets as soon as the client leaves the room. For 90 minutes, it was $75 and for an hour, it was $50 for a body massage in the private room. Great deal! At checkout I was given a complimentary bottled water and a stamp card where after 10 massages you get a free foot massage. I'll be racking up on that stamp card!

The full body portion is where they stand out because it was a legit full body massage where they used oil and massaged the full body. All was good, it was a decent massage but it was far from a calm atmosphere. There was talking and other noise. When I broke out the gift certificate they didn't want to accept it. They stated that something was wrong with it and it was only good for a 90 minute massage. We each had an hour massage. I was like: well either take it or don't but I'm outta here. The gal called her boss on the phone and she accepted the certificate but made a notation on the certificate (the remaining balance) that it was only good for a 90 minute massage. I don't know about you but I don't want a 90 minute massage. The place is jank - you can find a better place.

They have the bars on the top of the ceiling so they can walk on you, and stretch you from top down and left to right in all the places you forgot you had. I describe this as in between deep tissue massage and sports massage. It is not as relaxing during it as you need to focus on your breathing a lot more, however the gains after it are great for circulation. The only thing I would improve is the intensity level varied on certain areas when I had already expressed I needed it softer. It was just a little confusing when I got there because this is place is on the second floor of an office building. When I got there it was locked. We decided to give Sunny Massage a try, and overall, it was a great experience. The place is located in a tiny house-style building with a small parking lot right out front. It's definitely not a luxury spa setting, so if you're looking for that upscale ambiance, this isn't it. But if you're after good value and effective massage work, it delivers. Since it's located right off 8th Street, we could hear some traffic and people talking outside, but it wasn't too distracting. The massage itself was just what we needed with firm pressure, great technique, and they even incorporated hot stones, which was a nice touch. They really focused on working out the knots, and we both left feeling refreshed. This feels like the kind of place we'd happily return to for regular body maintenance. Great value, effective massages, and exactly what we were looking for.
