Had dinner this evening at the Sum Pig food truck at a local festival. I ordered the 5-0 with brisket, and all I could taste was vinegar. It was really bad. The sandwich also came soggy and lukewarm, and the brisket had an awful texture. I only took two bites before throwing it out, and I really hate to waste food, but I couldn't stomach it. Was looking for a local cheesesteak place to feed some youth basketball players, and found Sum Pig within a mile of the hotel. Had a couple of other recommendations from the locals, but went with my gut based on the numerous good reviews. Ordered a dozen cheesesteaks with American Cheese and Cooper Sharp. Both were delicious and a big hit with the kids. Price point was good, and the sandwiches were a good size (15 inch average). The owner was very helpful on the phone during the ordering process. In a half hour, we were able to pick-up our large order. The food truck was a nice touch. We'll be back the next time we are in the area. read more

Caught Sum Pig food truck outside of Sprint in North Wales yesterday as part of a promotion they seemed to be doing with the store. I've seen Sum Pig on social media, but this was the first chance I've had to give them a try and I was pleasantly surprised. We got the buffalo chicken nachos and beef brisket sandwich. You can tell the chips in the nachos were homemade. The buffalo chicken was flavorful and not painfully spicy, as some can be. It was plenty juicy, too. The brisket was perfectly smoked and flavorful! The slaw that came on the sandwich was crisp and fresh, which added something wonderful to the sandwich. I will definitely check them out again when I have the opportunity to and do recommend you do the same! read more

Tried this spot for the first time today. I was a little worried walking up to a window for BBQ at a train station. I didnt see a smoker, couldnt smell a smoker, the allure of BBQ was no where to be found. I ordered online and picked up since thats the new normal. The Brisket sandwich was full of smoked flavor, the fries were seasoned well and stayed crispy during the ride home. Another Friday lunch from a LOVE Park food truck. The line at 1pm was about 7 people deep, and things looked good coming out the window. The sandwiches I saw, though, with the enormous Amoroso rolls seemed not to have enough filling within them. The sun was beating down, but I was anxiously awaiting my turn to order. Unfortunately, the brisket sandwich was sold out! So I went with the $9 chicken nachos which had homemade chips, cilantro, bleu cheese, celery seed, other cheese, and chicken. Guess what there was not enough of in the chicken nachos? Yes, chicken. The homemade chips were crunchy, flavorful, and abundant. The mix of flavors was a bit overpowered by the bleu cheese but overall, a nice dish. The chicken just was not there to make this a superior lunch. Service was friendly, and relatively quick. I would have given 3 stars, but I did happen to come across a $1 discount for a Yelp check-in, so they get an extra one. $8 total. read more

Sum Pig is the BEST! I've been eating their food for years. Definitely my top choice at any food truck event. No frills, all flavor. Love the pork parfait of course, but my favorite has got to be the buffalo chicken nachos. I'm not even normally a buffalo person...but it is so juicy and flavorful. It's been awhile since I've eaten from a food truck. So many of them have cropped up at Drexel. I stopped by Sum Pig Food truck and decided to try the SUM-Wich. Smoked pork with provolone, caramelized onions and a creamy chipotle sauce. It was actually quite a hefty portion sandwich for $6 and it smelled incredible. I brought it back to the office and was excited to dive in. The bread was toasted and still crispy. The pork was similar to pulled pork but without all the sauce. It was shredded and mixed in with the onions. Way way way too many onions on the sandwich. I really liked the kick from the chipotle sauce, I wanted more of that. But the pork itself was a bit dry and sweet. I wasn't even sure if there was cheese on this..it didn't have a taste (or maybe it was missing and I didn't check). I was hoping for a sharp provolone taste. Not bad though overall. Service was great. read more

Ok first I have to say living in LA for more than half the year I have eaten at some incredible spots including the godfather of food trucks "Roy Choi" With that being said the other half of the year I live in PA and had a chance to try some of the food trucks in Philly. Food is important to me (why I weigh 230lbs lol) so when I ate from the "Sum Pig Food Truck" I wasn't going to pull any punches... LOL no punches needed because the food was RIDICULOUSLY delicious. I had the buffalo chicken nachos with homemade sauce and homemade nacho chips. The amount of love put into this dish certainly reflected in the taste. Every single bite with more than enough buffalo chicken all the way down to the very last chip. I found myself scheduling my philly appointments so I knew when Sum Pig Food Truck would be available !!! Their smoked pulled pork sandwich with smoked bacon is my very close 2nd favorite. I mean look it is definitely too early to even try to compare Sum Pig with the godfather Roy Choi but believe me when I tell you Sum Pig is definitely in the top 3 ...with the other 2 being Roy's in LA Definitely the best in Philly hands down and not even close ! This was a "miss" for me today at Peddler's Village's Strawberry Fest. I ordered the 5-0, which was essentially a pulled pork sandwich at its simplest. One reviewer mentioned that their "pulled pork" sandwich was more like crumbly, soggy pork and I agree! It was like they scraped the bottom of the pan to put pork on my sandwich. Only, at 11:30am, we were among the first to eat. The vinegar-y BBQ sauce didn't bother me, as I tend to favor that Carolina style, but it overpowered literally any flavor my sandwich may have had...which I'm thinking was not much. I got a chance to try Sum Pig food truck at the farm fest this past weekend. I actually stopped at this food truck twice because after my boyfriend and I split an appetizer I just had to go back for more! Appetizer: Buffalo Pork Nachos -We were a little disappointed that as we were standing in line they changed the meat on the nachos from chicken to pork. However, then end result was delicious! There was enough meat, cheese and buffalo sauce to coat every chip! The cilantro on the nachos was a great touch as well. Entree: Pulled pork sandwich - This was amazing! It was sweet, spicy and tangy without being overbearing in any category. It also had the best bacon on it which was a nice touch to a pulled pork sandwich. Great food and great service! read more

