He took time to explain every condition I have with my eyes and explained how he aims to provide every patient with 20/20 vision, using corrective lenses. His lab is on site so you get your glasses very quickly and he's on-call for eye emergencies. Due to my astigmatisms, my vision could only be corrected to 20/30, But HEY that's a lot better than not seeing clearly in my 70s. His staff is knowledgable and kind. This will be my permanent Eye Facility from now on.

I used the following criteria for this rating: 1) Ease of scheduling urgent appointments: one of my "complaints" about this office is the "banker's hours". That's fine - they are welcome to establish their own operating hours, but they were not conducive to my schedule - nothing late, closed for lunch and no Saturdays. However, when they are open - I have always been able to get in. 2) Office environment, cleanliness, comfort, etc.: This is a clean, modern facility. No "sexy" equipment or physical therapy rooms like some chiropractic clinics, but I don't need all of that crap anyway. 3) Staff friendliness and courteousness: I have only seen one woman working there as a receptionist, but usually it is just Dr. Cortez. 4) Wait Time: Never have waited to be treated Experience with Dr. Cortez - 5) Level of trust in provider's decisions: Dr. Cortez is very professional and knowledgeable in the different modalities of care. Dr. Cortez is very cordial and likeable; I just never felt like I developed a great rapport. Possibly if I had been treated by him more frequently, it would have developed. 6) Cost of care: Treatments are reasonably priced - however, the time with the doctor is adequate, but nothing extra. Point being, I pay $12 more for my treatments now and that is including ultrasound therapy a phenomenal 10 minute massage and extra time w/ the dr. I do not intend for this to be a negative review - I just so happened to find a phenomenal provider who goes above and beyond with her patients.

This was my first time in 15 years Id been to a doctor so I was pretty nervous. He listened to everything I had to say, asked questions pertinent to what I was going through and my symptoms I was describing. I think he saw I was nervous so we spoke about the Foo Fighters shirt I was wearing to take my mind off being in a hospital. It worked. As far as the correct prescriptions, it's still too early to tell aside from the acid reflux medicine. All in all, pretty much everything I could ask for in a doctors visit minus one thing. I went in for a hearing test today for a job screening for a job at airport and was told my ears were compacted and that my eardrums were barely visible. I'm hoping that didn't affect the outcome of my screening causing me to fail the hearing exam. Anyway, the nurse who checked my ears at the Atkinson office didn't mention it(I'm not even sure if that's a part of her job, it may not be, I could just be being nit picky. She could have been checking my temperature.) It would have been nice to get those things cleared out before my screening. Even after my daughter complained to him about a sore throat, he did not look in at it. What Dr. Atkinson did not know was that I am a registered nurse and my husband is a MD. We both have a lot of medical experience and felt his care was borderline fraud for the care given. We feel bad for the people who do not know that this care is sub-par and go to him not knowing that there is better care. His nursing staff was also on the rude side. He was very professional and courteous from the beginning. He also explained the tests I took extremely well for anyone to understand. After the exam he walked me to the front desk, and asked me if I had any further questions or concerns.
