I wanted to make sure there was a Yelp page for this place because of the awesome treatment we received here.
A lot of Sumas around Spain are no more than a convenience store, similar to a 7-11 in the states. The Suma Supermercado in Lloseta is a one-stop shop, featuring fresh produce, a full deli of meat and cheese, booze of all types, frozen seafood and a smattering of household necessities. I think they even had an ATM. This place was our salvation as we tried to cut costs and prepare food at our AirBnB.
The staff is incredible. It is a family business, with the husband working the check stand and the wife rocking the deli. A lot of things are locally sourced, including the MASSIVE barrel of wine by the front door (worry not, they sell and refill growlers of the "blood of the bull"). They also carry a delicious gin distilled on Menorca (look for the green bottle with the windmill on it). The husband speaks fantastic English and was knowledgeable of all his wares. When I needed rosemary and the husband wasn't around, they called a neighbor who spent a summer in England to help translate ("romero").
If you can't find it at Suma, there is a pharmacia across the street, a tobacco store a block away or a "Chinese" store on the other side of town (where you can find anything from imitation Crocs to water balloons).
Gracias, Suma, you made our stay in Lloseta possible and pleasant. read more