The first time my husband and I had sum pig was at one of the Philadelphia night market events. We had their BBQ parfait that had layers of bbq meat, collard greens, cheesy mashed potatoes, with bacon strips. Not only the presentation of the parfait fun and different, it was amazing! We have been visiting sum pig since then and have tried a variety of different items on the menu (Buffalo Chicken with home-made nachos that's one of my favorites, sum-wich sandwich, The western sandwich with thick cut applewood smoked bacon, Bacon bleu..etc). I always love taking the first bite into any of their sandwiches and tasting the smokiness of their pork. I highly recommend trying their pork sandwiches for this reason however based on my personal experience, everything tastes great! read more

After working at The Oval all summer, I got to try 80% of the food trucks in the city. I loved the variety of lunch trucks that were there daily. With that being said I these guys fall into my top 5 favorite. Their menu always has a delicious variety. I'm always satisfied and full when I'm done eating. I love their presentation and how flavorful everything is. My favorites are the sumwich, the parfait, and the nachos. The owners of the truck are so friendly. Stopped by Sum Pig in the Horsham business center on 7/29/14 and ordered the Western and was underwhelmed. From the pictures online and the description I had high hopes that it would be delicious, but it just ended up disappointing. Not sure if it was the time of day, but instead of pulled pork, it was more like a crumbled pork sandwich. In addition to the pork, I saw shredded cheddar and bacon on the roll, but wasn't able to taste either. Everything seemed to be masked by the BBQ sauce. I have always been a big fan of food trucks and love trying new ones, but at $9 for this sandwich I'll be sure to take a pass next time. read more

Stopped by the truck to grab dinner when they were at the Oval on the Parkway back in July. We love buffalo chicken so the buffalo chicken nachos were an obvious choice. Their homemade chips are thick and smothered in buffalo chicken goodness. We also tried two of their pork sandwiches. Mine was topped with bacon. It was tasty, but messy to eat. Nothing a fork couldn't fix. I'm hoping the tacos are on the menu next time I come across this truck. read more

I really don't even know where to start...this truck parks at Yards. My out-of-town friends were in for the weekend to celebrate my birthday/coming-out. Their goal was to hit every landmark lesbian spot in the city and this place was on the list. I went already a little tipsie and was bombarded by women who were about 25+ years older than me and my poor straight friends. I did have a few laughs with some older women who got a kick out of me and had a few drinks and moved on to my next bar/club of the night. I still go back every now and then when I am in the mood for some cheap drinks at Yards and Sum greasy food to accompany. It's not the place I chose to pick up a date or get drunk enough to accept an offer. They should do a tossed salad though. Who doesn't LOVE tossed salad? read more

Book at your own risk. The company has questionable, if not unethical business standards. They are difficult to communicate with and in the end, they do what works for them. We attempted to book them for a party. Agreed to pricing, asked how to proceed and sign a contract. When I didn't hear from them, they booked with another customer right out from under us with our event just a few weeks away. Then they denied even getting our emails. Star rating is only for service since we never got a chance to try any food. Went to The Oval and waited over 40 minutes in a line to try out Sum Pig. The sandwiches run $8 - $10 with nachos topping off at $11. Despite the high price tag, was hungry and ready to order a bunch of items from the menu. The orders were slow to come out and the line (which maybe had about a dozen ppl) moved incredibly slow. The food truck ppl never communicated the reason why everything was taking so long. Ended up at our corner bar, spent $8 on a chicken sandwich (that included fries) and $8 on fully loaded tacos where beers were permitted and the air-conditioning flowed, in less than 30 minutes. I will not be trying this food truck and am dissapointed in the food truck experience. read more

I love food truck and love trying new ones, but I'm not sure I'll go to this one again. I got the Indy 500 sandwich ($12!!!!) at 30th St. Station and was really disappointed. All I could taste was sugar and vinegar. I couldn't taste the cheese or the onions and even when I was done I still had a sweet taste in my mouth. Also, because it was served sloppy-joe style with all the food falling out, you didn't really get to the horseradish/blue cheese spread until you ate half the sandwich. I am thrilled to recommend the Sum Pig food truck!!! (I used to live in Europe, and I'm very particular about food taste and quality). I ate there when they serviced a "First Friday" in Ambler PA. I loved the pork sandwich (forgot the name) which had pulled pork, bacon and blue cheese on a nice Portuguese-style roll. The sauce was tasty, the pork delicious, the bacon crispy, and the blue cheese plentiful. The owner, a fellow named Steve, was very nice and personable. Prices are reasonable. Oh, and they'll add some spicy sauce on if you want it!! Rock on!!! My only regret is not having more room in my stomach to accommodate a 2nd entrée, the "pork parfait," which is mash potatoes covered with pork and other food, intended to look like a parfait!!!
