The doorman dressed in gorgeous Indian finery was an exciting start and we were warmly greeted on arrival. Drinks were served promptly from the friendly bartender. Downstairs in the fancy dining room we enjoyed some poppadoms with a stellar pickle tray - much wider choice than usual including my favourite lime pickle and a couple of other unusual choices. For mains I had the peshawari chicken, a new dish from their punjabi specialities section which was rich and flavourful, I'd recommend it. I also ordered an aubergine side dish which I thought was absolutely excellent although i could barely eat it as my mains portion was so generous. This is easily up there with Akbar's and Zouk as one of the premium Indian restaurants in Manchester city centre.

We got the uber down, and went in. It was somewhat close to closing time so we easily got a seat and sat down. I was looking forward to this. As there was 2 of us, we decided to order 2 currys to share, 1 rice, naan, roti, and a starter. We got the gunpowder potatoes ... they were absolutely amazing .. but had a kick to them. I stupidly ordered a cocktail and forgot to ask for table water so I was feeling the burn. But these potatoes were amazing. With that we also had a basket of popadoms with various sauces. All were exceptional. The food came quite quickly and it looked and smelled amazing. The rice was plain basmati, and we went for a butter chicken, and chicken korma. I kid you not, the korma was the best I have ever tasted. it was SO good I have dreams about it. The butter chicken was also amazing with a little kick and it was perfect for 2 people to share. The naan and tandoori roti were perfect accompaniments and I honestly can't wait until I can return here for more food.

First off it's a total hidden gem and from the outside you'd probably think avoid but I lived in India for 6 months and these sorts of places were always the best with the most authentic food in all my time over there. A family team cooking in front of you, for £7.50 I ate a giant panner and vege curry with a garlic naan - words can't even describe how good it was - no oil, no mess, just pure quality tastiness! When I asked if they sold masala chai they said they didn't but could make it for me - wow, what service and it tasted amazing :-) The only thing I'd warn is that even though it was fairly quiet it wasn't the quickest in terms of service and getting your meal to you. I didn't mind this and to be honest it only took 10-15 mins but obvs bear this in mind in case you're in a rush. Lovely food, very friendly family owners, I can't wait to get back here!

My first impression from the outside its really modern and clean, when I went in the same feeling was inside really clean and modern and the staff were very friendly. We ordered poppadoms to start with the sauces and they were lovely. For the main we shared a lamb curry some potatoes an onion rice and a pashwari nanna. I must say the food was delicious and really fresh. I would definitely go back next time I'm in Chorlton.

I visited the restaurant with my brother, who describes himself as a 'supertaster'... meaning he literally can not eat spice without crying. After ordering the second dish which was mild, he found it to be too spicy (I tried it and couldn't taste any spice). The waiter saw that my brother was finding it too spicy and came across to our table offered a number of options to cool the curry down. Now that's customer service! We didn't even ask. I has the mixed meat starter to begin with and although the presentation wasn't the best the food tasted great. I then went on to Coriander Lamb meatball curry which was melt in your mouth so tender. The on tap cobra beer was ice cold, the food full of flavour and the staff were excellent! I really recommend giving this place a try!

Two floors here the restaurant upstairs and bar downstairs. We booked to take a table in the lounge as it was last minute and it was busy on a Saturday night. The cocktail the waiter made us was great and we ordered some starters and mains off the menu. The ordering took a while as staff were milling about but not paying attention to the tables. The food was pretty ordinary to say the least and the starters were bland and lacked any real flavour the exact opposite to Mumbai Street food. The mains were too sweet and I asked for my dishes spicy :-( the naan bread barely had any garlic on it and all in all a very disappointing meal. Not the sort of curry you expect when you pay good money. I don't think I would ever come here again.

I…read morenoticed the other week that they have a £4.90 lunch box which was very exciting as lunches for £5 or less are my favourite thing. I was also excited when I walked in off grubby Portland St to find an elegant interior and smiling waiter. Bit disappointed then to find that the lunchbox is not some kind of Indian bento box featuring, I don't know, chutneys and the sound of a sitar playing or something. It's just the lunch buffet. But then again, that's not actually a bad thing in theory. In execution, none of it was particularly good and it was all strangely the same colour which was a bit off-putting. The poppadums were soft, which was just weird However, as it definitely didn't give me food poisoning I am likely to return given its proximity to my work and low price. For the money though, Kukoos is a much better choice in the area for Indian food at lunchtime. Dinner wise, I'd say Swadesh is probably pretty good.

Not too hard to do, since we stayed at a hotel just along the alley from Swadesh, but boy are we glad we decided on dinner here. The atmosphere was that of a pretty fancy restaurant where you'd think the staff and customers alike would be pretentious, but that wasn't the case at all. This place was really great, and the staff was great to boot. The prices were just perfect where we could all order various dishes and not feel as though we were going to break the bank by doing so. We started out with some poppadoms and chutneys as a started. Well pleased with that. After that, my boyfriend and I went with a vegetarian mix of goodies, including onion badjis and grilled halloumi. By the time we finished that, we knew we were in for a treat when the rest of our food came along. I stuck with ordering vegetarian dishes, which included saag paneer and an okra dish and my boyfriend ordered a chicken curry. We decided to share the lot and surprisingly, my boyfriend, who is a meat lover, really liked incorporating vegetarian in to the mix of dinner and plans to do it again when we go out. My bestfriend and his girlfriend ordered mixed vegetarian entrees and really enjoyed theirs as well. As we had been drinking a bit before we decided on dinner, we kept with water for the evening which the staff kept flowing without hesitation. All in all, it really was probably one of the better dinners I've had in a long time. I haven't had a good Indian meal in a few years, so I was really happy that we all enjoyed it so much. Should we find ourselves in Manchester again, this will be a must on the list of places to eat.

The food is great (try their Chingri Jhol or their Murg Charga if you like something a little bit hotter than usual), the service efficient (rather than friendly, perhaps) and the prices are very reasonable. While there are a few of these to be going along with, Asian Fusion is certainly a worthy little contender. The most noticeable thing about this place is just how fresh the food tastes. A pet peeve of mine is oily curry, much of which I've encountered on the Curry Mile, so it was refreshing to see my dopiaza not swimming in ghee, as chunky and as slightly dry as I like my curries. And the rice didn't experience that stale, slightly chewy texture I find in a lot of restaurants. The ambience isn't altogether up to scratch as a little overlighting overwhelms the cosy slightly, but with attentive and friendly staff and such yummy dishes it's worth looking past. It'll easily match up to the best curry experiences you've had and it's certainly worth considering if you're an Indian food junkie.
