After seeing endless amounts of Flor De Sal being sold everywhere we went, from the Flor De Sal…read moreshops to running into them in souvenir shops. After sampling salt at one of their locations, we fell in love with the flavored spicy salt. Realizing they had salt, it made me so curious to know more. After a quick research, I came to find out they harvested this kind of salt in the island of Mallorca in the Salt Flats of Es Trenc - a naturally protected area. This gourmet sea salt is so unique as the "Flor de Sal" (salt flower) is hand harvested from salt that delicately forms at the surface of the water during certain conditions. To harvest it, it has to be harvested with love - like our amazing tour guide said. Coming to this place to get education about this incredible salt, the process, the work and how pro eco system they are, was one of the coolest educational experiences. For only $10 you can learn so much about salt and then enjoy salt sampling and shopping. We even got to see flamingos from a distance and learn how they (and the pink salt) get their pretty pink color. So COOL. Sadly, the shop was down that day but they gave us a voucher to go to another location and enjoy a free drink. We weren't able to but who cares. We did buy more salt and now whenever I sprinkle flor de sal on my food during special occasions, I think of all the hard work that gets poured into harvesting this delicate salt. Be sure to take the tour so you can comprehend everything that goes into it and you will never see salt the same way ever again.

While it's not cheap to eat here, the price to quality ratio is okay compared to some other places I've tried during my trip. (Though as a disclaimer, I may have had terrible luck - I relied on several review websites and only went to places with lots of great reviews, but most turned out to be overpriced with mediocre food, so this place was THE highlight of my dining experience in Spain.) I went for the filet and my sister chose the mint lamb burger. Both were very tasty and well-prepared! The filet (~25€) was very tender and was lightly salted, which brought out its flavor. I opted for some red wine-onion sauce (3€) and they went very well together. My sister's lamb burger (~18€) was gigantic, so I got to try a few bites... SO delicious! I've never had a lamb burger with mint leaves mixed into the patty before. It was an a great combination, but I noticed the lamb was a bit rare and I'm not sure if this may have caused a slightly upset stomach afterwards. (It was still worth the taste though!) Both the burger and filet came with a side. I decided to keep the fries (the default) while my sister picked grilled veggies. We also ordered a salad (8€) which was pretty generous in size. Before the meal, we were given bread, olives, some type of delicious creamy spread, and some chimichurri sauce. The olives were outstanding! By the end of the meal, we were too full for dessert, but I do recall seeing a few interesting offerings. Since it was a Friday night, I had called ahead to make a reservation, but turns out there were a fair number of seats available in the downstairs area. We may have been there on the earlier end of the evening. Our server was friendly and spoke English fluently. Overall, glad I found this restaurant!

Just wow. We stayed at the Hostatgeria del Santuari de Cura on a high hill of Mallorca up the Puig…read morede Randa mountain. The panoramic views of the Bay of Palma were spectacular and breathtaking. The front desk gentleman personally walked us to our corner room with the best view and told us that the restaurant downstairs was already booked for the evening and that the Michelin star Irene Gutierrez Huamani chef from Peru was the chef tonight. Since we were located on the top of hill, there was absolutely nothing around unless we chose to trek back down the hill for food, so we ventured downstairs and tried our luck. We showed up at 715pm right about when they opened. The lady said people usually book a week in advance but that they were able to squeeze us in and would need the table back in about an hour. We felt so happy and accomplished that we were able to try out this place. Their house bread had olives encrusted in it (2,20/person). There was a tasting menu for 79,00/person but we opted a la carte and basically ordered almost what was on the tasting menu and more. We ordered tacos secreto iberico (16,00/2 tacos so you have to order multiples if you have more than 2 people per party), ceviche exotico salmon (21,00), papa rellena confit (15,00/for 2), rabo de buey (oxtail) (26,00), bacalao retinado (cod) (27,00), and the tagliatelle langostin (prawn) (26,00). Had the copa Mallorca beer. Everything was absolutely amazing except the tagliatelle, which was a bit salty. Highly recommend the oxtail, tacos, ceviche and potatoes. We finished off with a drink called orujo which I felt was very strong. Everything was like a fairytale and perfect up to this point. When it was time for us to finish up, the check took forever to arrive and when it did, no one ever came by for us to close out the check so we could leave. Just paying took almost an hour. Of course, we cherished the moment and people watched. Many were dressed with their A game. But still, we would've liked to leave earlier, especially since they mentioned they needed the table back. We ended up doing almost a 2.5 hours meal even though the food came out quickly. I went back upstairs to our room and looked down from our balcony at guests dining and enjoying their meal. The restaurant closed at 10p but I could hear the kitchen still cleaning, finally ending their night at 1am. What an amazing experience. Absolutely recommend if you're in the area.

Talk about amazing bread; it was baked with olives inside ! and of course, more olives on the side with a aioli which was perfect to pair my wine. From their lunch menu, I went with a basil and tomato salad; delish! Although, I am not a big fan of Cod fish, the one of their menu was super soft and not too strong on flavor.
