It is part of the luxurious Quinta Real brand, which often places their hotel properties in historical buildings. The Guadalajara property was actually built in 1986, but constructed as a traditional colonial-style hacienda on land once owned by the Martinez family. It has been described as an oasis, and that is a perfect impression. When you step inside, you're enclosed by high stone walls, reminiscent of a castle or palazzo, surrounded by lush gardens, birdsong, splashing fountains, antiques, and artwork by artists such as Sergio Bustamante. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in and elegant indoor/outdoor restaurant. Everything is hushed and refined, in direct contrast with the noise and traffic just outside the doors.
The very best part of the experience, however, was the impeccable, accommodating, and kind staff. We both felt so pampered, without any sort of stiffness. ours was a truly wonderful stay and we cannot recommend the Quinta Real enough.
