Mediocre stay! It started out at 96% until everything started unraveling in the room from the patio…read moredoorknob fell off in my hand. Then, the dust issue in the room for like 18 days because the room was not cleaned properly or floors mopped. Patio had dirt on it, too. it's as if they didn't know they were renting out this room to a guest. Room was not checked beforehand of readiness.
I spilled something and wiped it up to to see black dirt on the towel.
Omg, yuck!
I booked this hotel over a commercial hotel because of the art and the pool which was out of commission for most of my 22 days and opened 4 days before I left. Pool was empty and under construction my whole stay.
Unacceptable!
The Sales team is a joke and not helpful especially, Mr. Oberd. He's only helpful when requiring your help with undoing Booking.com so he doesn't have to pay a fee. I lost 22 days credit with booking.com because I thought he was nice. I came to him later regarding my nosebleeds from a dirty, dusty room where even the coffee pot had to be replaced because of dirty gunk coming from the pot which made me sick for 2 days. He abandoned my concerns, which prompted me to go to the General Manager.
The photos of the room are decent, but deceiving. The room has no mirror to view before you leave your room so the only mirror is on the elevator. Yep!
The walk in closet has enough space to put a mirror, but nope. Makes too much sense.
The best part of this experience was Noe and Jay the gate keepers of this establishment. Who work diligently to ensure that the guest have a great stay, and anything you need to know they'll inform you from Tours, bus routes T-11A info hotel to moving around easily in Guadalajara.
I had booked November to give them another chance because they did try to correct most things in my room, but I sat on the lobby floor in front of a door that was concealed and a very rude accountant consult; Delia Gutierrez stepped in between my legs to enter this door and never said discuple or perdon which mean excuse me. I was applalled that a management employee could be so disrespectful to a guest. I was doing something important on my phone and this interrupted what I was doing and because the Wi-Fi is crappy I lost the work I was doing and she never apologized when I addressed her rudeness. Then, with the GM feet away I informed him and all he can say is she doesn't speak English. Excuse me, is universal.
I stayed (3) days at a VRBO which was very spacious, clean and nice so that I could relax.
If GM management would care a little more about his hotel, it has the potential to being a fabulous hotel if they cared more and fix these simple and small things in the rooms and even dusted the Artwork which is filthy dirty. I can believe they would have an enormous amount of artwork and don't do upkeep. in the lobby is even a Pablo Picasso painting.
The best part of this hotel outside of Noe and Jay is the Breakfast/Cafeteria. I give the breakfast staff and food 98%. They did remove the cracked and chipped coffee cups that I cut my lip on which was unpleasant every time I went out doors into the hot sun the cut was burnt by the sun causing me great pain.
Everyone at the front desk was helpful, and pleasant outside of a young kid Paul who spoke English but thought the hotel was a joke or playground for immaturity of sorts. I addressed him on it because I'm like why say you don't speak, and you speak English well enough to communicate and help guest. I don't get it. The hotel take international money, dineros but only have 2 people who speak it fluently to communicate.
I had business in Guadalajara, and had only 2 weeks to learn some Spanish but in my meeting they had someone to interpret / translate for me. Also, I had a translator downloaded onto my phone.
Guadalajara, is a beautiful and very friendly place to visit on business or vacation. In Centro, the natives were so nice to me and helpful. I walked the streets to the supermercado; Soriano's, Starbucks, Farmacia, Waldos, Walmart, and Casino, or many restaurants in the area.
The Hotel is located in a very prominent area with lots to do. I found most of these places but the 1st two times I got lost. Also, Jay and Noe told me where I was.
Uber, is a great help in Guadalajara if you find yourself lost. Plus, you only pay Mexican pesos. So, download Uber its a great help.
Restaurants in area: Oh la la, Waffles de Cafe, New York Delicatessen near Rotunda on Ave Chapilita, La Pasta on Ave Guadalupe, Taco Fish La Paz, Empandaza bakery in Centro. In Centro off Ave Independence is a food/fruit market for locals, and eateries for locals to sit and eat. Foreigners do stand out, but crime in Guadalajara is very very low so no worries just behave maturely and you should have no problems.
Most people hear even if they don't speak English they are very proud hardworking people.
I wish they fix the small problems at this hotel because it's a gem.
