We stayed at this hotel and sad to say, it was a disappointment. I have stayed in various AC hotels…read moreand this one does not meet the AC (Mariott) standards. The lobby has no AC, there is no order for checking in and it is not welcoming. We got there a couple of hours before check in and we were told we could leave our luggage and come back later. We came back 1 hr before check in and no one would acknowledge us and when we finally made it through the line, we were told to wait until 3pm, when the 2 people before me and after me were checked in! Had to stand in line again to be checked in and finally got a room. Front end staff are awful, not attentive, friendly or helpful. The room is a bit less than what you expect of an AC but comfortable and ours was clean. The breakfast at the restaurant and the staff made up for the unpleasant welcome. The staff at the pool area were good too. Food was good there as well, but it gets loud since you are right next to the pool and loungers. Location was okay, but not withing walking distance to places. You will need to take and Uber or taxi if you want to venture out. I will not consider this hotel for the future and will find a better location.

You aren't super close to the center or touristy things, but instead are close to Zapopan and other more authentic experiences. Staff is friendly and helpful. Everything else is great!…read more I've been here two nights and dinner has been terrible the first night I had chicken in mole it was a chicken breast, had two bites and tasted a bit off I looked at the chicken and it was undercooked. I didn't complain just paid for it. The second night I had the tostadas de callo. I've had these many times but what I received was old smelly, squishy callo. I had to complain. They didn't charge me for my plate and service was really bad. Room is great and breakfast are amazing but dinner here I have to say not good at all.

We went down stairs and the front desk switched us to a new room, no fuss. We went up to the rooftop bar, great views and great drinks. The food however was a different story. Everyone in my group had issues with the food we sent back some of the food, but it wasn't any better when it returned to the table. Needless to say we did not eat here again. If you stay here visit the bar for the views but avoid the food. Overpriced and very low quality. Lastly, the hotel lobby has no restroom!!! Almost everyday while waiting for our friends in the lobby we had to make the trip up to our room in the 5th floor to use the bathroom. The was such an inconvenience. The hotel is centrally located and there are many restaurants and places to see within walking distance. I personally will not stay here again.

We recently spent a week here and our biggest regret is that we left!…read more The other reviews that compliment the staff are on point: Every single person he encountered was courteous, helpful, friendly, professional.... Every positive adjective you can imagine. Here's a specific example of what I mean: When departing, it's typical for one to say "hasta luego" ("until later") or "hasta pronto" ("until soon") to the staff in the lobby. And their response is typically the same. But at the Hotel Real Maestranza the doorman responds, "Estaremos esperando" ("We'll be waiting"). It's a very small thing, but it makes a world of difference. Our room was quiet; the linens were the highest quality, and I was pleased to have a LOT of pillows. Housekeeping was to a very high standard. And we had a spectacular view of the city. In terms of a base of operations for exploring Guadalajara, one couldn't ask for more. (Our room did have a slight odor in the bathroom. That's common to Mexican plumbing. It didn't bother me so long as we kept the door closed and the fan running. Normally I would deduct a star for this, but the overall experience was so satisfying it seems like I'm looking for things to quibble over, so I'll stop.) The location is perfect; just far enough from the cathedral plaza to be out of the crowds, but centrally-located enough that everything the city has to offer is close-to-hand. Special shout-out to Ernesto, Humberto and Victor: You guys are AWESOME and I can't wait to be back with you! Highly recommended! I'll see you there!

The faucet sprayed water on us every time we turned it on after being unused for more than five minutes. We reported it a few times and it was never repaired. The most surprising problem with Demetria is the lack of basic amenities. The room was freezing and there were no extra blankets. We called downstairs twice and it took over 20 minutes to receive one. I don't particularly like staying up waiting for an item that should be stocked in the room. The list continues: no hair dryer (had to request and sign for), no shower gel, no bath robes, and no turndown service. The front desk didn't have a city map and one of the clerks couldn't even tell us where to go for coffee in the neighborhood. We were offered a map within five minutes of being seated for coffee at Casa Habita. Finally, an oversized bathtub but no special bath soaps or even house shoes. Each of these complaints may seem minor, but when combined, they reflect a poorly run hotel or a budget that is too tight to achieve the level of expectations for a first-class property.
